Galatasaray have confirmed they are in talks to sign out-of-favour Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Eboue.

Eboue struggled for first-team action with the Gunners last season and his departure has been expected after he was not handed a squad number ahead of the new season.

And the 28-year-old Ivory Coast international, who joined the Gunners in 2005, looks set for a move to Turkey after Galatasaray revealed talks had started.

"Galatasaray has begun negotiations with Arsenal FC for the transfer of Ivorian-Belgian professional football player Emmanuel Eboue," a statement on Galatasaray's official website.

"The public will be updated about the developments."

A figure of fun, obviously, but still a decent enough squad member. They should hold onto him, but that's not the Arsenal way. After all, they've just signed that 8-year-old from Charlton
 
While they had Eboue, they had it all. Now its just emptiness.

Seriously though he is a useful player. Does wenger not believe in backups

His first season or so at Arsenal, he was one of the best right backs in the league, if you the best. Decent defensively and great going forward. Seemed to change after 06/07, but was still always a talented player. And good source of entertainment, as everybody says
 
We should have signed him and made him High Priest of Old Trafford.
 
Eboue threads have to be among the most consistantly succesfull threads over the last few years.
 
I think he has to be the one player in the premier league that everyone universally likes.

Think this is a massive mistake by Wenger, Good squad player to have and from the sounds of it, the heart and soul of the dressing room.
