His heading is such an asset, comes in and reads the danger, something AWB lacks and we get caught out for.

Needs to be kept in the team, even if he has a bad game. Just someone tell him to stop shooting please.

As others have said his positioning and ability in the air is better than AWB. Obviously his tackling isn't as good but as with most defensive positions good positioning often means you don't have to make recovery tackles.

That’s a bit OTT. It’s not that he can’t cross the ball but his crosses were over-hit or didn’t reach the target. There’s no problem with his technique and he gets decent shape of the ball from either foot. He needs to calibrate his crossing more than anything.
Out of all his crosses in a United shirt, about 20-30% are actually good. Thats no way near good enough nor is it OTT. Every game he overhits crosses that end up going to the OTHER full back.

Hes not not even aiming. He did it twice today and one hilarious one where there were 3 in a great area, he doesnt aim and just pulls it back behind all of them. Thankfully enalanga was there to muster an awkward volley.

Good on defence and build up, but awful on final third.

Or should I say, awful on final third, but good on defence and build up?

It’s still hard to see him as much of an upgrade on AWB in the absence of any obvious improvement over AWB’s biggest weakness (the attacking third)

Do we think he's locked down RB under Ralf or is there a chance for an AWB redemption?

Has to stop shooting for christs sake.

Overall today was our best performance i feel under Rangnick, but we have to less selfish in and around the oppositions box. Too many wild shots.

Now this was a much better game. His performance was really overrated against Brentford, but this was quite good. His defending was very impressive. Still don't think his crossing is very good, though. Our crosses have been mostly poor and his are no exception. His use of the ball in the final third isn't amazing, but his all around game has been good. He deserves to keep starting.

If AWB still play like before, AWB will be Donnied by Ralf. Like others said, Dalot's intensity and build up play put him above.

I think Dalot is first choice but I'm sure AWB will get games unlike Ole who froze one of them out

What evidence are you basing that opinion on?

Hes been one of our better players since he’s come in. the assist stats aren’t there because nobody is really scoring in the attack but for me what’s standing out is he’s a more confident dribbler and he’s a bit more inclined to play a quick probing pass. He’s better on the counter and when teams are pinned back. His crosses were always a strength and should be again once he finds his range. AWB turns back and plays it safe a lot, I think AWB is still a more consistent 1v 1 defender but he’s almost too cool. We get sucked into playing at a pedestrian tempo too often and I think Dalot actually speeds us up and adds bite

Thought he did well again. He's definitely been one of the big improvers under Rangnick. Whether it will be enough come the end of the season I don't know but he's definitely put his hand up to say that at the very least he's not this useless Portuguese RB everyone thought. He's a bit away from matching Mourinho's assertion of his talent it is fair to say, but I am happy to see him on the team sheet at this moment.

He's no Trent but his passing, dribbling and his give and go are all better. AWB touch and lack of control always make linked up play virtually impossible.

Simply passing a ball also doesn't look like it's the hardest thing in the world with him too, so that's a bonus.

Pretty sure one of them was deliberate and it was probably the right choice as Telles should have been in a fantastic position in open space. Unfortunately Telles had stopped his forward run just before Dalot made the cross, so by the time he got going again and got on the ball the chance was mostly gone.

Id rather him in the team than AWB any day of the week.

Loved his celebration at full time.

My MOTM today. He’s no where near world class, but what he adds to this team over AWB is so obvious. Every attack down our right side isn’t immediately dead now because he can actually use his brain, progress the ball forward and not pass it back after taking 6 touches every single time.

I still think we can do a lot better in the position but incrementally he is getting better with this run in the side and deserves to retain his place over AWB right now. His shooting is appalling so just stop it please but today he was much more disciplined about his defensive duties which was a major improvement over his horror show against Villa and after years of hearing about his supposed offensive attributes I must admit I did see 1 accurate cross from him today. Baby steps but maybe there is a squad player in there after all.

Growing with each game, I don't see AWB getting back in the side. He's simply not a good enough footballer and Ragnick has decided Dalot is his first choice for now.

There is something really satisfying to me when a player who was written off by all, takes his opportunity with both hands and goes about proving everyone wrong.

BTW, anyone know why he goes by Diogo Dalot instead of Jose Teixeira?

He’s absolutely blown AWB out of the water. Good for him after being written off by so many and an incompetent coaching staff.

We can clearly agree that there are different classifications of a bad cross. His problem is over-hitting them and not the technique itself. This is something that can be sorted out in the training.

Isnt the weight of a cross not part of technique? Were going into too much detail. His deliveries are nothing like a top 6 full back let alone a top 4 one.

Tierney, Reguilon, Cancelo, Walker, Robertson, James, Alonso, Telles, Cresswell, etc. All are vastly superior in their deliveries.

He needs to get that right before being considered as a long term option. Being better than AWB isnt good enough given how bad the latter was this season.

lul are you having a laugh? AWB is league one level on the ball.
opposing teams completely ignore him in the attacking third and have no problem overloading our left side.
in addition, he's killing our build-up. he acts as a pressing trigger when he is on the ball.

you know, attacking isn't just crossing.

Most improved player at mo. Still some issues with his game but defensively, think he really improving.

Really, really liked his performance today. Aware, good control in tight spaces and shows grit. He seems far more suited to the PL now than his first time here.
His end product may need some improvement, but I´ll but it down to more than only his ability. He often has one or two targets against several defenders. It's a hard task. Even Telles' end product looks weak because he just swings it in to a defenders head.
