Do any of you feel we're still struggling to get into the rhythm?

Expectations need to be tempered, things will take time but we must maintain patience, as long as we can see the ideas shining through on the pitch then I am happy to wait it out.

At this stage of the season with a new manager, I don't expect them to be in the so called rhythm. It will take a season or two to get us into ETH's world beating, cup accumulating greatest team of all time which is what we are all dreaming of.
What I want to see at this stage is players putting in an effort every time they put on the shirt. Players like Rashford and Marshial walking around is not tolerable anymore and I hope ETH subs them as soon as they drop their heads and stop trying.

It's hard to tell. We started last season with a bang but it turned out that Leeds were actually f@cking awful. I said during the second game against Southampton that we didn't look anywhere near fit - and we weren't.

But you can't make excuses that it was early in the season. the point of pre-season is to be fit and ETH brought the guys back early so they should be ready to go. When did you ever se an SAF team not ready in August? If this group of players turns out not to be fit enough, we are in for at least another five years of a trophy vacuum.

I sort of agree with the confidence thing but you can't go on blaming that for game after game, year after year. I'm just hoping that ETH can get the Ole years out of people's systems. I said he'd be a disaster for the club and it's proving worse than I feared. No more Mr Nice Guys, please. And of course the men in suits need to pull their fingers out of their arses and get transfers done

Bloody hell we’re a miserable bunch. They’ve not been coached in a proper system for half a decade & only 3 players have joined. Some absolute doom & gloom merchants wanted to be ‘first’ to call things out.

I don’t know what miracles people were expecting this Summer but we’re about what you could expect. Good in patches, bad in others.

100% and it's going to take a while so patience will be needed. They'll no doubt be games where the Caf will think we're gonna win the league and then games where we'll look mid table at best but it's a process. The annoying thing for me is the timing of the World Cup as it's likely we'll probably be finding our rhythm about then!

It will take time and a couple more transfer windows before we are really in the groove of this new play style. We need to temper expectations and be patient this year.

Its a massive learning curve for most of this team and some might not be able to keep up the high press all game. I expect the first 7/8 games we will be all over the shop performance wise, but then gradually it will click and maybe one or two players who started the season playing, will be swapped with other players, who can manage the system better. The 5 sub rule might actually benefit us better as well.

Not really. With the way we're playing now, all we need to do is take all the chances in the first half and we're easily 2-3 goals ahead.
It's either players still so stubborn not to pass to better positioned players or just too selfish to do it.

I couldn't care less if they switched off trying to keep the ball in the 2nd half.

The last 2 pre season game was really clear for me they need to finish those chances. Yes, Chong and Elanga, I'm looking at you guys.

Barcelona need to register all their incomings by Aug 13th. I hope we can register FDJ by then too. If we should do any better than last season, we definitely need a player of FDJ's caliber. It makes me so happy to know that at some point we might have a midfield 3 of Bruno, Eriksen and De Jong. It is something we all have been waiting for. We deserve a talent packed United XI that can produce some mind blowing football game after game. I'm sure we're always keeping our feet grounded but we have to celebrate a trophy soon. Any trophy!

We are a work in progress. Of course the players are struggling to get into the rhythm. I know it's been a long time now since we have been good and the last thing anyone wants to hear is "patience". But that's what's needed right now as we are finally on the right track (I hope)...

Yes but the players still need a season to really understand what the coach requires each individual to do under certain circumstances. He will talk to them all the time but like ETH mentioned before the pre season tour, he has a lot of information about football and the way he likes it played and that it would take a long time for it to be delivered to the players. I hope the players can sponge all the information and play accordingly but we all know how good our squad's been in the past decade. I think it is realistic for us to not expect a lot from them until ETH figures out a way to push them hard. He may have to change a lot of things around but I believe ETH has the capability to push players to out perform themselves. I hope indeed.

For all those who thought what I was talking about was rubbish. This first half against Brighton is your example. These set of players just cannot take any kind of instructions because they are not smart players. Slow, inconsistent, slow again, no tricks to get past players, zero confidence, cannot support or push each other, useless on the ball and we will not win anything let alone trophies with this team. It is so aimless to play in front of the 75k fans like this. There are smaller stadiums in the world that raises more sound than OT right now. I hope ETH is backed and we get FDJ or this season is done. We need FDJ, Denzel Dumfries and a striker, maybe Sesko!
