I wonder what number he wants, 6 is obviously taken. 7 and 11 are free but I doubt he takes those.

12, 14 and 16 should all become available soon.

I think he might like number 34, which was his best friend Nouri's number at Ajax (Nouri is an Ajax player that suffered a heart attack during play and has since been in hospital on life support).

35m release clause? Utter nonsense. Also if you see Scott becoming a DM then I'd say you lack the ability to recognise his skillset. He's nothing of a DM.
Bruno had a 35m release clause last summer, please explain why that is utter nonsense?
Before you tell people they lack the ability in something, you should keep an open mind. Scott McT is definitely a box to box midfielfer right now, but I definitely believe he can delevop into a very good DM. His energy, tackling, pressing, communication and defensive qualities are already very good. With more work, he could definitely succeed Matic as Solskjaer our manager said.

Looks good, I must say. Looks versatile too. Will be interesting to see where he's deployed - and to what extent he'll be used in different roles/positions.

Happy to see him join, at any rate.

Bruno had a 35m release clause last summer...

Sure about that? I seem to recall that his release clause was significantly higher than that - he signed a contract (with said clause implemented) in 2018.

We didn't activate his release clause when we bought him, afaik - that is, we paid less than said clause (but with various add-ons and whatnot). The clause itself was €100m , I think.

I will no doubt be corrected if this is wrong.

Fernandes, 23, signed until 2023 with a release clause set at 100 million euros ($117 million). He said he had received better offers from other clubs but chose to return after Sporting guaranteed improved security for him, other players and their families.

Remember when 40 million was a lot. I still think it’s a lot for backup player. Positives are we have lots of games to play so our best players will need rest. More I think about this the better this transfer gets.

not going to be a backup player. We'll have so many games to play without a lot of breathing room, he'll play a ton.

No he didn't. When Spurs were trying to sign him last summer they wanted €65m.

I remember where I was specifically when the £37m for Mata was announced. Our record transfer at the time, felt huge.

He seems to fit the profile of the kind of player Solskjær wants to bring in, equal parts engine and technical ability, also seems to be a big character who won’t wilt under the pressure of playing at Old Trafford. Great to hear all the positive words about how excited he is to join and how convinced he is about the project overall.

As good as this looks for us FIFA and FM muppets, that midfield would get completely swarmed by the 'bigger' teams or just teams who like to press aggressively. Still needs a ball winner to drop deep in that midfield.

Might work well enough as a diamond but our FBs just aren't good enough going forward.

Well get Williams out for Shaw for starters. Also, Pogba at DM
Pogba isn't a DM there... Think they are implying a midfield 3.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see this kind of set up against weaker opposition with Matic coming in for stronger teams.

With this signing maybe we'll finally witness the birth of the Two-Pronged Pivot

In this completely made-up system, two high attacking midfielders create a pincher like motion enveloping the middle pitch to spray balls to the wingers who spray balls back to the middle. A holding midfielder sits back sweeping up the loose balls while the attacker tries to score but also becomes a fifth centre back when necessary.
I have absolutely no idea what you’ve just said but it sounds sexy as feck

If it goes through, it is beautifle transfer. Intellegent player that will help us. Lot of qualities in this guy and bright future. 6 good proven central midfielders in the squad. Just what we needed.

Left footed forward??
yes, someone on the right who can cut in. greenwood is still a teenager and needs a rest, while martial and rashford can cover for each other (with james or pogba or bruno on the left in an emergency), there is no cover on the right.

Played in Ajax's 4-2-3-1 last season either as AM or the left CM.

He's better than the B2B midfielders we have in Fred and McT. Also probably means no more Mata/Lingard/Pereira at the AM position which is more than welcomed. Shrewd transfer by the club.

Right Winger & attacking LB still needed too

yes i agree about the right winger, because of the way we play he needs to be left footed. i think attacking LB is less of a priority than RB, since shaw is better than AWB hopeless going forward.

It's utter nonsense because you're literally making it up. He did not have a £35m release clause & you're just pretending he did to bash on the club for paying more than that in Jan.
