I wonder how long it takes you to get out from the middle to the outskirts. Maybe if you could crawl through your window into the next house and so on 4 times over you eventually get to see the Sun.
Sounds like some of the old mill villages we had in England like Saltaire. The community and companies formally being one.
I'll go out on a limb and say it's not beyond the realms of possibility that some of the tech giants may create better communities.
Saltaire was the only good one, I think. Maybe Bournville too. But Salt didn't allow any pubs so there was that.
Think Peter Thiel, of the more public billionaires, is a big proponent of this. Marketplace of society/governance, only with current/future times in mind

Out of curiosity, how different is this from university campuses having their own police force? I don't really know what other powers they have, just wondering if there's a comparable situation there.

The Microsoft campus in Seattle is basically just a huge Microsoft town, and it’s pretty sweet to be fair.
Of course places tend to look nice when you can restrict them to fairly rich people.
That's just the circle of life. We've gone back to the days just after industrialisation when employers would pay their workers with company minted money that could only be spent in company owned shops.

Yeah I'm well aware of the downsides I'm from a mill town myself. I don't think such an experiment would mean a revert to child labour though, it's still operating within national law.

Living in a mill town in 2021 is not really comparable is it though? It is alot like canals, they used to be horrible dirty places of graft and hardship. Now they are for a leisurely boat, stroll or bike ride!
Your idea brings a whole new meaning to Amazon Prime. Might mean the unflavoured non-prime workers can live in a large Amazon cardboard box with lots of excess padding.
