Does Ronaldo start against Liverpool?

Our lads should be chomping at the bit at getting the chance to prove the result at Old Trafford earlier in the season was an aberration and excited at the chance of putting a significant dent in the title aspirations of our oldest rivals.

In reality they are probably pre-approving their post match Instagram platitudes about needing to do better with their agents or choosing a new hair stylist.

Yeah you are confusing this team with one who actually gives a shit about getting one over on our biggest rivals

I would play a 4-1-4-1 with Elanga as the player up top.

---------------------------De Gea------------------

Wan Bissaka-----Varane------Maguire--------Teles

---------------------------------Matic----------------------------------

Sancho----------Fernandes-----Pogba---------Rashford

---------------------------------Elanga------------------------

We are in the fortunate position of having amazing strength in depth with our striker options

Rashford is out of form but we can depend on cavani

OK well at least we have martial

Oh yeah but there is always Greenwood

Hummmm yeah ronaldo starts

Not ridiculous when we have Arsenal on Saturday
We aren't exactly in a position where we can afford to pick and choose which matches we want to try and win believe it or not.

I am not a big fan of him but there's no denying that Ronaldo is a great finisher. Due to his age he may not be involved in the game but in case he get a tiny chance, there's a big possibility he may convert it. Also he is good on set pieces.
Without him, we have no chance of getting something from this game. With him, we atleast have a tiny chance. So IMHO he should play.

no choice but to play him, as we have no other options.

Hoping for a kinder result vs Liverpool.

I think our only realistic chance of getting 4th is if we get a result on Tuesday.

Based on average points per game over the season for the teams in with a shout of top 4, we can more than afford to lose on Tuesday and still get 4th. Tottenham have still got to play Liverpool too, and Arsenal play Chelsea on Wednesday.

If United and Arsenal both lose midweek, then we beat them on Saturday, it’s totally doable.

Rest him like we did against city. Going to get battered no point risk injury

A point will be a massive result and we don't have the players to shut up shop. I dunno I think a 5-3-2 of Matic/Pogba/Bruno playing deep and Sancho and Rashford up top would suit better.

From a tactical perspective Cavani's workrates and pressing would have been much better suited with CR7 playing 30/35mins....Oh well.

Ronaldo is not the problem. He is one of the best headers so why are we trying to waltz into opposite boxes instead of trying to cross it for him?
Everyone is trying to play intricate passes while we are not good enough for those things. Ffs just cross it for him.

He does well against Arsenal and that's a more important match for us anyway so we should probably rest him midweek. We're getting a spanking at Anfield, Ronaldo or not.

I would play 5 at the back and 5 in midfield and no striker against Liverpool. Bring Ronaldo on for the last 20 mins to nick a goal and take the bad look off the 5-1 score line.

No he won’t play and I wouldn’t begrudge him the Arsenal game either or any games for that matter until he’s come to terms with his loss.

Anybody going through this horrendous situation wouldnt be working 24hrs later without a doubt.

Then you have Ronaldo, at Anfield…. Literally no idea. I wouldn’t be suprised either way.

those asking why or yes, just ask yourself, If you baby boy had just died would you be going to work ?

I mean, this thread was all discussion *before* the news came out; the answer is a given now.

Wouldn't be surprised if he wants to play as a way to get over this.
But as someone else sad, he should take all the time he wants. This is terrible for him.

No chance and that’s fine.

Football is just a game and it’s really not that important.
