for killing the Bowyer purchase and tipping skinflint PR over the edge with the Rio deal? :D

I think the Rio sale was pretty much on the books the whole time.
He was only holding out for more dosh + appease the Leeds supporters.

I was just filled with glee that Leeds had to back down from their high-handed noon-dedline.
:D

 Yes, because you stumped up the last £2m.

I also hear that it was Bowyers decision to halt the move to Liverpool.... was under the impression he was signing today.

Hey marching, do you think Viduka will leave next? He was rather cryptic when commenting about Rio's potential move at that time. Give you a clue, he didn't say "Rio should stay cause if I were in his shoes I would".

As soon as we heard the Bowyer deal had fallen through, we said that Ridsdale would snatch at the Rio deal.

We could probably have dropped back to £25m. ;)

From £29m to £29.1m, where does £2m come from?Risdale shit himself when the Bowyer deal fell through. £29m had been on the table since at least Friday. The man's a prat, and you want to get rid quick!

I don't think they need to worry about fat Viduka going anywhere - he's pony and I can't see anybody bidding anything more than 6m for him and Grimsdale will probably be after about 20m but settle for 15m. So, no sale.

The offer on Friday was £26m which was then upped to £27m with £3m on appearences etc.

Kenyon was forced to go even higher at £29.1m with up to another £4m on appearences which was finally excepted.

At no point can you say PR shit himself and why should we get rid of someone that can turn £18m into £33m?

As I have said before good business all round.

maybe good business but that doesn't necessarily mean good football...i can't see leeds improving because of this deal.

Yeah

That fits in nicely with the fact that we pulled out of the deal...

Which liar to believe Houllier or Bowyer.

But that does not fit in with the contract being all ready to sign today....what does fit nicely is the fact that Bowyer had talked to TV again on Friday apparently before telling he had had second thoughts about leaving Leeds.

You would want to believe that tho wouldn't you?

You probably allow yourself to think that he never really wanted to leave in the first place....

Why has Bowyer not claimed it was him that pulled out if what you say was true?

Bowyer has said that he did not want to leave in the first place..hence no transfer request.

I am saying your idea that it was purely changing his mind about Bowyer is wrong....Bowyer voiced his doubts to LFC about leaving Leeds after the contracts were written and this is the "...does Bowyer have his heart in playing for Liverpool" line Houllier came out with. This doubt was only voiced at the last minute when everytrhing else had been agreed with both parties...hence the contract being due to be signed today.

Bowyer clearly did want to leave Leeds...he refused to sign the contract for "career reasons" knowing full well that he would then be transfer listed....on TV's arrival he declared that "nothing had changed"

Who says the contract was all finalised? If Bowyer had changed his mind why wouldn't he now say so?

Of course he's now going to try to appease Leeds fans with what they want to hear....he hasn't got any other options...

It will be interesting to see if he signs a new contract, which I presume you will now offer him again...

Bowyers new Leeds contract had clauses in it that restricted his social life on occasions which he felt were unfair and this was why he did not sign it...PR refused to back down and Lee went, "with reservations", to talk to Liverpool and was offered a deal whiich would have furthered his career without question. He was all along still uneasy about leaving Leeds especially now there was a new manager and told this.

It was widely repoerted that Bowyer was to sign today...the words "I have changed my mind" were not uttered but the fact that he told houllier he was still having doubts about moving show he was not happy about the move.

Where are you getting all this from?

We pulled out of the deal, Bowyer has said nothing to contradict this..instead now snivelling about how he wasn't sure if he wanted to leave, in an attempt to win back the affection of the dafter Leeds fans..

He seemed happy enough to leave you until we pulled out...as he reinstated when TV took over

he's making it up...btw, did you hear bowyer wanted 65K/week, i.e. "michael owen" money??? i'm surprised thommo didn't punch him!

Don't you think that Bowyer having second thoughts about leaving Leeds had any bearing on whther the transfer went through?

It is well known that he said at the time he felt he was being forced out of Leeds regarding an, in his eyes, unfair contract.

Who you going to get now to fill the void?

No I don't...I believe that if we wanted to sign him we would have...

I note you have yet to answer the question raised 3 times as to why Bowyer has not contradicted Liverpool's announcement, if it were him that changed his mind...

No idea who we'll get...I'd have thought we'd be more interested in Duff...

Do you think Bowyer will sign a new contract then?

Duff does not play where Bowyer does so that will fill one void but not RM will it?

I could not care less what you believe Davo I am telling you what I have been told and have read.

The contract was ready to be signed and Bowyer voiced doubts whether the move was what he really wanted to do and the move was off.

There is no contradiction needed is there? As I have said having the doubt says it all...to most of us anyway.

What Bowyer said...

"I never asked to go on the transfer list and made it clear to Mr Ridsdale that I had reservations when they accepted Liverpool's bid. So it is probably in the best interest of all parties that the deal did not go through.

"The arrival of Terry Venables was also a major factor in my thinking that this was not the right time to be leaving Elland Road.

"With the players we have and with Venables as manager I genuinely believe we have an excellent chance of winning something this season."

