It’s a done deal. What number will he get?

As someone pointed out Werner who was set to become Liverpool player but Liverpool didn't want to pay 50m for him. 30 m on 29 year old may as well be a no go for Liverpool this season.

Maybe just maybe he joins us. What a deal that would be especially if we get Sancho as well. Liverpool would be foolish to not go for him
Van DeBeek, Sancho, Thiago and Upamecano?! That would shock me!!!! Go on Ed!!

Means Bruno and Pogba can be rotated or rested without losing attacking impetus.
Yeah, people have short memories. Bruno was totally gassed at the end of the season and our bench options were Perreira, Lingard and Mata.

He was part of the 30-man shortlist for Ballon d'Or in 2018-19. Probably because Ajax reached the Semi-Finals but still a good achievement for him

Probably the least important to position to strengthen, but I'm always delighted to see new players.
Do you remember first half of last season where Ole was forced to play Scott and Fred pretty much every game and had to rely on Pereira, Mata or Lingard to add some creativity and playmaking skills? Would be awesome if we could avoid that again!

But yeah, we certainly need to adress other positions as well!

Is he playing that far up the pitch for Ajax then? Thought he might be more of a Herrera replacement, a 6 or 8 rather than a 10.

With Pogba, Bruno, VDB, Matic, Fred and McT, this is our best crop of midfielders at the club since we had Carrick, Scholes, Fletcher, Hargreaves and Anderson. I like it a lot.

Good signing. Good price. Nothing to complain about at all.

100%
Just the matic position needs a tweak sooner rather than later but on paper yeah that’s formidable. Even better than the schmidfield

Looks like it’s about to happen. Shout out to club legend Van Der Sar for seemingly making it easy(ier) for us

Ladies and Gentlemen!! We got him.

His YouTube compilations are full of goals  so now we have 3 Goal scoring midfielder. We are going to outscore the opponent. Defence is overrated anyway
My thoughts exactly!!!!
Play 3 at the back and 7 attacking players....can’t go wrong

for all the stuck out board get for their poor negotiation, they deserve credit for how smoothly this one seems to have been done.

Seems Dortmund really might be the issue in the Sancho negotiations. As opposed to ‘useless woodward’ etc
Yeah must be actually true that Dortmund introduced third parties to delay and obfuscate the issue.

With how smooth this has apparently gone according to reports, it proves we can apparently do it, so why do we seemingly balls up most other transfers? Mind boggling club. Still very happy about this and to finally see some activity!

Pretty much in agreement with everyone else that this is a good signing. Hopefully we progress onto other targets as we need much more.

I imagine this deal could have been done months ago, but given we aren't even back at training yet, there was no real rush.

Can't believe no Muppets had done this.

Should get your Muppets juices flowing.

I've been watching Donny for years now. He's a typical Ajax number 8/10. A guy that has a lot of depth in his game and knows how to run behind the enemy defense. He scores 10-15 goals a season. For years now we play with a system where we make room for a players like Donny. Before we had Siem de Jong, Then Klassen and now Donny.
Donny is better than Klaassen and Siem de Jong. Donny has a very functional technique and can contribute in the build up in the game. He is very focused every time hes gets the ball. The challenge for United is to find a position for him in the midfield where he will function optimal. Where he can make the meters in the depth behind enemy lines. You need to balance your midfield with a strong 6 and a creative player next to Donny. You need to create an "Ajax like" midfield. That is gonna be a challenge.

I am really excited by this signing, some quality depth to midfield and i bet bruno is fecking over the moon he wont need to play 55 games this season!

I think that is largely due to the reasonable asking price and wages more than anything and a lack of competition. An easy but sensible deal to complete.

This is a purchase that I have a very hard time understanding and therefore enjoy. When Fred and McTominay played together over a long period of time, they became really good together. I think we're pretty strong in the central midfield already. Therefore, I do not see that we are getting stronger with this purchase. McTominay should be in our starting 11 along with Pogba and Bruno. Fred and Matic are the alternatives to the central midfield, if I could decide. So I do not see that we have a need for Donny van de Beek.

I can actually picture rashford browsing and refreshing the caf over and over on his phone:D

They've not covered themselves in glory during this saga at all. Even when there were times when clubs were trying to sign players we didn't want to sell, like Ronaldo and De Gea, there still wasn't anywhere near this sort of obvious obstruction that Dortmund seem to be engaging it. From start to finish this has just come across as them trying to make a statement of some sort by making this as difficult as possible. Very small time.

I think Van Der Sar had a big part to play in making it smooth but still it shows we can do it

Fantastic signing. Well done to Ole and team for seemingly choosing the sensible option rather than Grealish for £80m. Can play loads of positions and will mean that we don't need to see as much of Pereira, Mata and Lingard, which can only be a good thing. This is the signing of a club going places IMO

How do we think we will use him? Could he relieve some of Matic's and Bruno's games?

Also IF we get him (knowing us I'll only believe it when we officially post it) will he have to self isolate when he arrives or will he be able to link up with the squad straight away?
