Donny van de Beek | van de Beek's father: "[Moving to United] a dream come true."

This would be good business for a reported £36m fee.

We could potentially recoup majority of this by selling Lingard and Andreas alone. I still reckon this will happen after we bought in their replacements.

£36m maybe a good price. But knowing United this is probably coming out of next summer's budget.

He's not necessarily there to get on the ball and create things. He's a dynamic player who'll make tons of runs and act as a pressure reliever for the more creative players. He tends to make a good number of runs through the defensive lines, and he tends to get a good few touches in the box as a result.

Defensively, he's a pest; he presses and harasses the opposition a ton, and he's key in winning the ball quickly.

Which is exactly what we need imo. All of our successful sides have featured a player that annoys the shit out of the opposition and is always on them if they're in possession.

Donny will become a fan favourite like Bruno. Get it done Ed!

A lot of people on here seem to have doubts he can improve us , but there was a lot of similar doubts about Bruno as well , maybe even more so considering the league he came from. Like the idea that he has good work rate and high stamina like Bruno. If he does come you can see why Ole wants him , he was open about us becoming the hardest working team in the league and the workers he is trying to bring in have good technique and ability too.

I think he improves us in a big way in any game bruno or pogba can't play in, which I think will be lots of games. I also think he can come off the bench to good effect, something we really dont have at present.

VDB is meh to me. And it’s even extra hard for me to get excited about Donny while City are about to sign Lionel fecking Messi :(

Based on the video, one of traits that interests me is that he is pretty similar to Muller, whereby he would look for others first, almost always even though he had the chance to score himself. Plus, his lack of style or flair, is similar to Muller as well. Could be a good match for the team now.

No pleasing some!

What would you rather?

He’s a really good midfield option to rotate Bruno and Pogba that won’t cost £50m plus. He’s got CL experience too.

If and it’s a huge if we get him and a Sancho that would be an amazing window strengthening in creative areas in which we are sorely lacking game changing options.
I’d like him, of course, but there’s no obvious place for him in the first team. That’s all I am pointing out. To say he’ll be a good rotation option is fine, but we’re going to end up spending £40m on a player who will not instantly improve our first team. When Bruno and Pogba are fit, they will play. Van de Beek is hardly a game changer from the bench either, because if you’re chasing a goal the other two are who you want on the pitch.

Sancho instantly improves the team. Usually when we sign a big money player it’s because there’s a gap in the team for him to fill.

DVB for around €40 is a bargain! Much more reasonable than Grealish figure. Welcome to Manchester, Donny!

Grealish can join when we get him for around DVB price next year when they get relegated!

Where would VDB play for rotation?
Could you play him in a pivot, rest Bruno and Play Pogba further up?

When attacking, can he play deep to release the 5 in front?

Kind of reminds me of Ander.

I completely agree, if we sign Sancho, he can cover 7,11 & 10, then what’s the point of signing DVB to cover Bruno, unless we aren’t signing Sancho, if that’s the case we should be aiming higher than this.

The thing I find interesting about that video, is that he’s in positions that Pogba doesn’t seem to be allowed to go into.

Has been playing as the furthest forward of the midfielders for Ajax? Or is there a number 10 ahead of him?

I am very optimistic about this signing now that I have read this thread. Players that redcafe don't rate and thinks is absolute dog shit usually turns out good. Remember, this place thrashed Bruno and called him a mediocre footballer playing in a farmer's league. This place said that there were tonnes of defenders better than Maguire for half the price. This place said AWB is too overpriced for someone who only had 1 season in the top flight who can't attack at all, and would much prefer Meunier. This place was excited for Di Maria, Falcao, Schneiderlin, Schweinteiger, Depay etc.

Now that most caftards don't rate this signing, I am very sure that if we do sign him, he will be a success for us.

We need depth.

It is impossible to find a better player than Pogba and Bruno for under £40m so you look to promising midifielders instead. He ticks every box for a young midfielder in both quality and experience of high level football. DVB is just as capable coming on if we need to go for it in midifeld. 1-0 down? Sub Matic bring in DVB and we have more creativity. The alternative currently isn’t as good.

The gap here is we have Lingard and Pereira as back up No10s I’m very confident DVB is a significant upgrade.

Quality post

He reminds me of De Bruyne, highly energetic midfielder that covers a lot of ground in midfield, getting into wide positions with good movement, he appears to have good decision making, passing and goal scoring abilities.

Sancho would be a bonafide starter week in week out. DVB would be a massive massive upgrade on the likes of Lingard and Pereira as a first off the bench, rotation option.

No lies were told in the making of this post

Honestly a week ago I thought any transfer would get me hyped up but I’m just not feeling it with this bloke. I think it’s cause I had my hopes up for Jadon before the window which is my mistake. Seems a few others share my worries.

After our first XI, our squad is paper thin. The first XI is close to as good as anything in the league, we just need a commanding CB to partner Maguire. Arguably a specialist DM to replace Matic, but I see Fred as a great option there.

Where we’ll massively suffer is having to over play the first XI, and not having bench options when one of the starters is having a bad game, or to cover for injuries to key players.

In this regard, having quality rotational options like VDB are as important as signing starters.

If we were to have a window like VDB, cover at LB, Brooks, and a rotational striker like Dembele, Is see it as a highly successful window considering the current climate. And our squad would be much stronger. We performed well in big games last season. We just dropped silly points when players were tired or injured.

He fits a need if we get rid of Mata, lingard and Pereira
Lingard should still hold some value and we might be able to send Andreas off on loan but not a chance anyone is getting close to Mata’s wages. Two year deal looked silly at the time but even worse now.

So just on this page we've got comparisons to Muller, Herrera and Dr Bruyne. What a fecking player we have on our hands here!

Regardless of how good he is this signing would make me wonder what we’re up to. VdB is absolutely not coming here as a squad option and we are most certainly not paying £35m for one at the moment. Especially given our apparent financial uncertainty.

I’d reckon he’s a starter and we have an idea of how we intend to accommodate that.

I wouldn’t worry about it to be honest, the same shit paper that told us we were about to sign him are now reporting we’re it talks with Villa over Grealish.
