It's just so funny how crazy this place is sometimes, he wasn't bad by any stretch. He made mistakes yes, so did most of our players apart from Shaw who was brilliant. The stats back up that Dalot had a more than a decent game.Was kind of funny because I gave him a seven out of ten in the ratings and I recognized that he had some sloppy moments but then i come into this thread and all i see is 'he was dreadful, he was awful, shocking etc.' and then i start questioning my own appraisal, like, am i watching the same game?. I'm glad the stats back it up.
I still stand by that he had some very poor moments but there are times when he looks a very good player. One instance in the first half in particular where he played a pass with his weaker foot that was fantastic.
Cancelo is a full back he has 87% this season so 82% for a full back who didn't have his best game by any stretch is not the end of the world. Trent has 77% so.

Made a lot of miss passes that gave me heart attacks, got himself into shot on goal and deliver it straight to their defender
Overall I don't know if its the manager and our staff who ask him to do it or his decision but I don't see him do anything on the wing with Antony. He's not overlapping or underlapping and give us an offensive lay out.
He let Antony today to try and dribble pass 2 defenders by himself and he waited from the back.

I hope he gets a rest next Thursday. Worst performance (if we ignore the City game) of the season, when he's been probably the most consistent player. He was relatively good for the most part, but some lapses of concentration with risky passing in dangerous areas.

Some sloppy balls but looks like a proper full back to me again. Strong when he needed to be in the last 10 minutes. I think it's going to work out for him.

You can see his intention, always trying to play the progressive pass and option where it opens the field rather than just playing it to Antony down the line (who will probably have 2 players in his vicinity etc).
Defensively, he was quite solid, which is why I'm willing to give that leash as it's a good base to work with.

Both those players are way more attacking than Dalot. Trent’s in particular will be vastly reduced by crossing.
Stats without context make no sense. Cancelo and Trent play much more difficult and attacking passes and in turn get more assists.
Dalot was poor with the ball today.
Just put two players who happen to be good at passing to show that his numbers weren't that bad as a full back. Thought he did ok today, couple very value placed passes but other than that fine.

If we ignore the number of errors he made today, he had a decent game.
Probably he and Malacia have been playing too many games in short time. I don't think it's coincident that both performance are affected negatively.
Dalot just looks absolutely jaded. Where's AWB when you need him?
In addition to giving the ball away numerous times, Dalot was slipping a lot. Not an assuring performance.

I think it was one of his worst games this season. 2-3 absolute hospital passes that could have cost us.
Mr Suicide passes. He's not comfortable when being pressed at all and panic passes his way out. Still vastly better than AWB though.
Thought city was his worst after being tied in knots by Grealish from the first minute. But yeah this was poor too

Weirdly though, hes also much improved at the same time.
I think like the rest of the team this is a game he will learn from, he's shown improvement and is getting better. Everton pressed us high and did a good job but dalot didn't drop his head and defensively was good. He'll learn from this in terms of when to do those passes and when not to. I think he has a few more levels to go up.
Agree. Hes certainly improved but I would look to improve at least one fullback position this summer or RB in Jan.
Competition is healthy and right now he has none. I feel we need a real serious attacking weapon at fullback.
Where is Di’shon Bernard? Maybe he could play in Europa league so Dalot will get rest. I remember he played right back for Hull last season.

It was indeed troubling. I'm a big fan and will take him any day of the week over AWB (who Dalot kind of reminded me of yesterday), but he needs to cut down on these mental errors.
He isn't good enough and we'll get found out if we don't improve on his position in Jan/summer
If that isn't proof that you can cherry pick stats to make a bad performance look good, I don't know what is. I've been impressed with Dalot this year, and I'm glad he's giving us a solid option down that side where we'd otherwise only have AWB, but he was an absolute bombscare in that game.

Honestly think apart from a few horror loose balls he was his usual self. Good defensively and decent with a couple mistakes going forward. Definitely not a horrow show.

I find he's ok when pressed personally. The big worry against Everton was that in almost all the instances where he gave away the ball in dangerous areas, he wasn't under any pressure, and his teammates were mostly moving up the field

Of course. It's not just how many times you lose possession but where you lose it. You can make 50 good passes but if you give 3 away in dangerous areas then that's what will matter. He did that on Sunday.
