Dwight Yorke moves to Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn have signed Dwight Yorke, fee still to be announced, will this mean we will sign more players?

United wanted £6m for Yorke but Blackburn will pay a fee of £2m rising to £2.6m depending on appearances and team performance, according to BBC Radio Lancashire.

To be honest that is a fair deal considering the full package that comes with Dwight Yorke,

wonder if Fergie is still interested in di canio.

We most definitely need another striker now. 3 is most certainly not enough and I don't care for moving Giggs into the centre either....

Give it three months, a few piss ups, a fight or two, a sexual harassment case, no goals and Blackburn may feel they were robbed!

If Fergie decides to play Giggs as 4th placed striker then that will be the right choice, who are we to question Fergie?

the fans are the paople that pay his wages...

but yes the decision is fergies & ill back it

Thanks for '99 and '00, the rest has been a waste of talent and a waste of space.

Great move for Blackburn imo. Partnering Coley and Yorke again could be lethal. Good move for us too though, I'm glad to see the back of him, but will never forget what he did for us in 98/99. IMO the best striker in Europe that year, truly awesome. Bye Dwight ;)

Suprised at the price really. 2.6M quid???

In any case, Yorke may not be the ideal United striker in recent times but contributed significantly during the treble year.

All the best to him and hopefully he can regain his form with Coley around (except for games against us!!! :D )

Apart from buying someone, anybody from the youth ranks?

Looks like we are being shafted in the transfer tables.

£30 mill for Rio - far to much
£2 mill for Yorke - about £4mill short

And Arsenal bought Gilberto Silva for an amasing £4.5 mill. He along with Kleverson were the midfielders of the world cup for me.

Hallelujah!! Disco's finally gone....v sad end to what could have been the making of an Man Utd legend...

not good news for matt jansen

You've got that right, far too much just because he's English

Disagree, he hasn't done anything on the pitch for a long time. That's a very good deal for Man Utd, I doubt Disco is wortheven that £2m.

He was instrumental in the treble. Nuff said really. We could've paid 20m for him and still got our moneys worth in the first two years.

You really expected to get 6m considering he has one year remaining on his contract and all the trouble he's caused?

might as well have let him go on a free - in JANUARY!

Just get positive guys ... I think if he stay around may be it's even more damage in terms of morale ... I am not saying he's a trouble maker - I am sure he has tons of good buddies among the current crop of players ... but then again - if we appreciate all that he has done ... then we shall just wish him good luck ... he'll probably still have 3-4years left in soccer so he need to PLAY BALL really ...

2mil is still some useful sum of money ... don forget it also mean an EXPENSIVE payroll kicked out ... We could probably use it to sign that French fullback ...

exactly...

shame whats happened, he could've become a legend...instead fans are happy to see the back of him....

Probably already been mentioned elsewhere but United have left the #9 shirt free, are we getting another striker, if so who?

doubt it will be a big name. Just some one to fill in incase of an injury crisis. Di Canio wouldn't surprise me. Maybe a one year deal with Rivaldo (assuming he hasn't already agreed with Milan). Can't see any Eidur type moves this year.

I reckon one of the kids will be given more of a chance. Perhaps switch Forlan to #9.

RONNY :D

(i wish)

And what good would that have done?

not much good now is it for 2m?
what is that - a week's wages? point is we should have moved for someone in Jan.
getting 2m for him now, after paying 30m for Rio.... eh, what's that old one - pennywise....

I'm surprised that we didn't take the opportunity to try and get Duff or Jansen....then again maybe we did..?? we're one short up front and if we move Giggs there, then we're short of quality on the left. Those two would be good editions to the team.

It seems they had to let him go for that price or they would have had to pay someone to take him away. I'm sorry they couldn't have used this knock down price as a way of getting a deal for Duff but obviously the latter is out of reach for one reason or another.

We are now left with two strikers plus Forlan who for all his energy and enthusiasm still has to prove himself as a taker of chances. Giggs is not an out and out striker although Fergie likes playing him in the middle sometimes - he's too left footed to be really effective in that position. Of course Paul Scholes could fit in there, although hopefully not, when someone's injured, in a prolonged 4-4-1-1 set up. Then you've got Webber and Davis. Time for Kenyon to retract his premature statement and get the cheque book out again. Whilst its out, how about Thuram ? - I'm sure they can work out something to get him.

Don't worry.

Thanks for everything Dwight. Your attitude sucked in the last year or two but you were great for us when you could be bothered. Good luck to you and Andy at BR. :)

he did well in '99 and '00, for that we thank him. we could have had much more, but it was his way of life and that's that.

good luck Dwight.
