It IS a good thing to get through to the second round, and credit are due to all teams in the second round cause they are all class acts. However, the game yesterday showed what a difference it is between LFC and a truly top European team. Barca controlled the game from the very first minute, and Michael Owen was totally eliminated. His goal was well taken, and it illustrates well how dangerous it is to drop the ball against LFC when building up an attack. Owen is a lethal striker in such a situation, and when De Boer failed to step up alongside Andersson to make Owen offside little Mikey punished them right away. But besides that LFC had nothing, and in the second round all defences have brickwall type of defenders like Andersson to stop the scousers from scoring. Welcome back to top Eurpean football! It's a bit patronising all this welcome to the big boys stuff...we've won more european cups than you lot, we have annihialated you in our last couple of meetings. we've only lost once to a good side who spent 60 million over the summer...it's just one game, one we could very easily have won had we been a little more fortunate.
I think with hamann back in the side and riise back in left midfield and vignal left back we will test barca in the nou camp. I think it might suit us better playing them away...time will tell
