Do we need to thank Houllier...?

As soon as he turned down the contract he clearly wanted out...for "career reasons" as he said..

It basically went like this

Bowyer considering contract - he says he wants to stay
Bowyer refuses contract - he wants to leave for career reasons
TV arrives - Bowyer claims this has had no change on his position
Liverpool pull plug on deal - Bowyer claims he never wanted to leave and is looking forward to a successful Leeds career under TV

Perhaps I'm just a bit cynical eh?

Great player, absolute twat..that is and has always been the case, hence the mixed thoughts..

Yes it is, it also goes to show he has been thinking along the same lines all the time.

He was in effect forced into talking to Liverpool as PR accepted a bid on him and was refusing to delete the clauses Bowyer did not like in his new contract.

knew he wanted to stay at Leeds...shame you can't quite grasp it....I feel though we are getting closer.

We're not getting any closer..

I've explained my point of view that you have no answer to and are choosing to ignore..

You're basing your side of the story on made up nonsense, such as Bowyer pulling out?? him never wanting to go?? and quotes that have occured once he realised that he had no option to go back to Leeds..

If other Leeds fans think like you do Bowyer will be laughing his head off...

It just goes to show you do not even bother to read other peoples posts.

Why do you not believe him when the fact is he obviously said before and after he met that he did not want to leave Leeds.

Come on Davo you are looking a prize ginger whinger now...the clues are there.

You lost out on a great player...he is a great player isn't he Davo?

Kinell and AEBM thinks I go on and on........

You two are the kings of going on and on.

Altogether now :

What are you basing the fact that he told GH he didn't want to leave Leeds on? This is nothing more that your misplaced loyalty to a player who will now end up playing for you purely cos he has no other options...

Once more, WE pulled out of the deal, a fact confirmed by Bowyer not disagreeing, when it would be in his interests to do so..

Here come the predictable insults you always resort to when you have no case to put forward...daft old cnut that you are..

He is an excellent player yes...and an absolute twat..he is a twat isn't he Marching?

The fact that Bowyer said he had doubts about leaving Leeds both before the meeting with and after

Once more, WE pulled out of the deal, a fact confirmed by Bowyer not disagreeing, when it would be in his interests to do so..

You have a strange way of providing facts..do you really think the FACT that Bowyer had doubts about leaving Leeds (see his quotes) had no bearing on the transfer falling through?

Here come the predictable insults you always resort to when you have no case to put forward...daft old cnut that you are..

Do they Davo?...looks like you just resorted to insults...I suppose that means you have no case to put forward doesn't it?

Hooray... You at last realise you have missed out on a great player - I think he has been a twat at times too

I've always said he's a great player..so what do you mean "finally" realised?

All you're doing is reiterating "facts" that do not exist...tell me, how do you know what he said to GH?

We're going to have to take this one step at a time as too much is confusing you, and you're missing out points (strangely enough the ones you need to ignore)

So answer the above question first...

It has been widely reported that Bowyer had doubts about leaving Leeds.. knew about these doubts.

Got any more daft questions Davo.....you seem to have gone off in a mood.

I notice another player that has been talked about on Liverpool forums has declined to join you...no doubt it was again down to though.

Striker Jean-Claude Darcheville has joined Bordeaux after turning down a move to Liverpool.
The Frenchman, has left Lorient for Bordeaux in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £6million.
He has revealed how he rejected the chance to move to Merseyside, despite meeting Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier and touring the club's training facilities, when he said: "Bordeaux are one of the great clubs of our championship. I have the opportunity to improve here with less pressure than in Paris or Marseille. I was tempted by Liverpool. I even visited the facilities and talked about my contract with Gerard Houllier.
"However, I would have gone there with less certainty. It is not an experience matter but I was not ready to take that challenge. In fact the Liverpool financial proposition was superior to the Bordeaux one.
"However, at first I thought about my personal improvement and I thought it would start by taking the Bordeaux step."
Darcheville scored twice in 19 appearances after joining The Reds on loan from Rennes.

Bordeaux has great wine! :)
liverp[ool has Mersey Water!
If you were french which would you chose? :D

It'll be interesting to see how the Leeds fans react to Bowyer next season. Most saw him as a treacherous, ungrateful and greedy git and wanted his guts for garters, after he had rejected Risdale's offer, but now that Bowyer has had a sudden change of heart, he's now back in love with leeds and its fans. He's obviously a two faced lying little git, so how will Leeds fans treat him?
They would be a mighty forgiving bunch if they were to support him once more, even though he's certain to leave in one seasons time...

