Do you want to see Pep at United?

Great thread. Bluemoon needed something to laugh off and they won't find anything more comedic relief than this.

Should start a thread about wanting Klopp here too.

If Klopp ever wins the league with Liverpool there will definitely be posters on here that would want him as manager. That is the amount of self hate on this forum..

Can bet my money on some here already wanting him now but just waiting for chance to say it.

Not after he’s managed those cnuts across town.

Exactly, earlier on the season Liverpool were a shambles so very few would be brave enough to say it. Now that they are 'the best attacking side in the league' they are coming out of the woodwork to praise him. Nevermind that VVD has done nothing to fix their defense, and has in fact been quite error prone.

You might want to think about what you've written, because you've ignored a few points.

- Guardiola shipped out a goalkeeper for a goalkeeper that he didn't fancy so he got a new goalkeeper again
- Most clubs, including United and Chelsea cannot match the player turnover of Man City
- Fernandinho, Silva, KdB, Aguero and Sterling were all inherited. These are positions that are premium on the market. The outlay city have under Guardiola is astonishingly high because most of it is on a back line and squad players.

If Guardiola had to revamp the midfield and attack; then he would have spent considerably more. And the only places that this could be done would be City and PSG.
You're contradicting other posts in this thread. Apparently all Pep has done is spend money on better players than the ones he had, but he's also apparently just been lucky to have inherited players with world class potential. Which is it? Did he inherit good players and make them world class, or did he just buy world class players? Or did he do what most world class managers do anyway, and do both?

In the summer of 2016 City and United both finished level on 66 points. City have gone on leaps and bounds since then while United have made modest improvements at best, and the difference between the money we've both spent doesn't account for the gap that's currently there. Considering we only need two or three players in the summer, by the end of the next window (August 2018) we'll have spent roughly £550m since Guardiola took over. United, with the improvements needed (three or four new defenders, one or two new midfielders), could be looking at an outlay of nearly £200m in the summer, which would push your total spend under Mourinho close to £500m.

If we do better than you next season, which is likely, there will be nowhere to hide.

Oh, look, another lullaby to Pep and City. Didn't heard one in a long time.

Well, have to say no, bore off and good night.

I can understand this is a sensitive topic and a lot of people aren't impressed but I don't believe I've said anything controversial. After all the caf is a platform for fans to voice their opinions. I made a point and I gave reasons for it. You may agree with it. You may disagree with it. If you disagree state your point and give reasons for it instead of giving short answers. My thread isn't praising Man City. We've had enough of those this season. I'm looking at what people think about their manager taking over at our club in the future. Are fans open to this idea? It's that simple. We haven't had a thread like this in the past so that's why I've taken the time to make it.

Guardiola inherited an almost universally better squad than everyone in the league and still has outspent everyone! If it wasn't for Pellegrini being such an average manager, City would have won far more than they did.

You talk about replacing your back line in the last few seasons...United's back line is Young, Smalling, Jones and Valencia. That's all Ferguson players! We cannot replace them because we must use our money for other parts of the team!

How much would Sergio Aguero cost in the market? £150m?
How much would David Silva cost in the market? £60m?
How much would KdB cost in the market? £80m?
How much would Sterling cost in the market? £80m?

Imagine if you were in United's situation in 15/16 and had to buy a brand new midfield and attack, you spending would be far more than it is now. Luckily for you, your main priority was the backline which is far cheaper. Even then you've still outspent everyone.

then maybe United should get Conte because he took a team from 11th to 1st with 20 million net spend while Jose spent 150 million to go from 5th to 6th

Not really no, but we should hire his doctor and get him to juice our players to the gills.

1. Pep is only doing a better job than Jose because he inherited better players and spent more

2. Pep is doing such a good job that he must be doping or something like that

Have we? If we had you wouldn't start another one with a similar tone. Or maybe you are a city lover.

Just admit it. Admittance is the first path to recovery.

It is so easy for city fans to come in, make new profiles, and be a WUM.

Are posts like these reportable?

how can you say that Sir Alex is better than Pep with a straight face when it took Pep less than one year at Barcelona to make Sir Alex's greatest ever United team look like they were doing a mannequin challenge for 90 minutes in Rome.....

Do I? Absofeckinglutelynot

Did I? Absofeckinglutelyyes

See the trend? He's now managed City, now managed in the PL, just spot the trends, he won't be managing in England again for any other side, nor would United want a City manager. The ship sailed, big time. Move on.

Personally a big fat NO, after choosing City over us (well, I still prefer Mourinho), and I'm not that impressed with his player resource cycle and youth management at City. Exciting football though, and seemingly will won many trophies if they keep up with this form next season. But have Pep ever manage more than one club in a league, or manage the same club again not consecutively? Nope, seems like his plan is to have a go managing one big club per league. He's most likely off to PSG next to settle living there with his family.

Tbf, it's not a bad thread. Trying to be objective as much as possible, I'll consider him one day IF there are no other good alternative options. Like it or not, his CV is not bad - he is a winning manager that won trophies and can manage his team to play exciting football. I'm worried about his updated stance on promoting youth though. Also, bear in mind, Jose Mourinho may or may not stay for a long time (5+ seasons) with us, as his CV shows, so objectively, we have to prepare for another top class manager IF Jose decides to go one day. Hopefully he stays, but have to be realistic. Also, it's possible one day Mourinho suddenly became a bad manager (unlikely but hey it's possible) where his style of play and management doesn't work anymore with the change/growth in football and different collective generation of footballers respectively, and as much as I like and value loyalty, the club ethos of winning comes first.

You’re the idiot that ruined the game of thrones thread hey?

Hopefully you will never get promoted.

I wonder if anyone else sees parallels with the Arsene - SAF rivalry? The former was always eulogized in the media for his passing football, compared to a fine wine .Sir Alex on the other hand was the tough Glasgow ruffian from the docks and his football was effective and entertaining but not this 'art ' that Wenger had going on in London. It's got some symmetry to the Pep versus Jose story. And for what it's worth, I was quite happy with the expert of man management over football purist before and am happy to stick with that now as well .
This has got to be a joke. Are you seriously suggesting that Sir Alex has ever had a reputation for being an enemy of football and accused of negative tactics as much as Mourinho? Whether you think Fergie was like that or not is a different subject, but reputation wise? No, he has never been reputed for anything like to the point that you might argue the British media were biased. The reputation Mourinho has is only matched by some Italians really, the likes of Trappatoni or to a lesser extent Capello. Rafa had that image about him for a whole also although he is insignificant now. Again, not saying that Mourinho is in fact the way his reputation is but talking of reputations; Mourinho and Fergie are nothing alike.

I find it surprising how many user who reject pep here is the same who criticize jose week in week out & clearly not happy with him.

Exactly. As it is, Jose gets too much shit and even when his team scores and plays well he will always have this "defensive football", "park the bus" tags attached but it's nothing like SAF vs Wenger.

SAF teams went toe to toe against any teams and even if he gave bit more respect to Arsenal when it comes to possession, we were ruthless in counter attacking and more often than not, we out played them.
