Downloading Final Fantasy 8

I'm actually in the mood to play it now.
It's an easy game compared to the other Final Fantasies though. The characters can get very strong very early in the game if you know how the game works.
 
There are quite a few PS1 emulators out there, try http://www.ngemu.com/ to get a good idea about them, the forum is good.

I've been using the PS2 emulator quite a bit, but it's still being developed, and it's not really much use unless you have a very powerful PC. You can play FFX on it though, it's one of the most playable 3D games the emulator runs. Bear in mind you need to dump the bios from your PS2 though.

12 is far better than 10, and within touching distance of 7!

Did you like running around like a headless chicken just to trigger random battles with certain monsters? You must have...
 
Haven't played 12, but I like the look of it. I may be wrong, but it looks like FF9, in terms of appearance and characters

True - I found Balthier and Fran more interesting. At least there was some back story.

What I like about it is that it's way more challenging than 8 or 10 - you don't get every spell, and the weapons aren't really that powerful compared to the monsters. I fecked myself up opening the wrong chest, so I'm stuck with weaker stuff. The summons are pretty weak as well, so that requires thought too.

I rarely had to think in a FF game before this - just level up and summon something, and I'd usually get through. It's not so easy now.

Plus, the world rocks. Absolutely massive, and the graphics are beautiful... And they got rid of the random battle thing, which I used to hate.

Probably. I didn't play 9.

Graphics are fantastic - everything is drawn in great detail. Only drawback is loading times. They're a tad longer than I like.

Music's okay. Not good but not that bad. Getting Nobuo Uematsu back would be a good idea.
 
FF 12 graphics and gameplay are very good, yeah

BUT :

The story is awfull, no fantasy actually, and it's pretty annoying for a Final Fantasy ;)

FF7 > FF 9 > FF 10 > FF8 > FF 12.

I couldn't stop playing on 12 when i first got the game. I was completely addicted in a way i hadn't been since GTA.
It became slightly disappointing as it went on though, and despite being a good game, i didn't feel it was as good as a lot of the previous series. The storyline was very weak for a Final Fantasy.
The graphics are insane though. The opening scene alone will tell you that.
I wish the old music writer Uematsu would come back though. He was truly excellent.
 
Final Fantasy 13 will come out as 3 separate games, FFXIII, FF Versus XIII (both for the PS3) and FF Agito XII (mobile phone), each game features a different story but all of them somehow are interrelated

I've tried all of FF series, so far FF 3 for Super Nintendo is the best (for the storyplot) IMO that was the best FF series ever, of course the graphics is far from FF7 above.
 
Downloaded the PC version. No idea why because i've gottit on the playstation.
I forgot how much i liked this game. I go through phases of randomly wanting to go on FF games and it looks as if this time, it is FF8's turn. Want to play FFX aswell though.
 
Everybody knows that FF: VII is the best of the lot...
 
Probably. But i only just finished playing that so i can't go through it again!
I think 9 comes close though.
 
The music during the title screen is definitely from FF7. The stuff after that is from Chrono Cross.

I love the final Fantasy serie and most rpgsingeneral. Played through all of them at least thrice. 7 is definitely the best followed by 8,6,12 and 10. the only shit one was 10-2 but I managed to finish that as well. Can't wait for 13 to come out. It should be awesome. I am waiting for it to come out before I buy a PS3.

Random encounters have become a thing of the pastand with games like Rogue Galaxy and FF12 the gameplay is quite good. It would probably take youless than 15 minutes max to find a save point at any given time and the music in the FF series is amazing.

Balthier was class. Reminded me of Irvine from FF8. The thing I hated about FF12 was the treasure chests and how they were random treasures inside it. It was extremely annoying. The summons were original and some weretough to beat. I think the reason some people disliked FF12 was because there was no clear protagonist. FF games have always had the game built around one central character like Cloud,Squall,Tidus,Zidane etc but with 12 Vaan/Ashe and Baltheir were all leads in their own way.
