He started to look better before his injury. We might never know what his potential here is. Ten Hag gave it a go with him, I‘m not sure he will get another.
If we can get 15 million for him let's ship him. He's just not up to the standard. Shame, as he seems a decent bloke.

I wish I could see what the poster saw before his injury. He was not looking better at all.

How many years is he with us now…2/3? Granted the injury earlier this season wasn’t helpful but I’d give the guy until January next to see what he can do in a different system, ETH has worked with him before, let’s see what he can do and if not then bye bye.

Give him the door. He's clearly not good enough and we need to get ruthless again with this kind of thing.
We have seen what he can do and its not near worth keeping a player like that

Pound for pound he's been our worst signing ever I reckon. 35m paid and it feels like he's played about 20 times. Feel for him but he needs to move on.

Absolute shite

Couldn’t even stand out at Everton and has been awful for us.

Needs selling

It’s a good shout. Taibi was awful, Falcao was useless, Prunier? Obertan? Bebe? All worse than Donny.

Is that the only criteria? It’s a silly argument but VDB is far from our worst signing.
Both are midfielders (Sancho more of a striker nowadays than a winger/midfielder but still) and both were known for goalscoring and assisting, yet Donny has barely any and at least Sanchez scored a bit and assisted a bit too despite his terrible time here. What else should we judge your golden boy Donny on? Because he can't score, he can't assist, and he has zero workrate and disappears in every game.

I’m not! It’s a ridiculous call.
Telling somebody to shut up because you disagree with an opinion of theirs is pretty textbook arsehole behaviour. Saying sorry and moving on isn't that hard.

Are you seriously comparing punts like Bebe and fecking Prunier to van de Beek who cost 35-40m? Bizarre.

Prunier was on a trial technically.

What is it with fans always insisting the current is the best or the worst.

It's probably the best ever example of the worst ever view on the cafe.

Prunier always gets brought up in worst ever conversations. Not only did we never buy him. It was never even a loan

he was on trial and played two games. His first game was pretty good 2nd was disaster against spurs. Then he was gone

You're on a football forum dedicated to a club that has been in utter disarray for a decade, spending record amounts haphazardly and recklessly. It really isn't beyond the realms of possibility that one of the worst signings happened in that period of time.

One of, yes.
"The" worst ever - won't be him.

I'll be the first to admit I'm biased but Donny was instrumental to Ajax 18/19. The problem was that you bought a plumber where you needed a carpenter. He never fitted because he wasn't bought with a clear idea but only because you lot wanted a piece of the 18/19 Ajax pie.

Answer my question, if goals and assists aren't what we should judge Donny by. WHAT SHOULD WE THEN?
Fecking touchy bunch in here. I didn’t say he was the GOAT, I simply said he’s not our worst signing ever. It’s not even close. But feck all this drama over my opinion. We disagree, that’s fine. I’m done.

Plant out.

Sanchez scored and assisted way more than Donny ever did.

Donny's transfer has been an abject failure, but it didn't really change much for the club, positive or negative. The fee, while not small, wasn't particularly large and his salary isn't that high. And he wasn't really brought to be an integral part of the team, so his absence wasn't really felt. After he is gone this summer, he will be forgotten. It was a very strange transfer, definitely one of the worst transfers, but nowhere near the worst.

Sanchez's transfer actually damaged the club long term without any tangible return. His salary prompted other players to demand more and that's how we ended up with a bunch of unsaleable players now. By far the worst transfer in the history of the club. It was a travesty.

I'd also put Sancho and presently Antony above Donny. They both cost unspeakable amounts, came in to be integral players, and both have completely failed to deliver, leaving the RW position in a dire situation once again. Antony's transfer has put a hole in our budget this summer, and Sancho's criminal salary makes him unmovable.

Odd fella ain't ya? Have a good one.

He's a worse signing than all of those and it's genuinely not even close. Not only did he cost considerably more, but he also cost considerably more at a time that we really couldn't afford to be pissing money up the wall. It's honestly laughable to compare him to those players and claim they were worse signings. What has he contributed so far?

Can we give Sancho and Antony a little more of a chance before writing them off? Every time Donny has played he's looked utterly gutless. He hides, looks to get rid of the ball as quickly ad he can to the nearest possible player, and cost 35 million or whatever. It's not chump change, like you seem to be implying.

TBH Falcao only had one good knee when he joined us and he came as a 3rd choice. No one expected that much from him.

That's not how I remember it. His return from injury was one of the worst I have ever seen. He dropped 5 levels.

His knee lost at least 30% of functionality after the 2014 injury at Monaco according to some spcialists. It was an extremely severe ACL injury, the ligaments had to be fully reconstructed on the surgery.

Edit: I think it was a similar case as Kaká, where the federation and club tried to speed up the recovery time and we all know how it ends most of the times when a lot of steps of injury recovery are done quickly.

Wasn't he part of the famous marketing picture with Rooney and RvP which led to all our rivals sh*tting their pants?

Quite natural if you bare in mind that Falcao was returning from his severe injury and was until then one of the most prolific goalscorers. Unfortunately for both us and Falcao he was clearly not the same player. His mobility wasn't the same.

Well, I didn't know all that, so my reference point (and my expectation) was ranging between Ruud's first injury and fat Ronaldo.

I don't know how we got here, but on the topic of Donny, can you imagine if he becomes even more timid after his return from injury?

I wouldn't be suprised if he's gotten a really gotten a reality check, realized he's not that good and rides out his contract instead of moaning for a move.