As to signing him a new contract - I would imagine he will as he has been booked on a flight to Australia to join his teammates on Wednesday.

You're foolishly believing what he has said since we pulled the plug on the deal...what do you expect him to say?

"Its a real blow for me not to join Liverpool, so I'm just going to have to back to Leeds as I've had no other offers. This is a real shitter, as I obviously don't want to stay at Leeds...which is why I refused the contract and was still keen to leave when TV took over"

There is clearly a contradiction in what you believe (or are forcing yourself to) and what the player and club have said...Bowyer could win back for more support from the Leeds fans if he did decline the move if he actually said so, so if this what happened why would he keep schtum?

Your version of events makes little sense..you'll probably skirt the issue and become abusive in your next reply due to your realisation of this..

I believe we want at least one more wide midfielder who can provide something decent..hence Duff now becoming our top target

I can well understand Duff being a target Davo but I am sure that I read on a Liverpool site that Duff does not play in the same position as Bowyer and therefore one does not substitute the other.

You really should keep up with the news Davo -Bowyer made his comments about not wanting to leave Leeds long before this weekend...in fact it was when he was put on the transfer list.

You seem to live your life as though it is lived in a school playground - Bowyer has been a favourite with the Leeds fans since he signed and has been our best player year after year. If he comes back and plays how we know he can Leeds fans could not care less about who said what when at Anfield.

What you quoted Bowyer as saying came after we'd pulled out of the deal..so I'm not really sure as to what you're going on about...

The fact that you keep avoiding the issue I'm addressing suggests that you agree that what I've said makes sense...and that you don;t really believe your speculation re Bowyer pulling out of the deal....which makes no sense

I thought Ferdinand has been your best player since he signed? You were slating Bowyer's contribution last season when it appeared that he would be joining us..

See my above comment re Duff, if you need further clarification just ask again...

You more than anyone knows about things getting said more than once - Bowyer said he did not want to leave Leeds when he was first put on the transfer list and again to Houllier when the contract was ready to be signed...hence it not going through

You just can't stand the fact that Bowyer had anything to do with the deal collapsing can you? Get used to it...he did!

I thought Ferdinand has been your best player since he signed? You were slating Bowyer's contribution last season when it appeared that he would be joining us..

Rio has been good since he joined us and has improved...it will be good to see a former Leeds man helping them to the title this year ;) Bowyer did not have a good season for all the reasons we all know about and I am allowed to criticise my players aren't I?

See my above comment re Duff, if you need further clarification just ask again...

I am pleased you think Duff will do the job Bowyer was going to do for you.

Don't Leeds realise that Bowyer has just shafted their club even more??
He will leave on a Bosman, thats the only way he can get the signing on fee he wants and I fully expect him to be at a Top London club next Year.
Thats 9M less Leeds will have to sign his replacement :D

the only reason this deal didn't go through was because bowyer was a greedy little cnut...end of.

Your theory makes no sense Marching..

Once more, why has Bowyer not contradicted our statement? Its in his interests to do so...

You making up what you hope Bowyer may have said is no basis for an argument...

Davo you must surely be the most boring poster on here.

Why should Bowyer have to enter into tit for tat sayings to please anyone. He has said all along he was not 100% convinced leaving Leeds was the right thing to do. He never asked to leave and now will be joining up with TV and the squad in Oz and he will hopefully he get the contract signed and start scoring a few goals.

Get over it - you lost out on a great player.

?????

You can't think of any reason why Bowyer would say so if it were him who pulled out?

He clearly wanted to go, as he said....where has he said he didn't want to go since he was listed?

I'm over him not joining. Like most Liverpool fans I was never convinced about the deal anyway...but you seem to be deluding yourself with a nonsense theory to help soften the blow of one your best players wanting out..

It really does not make any difference if he says it or not...only to you. Most Leeds fans want Bowyer back at Leeds doing what wanted him to do for you.

He has said he did not want to go in the last few days hasn't he.

He also said this as long ago as mid-May

"I've had great support from the fans ever since I have been here, and I want to tell them that I don't want to leave.

"I want to stay at Leeds and I'm hopeful things will be sorted. There's been some rubbish in the papers about how I've been in Manchester and here and there. I've been nowhere - just in my house.

"People say I'm stalling, but I'm not doing that. I'm waiting for the chairman to get back to my agent, so it's nothing to do with me stalling.

"I want to stay here and if they want me to stay they will give me the contract I want."

As I have said the contract he was offered had clauses in it that he did not like and he would not sign...PR then put him on the transfer list without Bowyer asking for a move.

I am pleased you are over losing him but I presume you still think he is a great player.

Yes thats a very old quote isn't it?

As soon as he turned down the contract he clearly wanted out...for "career reasons" as he said..

It basically went like this

Bowyer considering contract - he says he wants to stay
Bowyer refuses contract - he wants to leave for career reasons
TV arrives - Bowyer claims this has had no change on his position
Liverpool pull plug on deal - Bowyer claims he never wanted to leave and is looking forward to a successful Leeds career under TV

Perhaps I'm just a bit cynical eh?

Great player, absolute twat..that is and has always been the case, hence the mixed thoughts..
