Duff deal close....

anyway if Duff decides to join us, i've got a bad feeling Disco is gonna spoil it by not gog the other way. I don't see the PLC spending 20m on him unless there's other developments.

oh dear...what are you, 6 years old?!.....those are some pretty dumb comments.....
even in today's inflated market, no way is duff worth more than 13mil quid....and for god's sake, he's not world class yet ok, the potential is there, but just not yet in the class of overmars & giggs, who incidentally is quite simply the best, most exciting winger around at the moment, NOT duff  .... and about that dig at veron.... ohh why bother, prawn sandwich idiots....duff for 20 mil quid

What happened to jedi master yoda? Isn't it "some pretty dumb comments those are"?

okie im sorry guys. there was no harm intended and it's hurting to say im a scouser? wtf.

perhaps i was abit harsh abt Ruud, but what im stating are my own opinions and facts, won't u guys acknowlege that Ruud didn't start last season well? His first impressions gave us some shaky fears, didn't he. but glad he bounced back and scored those 2 great goals against Deportivo, only for Barthez blunder...;P

as for keano, now, i'm also quite taken aback when i said that, perhaps mi fingers went typing without thinking.

well, anyways, i hope Damien does come to OT and give us some spike. and surely hope he doesn't end up at e KOP. Liverpool are robbers and thieves!!

Yeah, RVN had a shit start to the PL, those 2 goals against Fulham to win the match, they were the worst goals I've ever seen

congratulations.

any predictions for who you lot are going to sign, if anyone?

;)

Ferdinand
Thuram
Duff
Ayala
Poom

All included on our short-list

If we get any of them is another matter - if not, we'll move on to other targets I presume.

interesting. . .i honestly don't think that you'll sign any of that lot, except perhaps ayala.

don't you think that you should be going for a 4th striker in case of injury to van nistelrooy or solskjaer?

I agree

I'm sure we're after another attacking player as well - but those are the ones I know Sir Alex had on the top of his list.

fair enough. . .i wouldn't say duff is the answer to your forward situation 'cos he's yet to impress me as a front-man. . .as a winger he's great, but striker? no.

surprised you lot haven't taken an interest in robbie keane to be honest. . .

Answer to our forward situation? It's not as if we're struggling in that department!

I'd like us to sign Robbie Keane, but I don't think Sir Alex rates him that highly.

There's still bad blood there I think. We do need a 4th striker, preferably a creative link man like Di Canio (still a possibility considering what Alex has been saying about him this summer), or alternatively a really pacy striker.

I agree - And Duff would give us that option..

Only thing that concerns me about either Duff or Giggs up front is their finishing - our link strikers in the past have also got in a good number of goals.

Scoring goals is not our problem - creating chances was often a problem last season though. If we create, we will score goals - Ruud, Ole, Scholes and Beckham will make sure of that - and even Giggs scored 10+ goals last season, if I'm not mistaken.

 alright wise guy, right you are.....jedi master am just mad at ridiculous comments being made, and then these clowns hide behind the fact that there's freedom to voice one's opinion....fair enough, but not bloody stupid opinions!!....oh and there's another stupid excuse, 'perhaps my fingers went typing without thinking'...errr, WHAT?!?!?!?  meditate must jedi master, much chaos in the jedi cicrle these days, hmmmm.......

I mean if in those games where they pack the defense and we therefore decide to play the link man instead of Ole, with Ruud, then I'd want that link striker to also be capable of scoring goals themselves. Yorke and Sheringham were both prolific scorers in their best seasons for us, and Cantona sure scored a lot of important goals too. Would Duff? Ronaldinho might. Di Canio does, though perhaps not that many now.

AEBM have you heard anything on the lopez situation?

him and duff are the players we need, players with huge pace upfront and they dont come faster than lopez and we could get him for 10-12m

Haven't heard anything about Lopez apart from what's been in the press.

I was impressed with him at Valencia, but he's struggled at Lazio

Some peeps on the RedIssue forum think there is some truth in this - but after the July 5th and Gallas hoaxes I think we'll just have to wait and see.

I know nothing about Gallas, apart from the rumours on here last week. I do know we were speaking to a player in Manchester last week though, who is likely to have been French because his representatives were.

You don't know it, you heard it, which isn't quite the same.

jedi master knows may here regard Duff as the best thing since sliced English bread, but what about that d'Allesandro bloke....that link seems to have cooled down a little recently.......haven't actually seen the lad play has jedi master but apparently he's the best thing since sliced Argetinian bread, a very versatile midfielder, although predominantly left-sided....if United do actually make a bid for either, jedi master does not think their respective clubs would be able to decline.....Blackburn, coz we'd be offering Yorke who's the best thing since sliced Trinidadian bread down in Blackburn and River, coz we'd be offering good old english quid....jedi master does concede that we indeed need one of em, but either one would be just fine, provided they live up to all the hype....personally, jedi master would settle very happily for di Canio in that position.....ahhh, the masters of yore.....

DiCanio is not the answer for us. He's hardly a spring chicken plus he has a suspect temprament which will be great for the opposition during CL games. Last year we needed a quick fix and he probably would have been the man but this year we need someone more stable and who we can sell on if required. Business is business at the end of the day!

chicken, you calling di Canio a chicken?!?!? you're in for it matey.... ;)
yes, yes, all you've said is pinpoint accurate, but he'd bring the Cantona element back(ok, not all of it, doesn't quite spout the linguistic brilliance of le god)....just think, we'd might even see another kungfu display, no.....one of the remaining few who plays with his heart on his sleeve....brilliant player.....still think he'd suit United down to a button.....

This French bloke we were negotiating with well its my bet that hes not a player but a certain coach called Francisco (a Brazilian but fluent in French and of dual nationality). Either that or Escude (has anyone seen him play - just a name to me). And concerning this phoney war for transfers- its to our advantage isnt it as we are the only ones with money to spend not withstanding sales. So the Lazios of this world will become desperate to sell and when they wanna sell nesta as much as we should want him, then the price should come down to a palletable 15-20 million or so. There is no better defender in world football IMHO and he would bring leadership and assurance to wes and john and make us so much more secure in Europe and at home.

Swivel onit Yoda, you will eat those words I gaurentee.Duff is world class now,he will get better, and he is a better player than Overmars. If he keeps progressing the way he is he will also become better than Giggs. He has the most incredible ability I have seen in years, the next George Best, and when he comes to Utd (which he will) he will be an absolute sensation. So stick that in your pipe ,you sci- fi muppet

By the way if you call me a prawn sandwich again Ill chop your balls off :D

C'mon Benny. I agree that he's World Class material, but he'll never be another Giggs.

He will be an absolute sensation when we sign him,Raoul, you mark my words. If you look at some of the goals he scored for Blackburn at the end of last season they were sublime, the one aGAINST lIVERPOOL,only Best would have been capable. He is perfectly balanced,he is the best dribbler I have seen since Best, totally unpredictable, incredible acceleration from a standing start, can shoot with both feet, the boy is a genius, and we have only seen the start of it

That may well be, but lets not make wild assumptions that he's going to eclipse Giggsy just yet ehh. ;)

Look Ilove Giggsey he is a genius, but Duff is a better dribbler than Giggs. He is also more balanced, he doesnt depend on his left all the time,he can twist and turn off bothsides equally well,he beats defenders with his back to them,or facing them,he doest need to have a run at them,he turns them inside out from a stand still,he is also a very good crosser,he has the ability to stop and play the simple ball when its most effective. He was double marked throughout the World cup and he still made shit out those defenders.Fergie will sign him ,if he doesnt he will rue the day.
