Dominique Janssen

I read the transcript because I still dislike listening to him. He mentioned something about how much ground Janssen covers, and that people don't see that - as though we are stupid.

Anyway, one thing I have noticed is that she is one of the first to reach the goalscorers to celebrate. She's ace.

He's not totally wrong to be honest - hers is a traditionally underappreciated role. I remember the years people wondered what the point of Michael Carrick was - unless you specifically watched him (I did, I was watching midfielders before it was cool!!) it was only when you took him out of the team that you realised what was missing.

To be fair, I suspect that Skinner is talking about how much ground she covers off the ball as well as on it, which is something that casual fans might easily not notice. Indeed, it's difficult even for us serious fans to appreciate this if we're watching on TV or via a stream, with the camera focused almost exclusively on the ball and the players immediately around it.

Also, I like your observation that she is usually one of the first to join goal celebrations. That seems to me like one of those little things that might seem trivial to outsiders but maybe really matter to teammates.
