Doubt GK will be an issue going through the roster. Only 4 managers need a GK with (more than) 3 picks to go.

Think many used the GK as an escape route of filling in the required position whilst also passing and waiting for a better option as an outfield player.

Also enigma's Ballack pick was exactly half the time of Edgar's Lizarazu pick. Not much on it's own, but when you consider Edgar is half the man Enigma is, it becomes more telling.

Seems we have the exact opposite impressions. I would have thought Reuter was the better in defence and Sagnol better in attack. Also Reuter was faster. If it was a back 4, I'd be tempted to take Reuter since he is more rounded, having played CB, DM and wide CM too. In later years he was more involved in buildup of play than making the attacking runs himself.

Both are flexible over back 4 or 5, but I'd say Reuter is a shade better.
 
All these delays due to time zones remind me a draft I once played in bigsoccer where the draft order was done with time zones in mind. Basically,

  1. Make pools according to time zones - West Cost, East Coast, UK/Europe, Asia, Australia
  2. Randomize within the pools.
  3. Select one the pools to start with, but that order above stays the same (in the reverse order) so that all time zones fall under favourable hours.
e.g. 16 drafters playing grouped
West Coast
1, 2, 3

East Coast
4, 5, 6, 7

UK/Eur
8, 9, 10, 11, 12

Asia
13, 14, 15

Australia
16


Step 2.

West Coast
3, 1, 2

East Coast
5, 6, 4, 7

UK
9, 12, 11, 10, 8

Asia
14, 15, 13

Aus
16


Step 3: Start with UK so UK then EC then WC then Aus then Asia. So the final order would be:

9, 12, 11, 10, 8, 5, 6, 4, 7, 3, 1, 2, 16, 14, 15, 13

I remember both from their famous stints: Sagnol in that tremendous back 4 at France in 2006 where he was a very balanced fullback and provided good overlapping runs and great crossing - like the one that should have won France the World Cup in the final if not for Buffon making that GOAT save - but he didn't attack like a wingback would. Similar to Lizarazu e.g. For Reuter I remember him more suitable to play as a wingback as he did at Dortmund - great pace and stamina for that role .

Yeah I'd generally agree with this. Reuter certainly stronger in 3-5-2 set-up, not a lot in it in a back four, but would give a slight edge to the German. Depends on how you want to play though as they have slightly different strengths.

I had this exact idea last night when hardly any progress was being made. It seems like a good idea to me.

Yeah it's far from guaranteed to work, mainly avoids the overnight situations:

Say greensmiley pics during his evening, the time zone next in line will have more daytime left and usually it would work unlike europeans picking during the day and then the aussie turn coming which means curtains for the day.

But I'd just like to point out if people who made wrong picks (those already taken) were allowed to re-pick, it seems quite harsh not to allow people to change, since the next manager hasn't posted yet.

I gave you Tigana, you could have gone for anyone of the great French defenders of 1980s, you choosed much less talented water carrier of golden team.
If you really wanted a DM, Tigana played with an fantastic one, you choosed a lesser one just because he won more.
I gave you Robert, you could have had one of the greatest box striker of all time, you took a CB.
Obviously there is no link left to the GOATs.

My thoughts exactly. Sagnol better defender and in a 4, Reuter a wingback.

I'd probably echo what @Moby and @antohan already said, but when played as a wingback Reuter is indeed faster and can recover more ground quicker, hence you get the impression he might be better defensively. But in a back four, especially with a hard working right winger like Figo, Sagnol is to me the better defender and also the better crosser out of the two. Reuter is more nimble and a shade more agile so he could probably fair a bit better against Lennon type of wingers, but going through the roster and the left wingers that are already picked Sagnol to me is a much better fit, all things considered.