"IF" he signs a new contract, he'll be hailed as a hero once again. All I know is Bo Peep's got her work cut out for her protecting her flock in this time of stress.

I agree it WILL be interesting - the Leeds fans I know have always given Bowyer their full support because he has produced the goods on the pitch and I expect they will continue to do that as long as he gets his head together and commits his future to the club by signing the contract he was offered.

I would much rather have in my team than anyone elses.

He's a really nasty piece of work....
in the Denis Wise mould....
And he played for England too! :(

Widely reported???

You're claiming them to be fact, and that Bowyer actually told GH this...you normally rant to Softie if he makes a claim without any evidence..

So we can safely dismiss this "point"..

Next

Why did Bowyer claim that "nothing has changed" when TV took over, if he was in fact looking forward to working with him and wanted to stay at Leeds?

But he never wanted to leave Leeds? Ask Marching...

so despite the fact that he seems to be a two-faced thug to everyone else, the Leeds fans will no doubt welcome him back - such is their desparation at the moment....

Oh you are back - I am sorry the posting went on past your bedtime Davo.

I posted quotes from Bowyer saying that he "always had doubts about leaving the club" and that "he never wanted to leave in the first place" - these quotes were made before and after the interest from Liverpool.

Only you Davo can't see that Bowyer making comments like those might put the deal in doubt and that he did not really want to sign for Liverpool.

Did you not read that the contract was ready for signing on Monday?

What were the quotes from about the deal falling through?

For crying out loud Davo....."nothing had changed" as the contract on offer to Bowyer from Leeds still included the clauses he did not feel were fair.

Comprendez?

Why are you only taking Bowyer's quotes from last May, and his current quotes about wanting to stay at leeds ( when he has no other choice) into account?

What about the fact that he wanted to leave "for career reasons"?

Who do you think decided he wouldn't be joining Liverpool?

Us, as per our statement..or Bowyer, who would benefit from telling the Leeds fans he pulled out of the deal if indeed he did?

You asked, presumably because you doubting the fact, when Bowyer had made the comments I highlighted...so I told you.

If memory serves me correctly I think the "career decision" quote comes from Bowyers agent...was it not a career decision he was forced into by the board putting him on the transfer list?

I think the decision was a joint one not to persue the move to Liverpool - the fact that obviously wanted him can be seen by the fact there was a contract to be signed on Monday morning....also the fact that Bowyer was having doubts about signing the contract can be seen in what he said. Having made those doubts clear to the deal was off.

What were the quotes made again Davo?

I believe the quotes re "career decision" came from Risdale...

I think its fair to say we can discount Bowyer's quotes about not wanting to leave Leeds when it became clear he had no other option. Do you agree with this?

GH hasn't spoked re the incident, we issued a statement claiming that GH wasn't convinced that Bowyer had the heart to become a Liverpool player..

If Bowyer was so set against leaving Leeds why did he speak to us in the first place, and refuse a la Keane and Sunderland?

I am sorry but you have got the facts wrong yet again....the words "career decision" were from Bowyers agent

I think its fair to say we can discount Bowyer's quotes about not wanting to leave Leeds when it became clear he had no other option. Do you agree with this?

No. Why would Bowyer make it known he did not really want to leave Leeds prior (as well as afterwards) to Liverpool coming in for him? It would not paint a good picture of him to would it. The option he had was to stay at Leeds and that's what I hope will happen.

GH hasn't spoked re the incident, we issued a statement claiming that GH wasn't convinced that Bowyer had the heart to become a Liverpool player..

So I take it those are thoughts - I wonder if Bowyer not wanting to really leave Leeds has anything to do with that statement

If Bowyer was so set against leaving Leeds why did he speak to us in the first place, and refuse a la Keane and Sunderland?

This has been said before you know...he refused to sign a contract which had clauses in it he was unhappy with and as such he was put on the transfer list..he did not ask to be...he had to talk to Liverpool and because he did not really want to leave the transfer fell through.

There was no movement from the board over the contract he had been offered and he obviously chose to talk to Liverpool - that does not take away his doubts about doing so does it?

But it doesn't mean he had to talk to us as you wrongly claimed....

Yeah, I'm sure Bowyer was thinking: "I don't want to leave Leeds" all along. With his red shirt and all...
