Do you think the two clubs are still waiting to see who blinks first? Bit late for all that, we would have heard something concrete by now.
Be more shocked if someone came at this stage, 5pm isn't far off.

There's no way we wanted this out. No way whatsoever. Every other defender we have had clear links with, i.e. Boateng, Maguire and Godin, have been clear non-starters. Mina I think is his agent linking us and hoping, as no quality sources have linked us.

As much as Spurs know they will get less for Alderweireld if they don't fold now, they also know that we don't have any genuine alternatives. Unfortunately, I think it is too late now. The deadline is 5pm after all and not a late night one.

I've read that he had an £18m clause and we had a bid rejected. Hopefully both false. But wouldn't put it past Ed to bid £10m now and then £30m when the clause ends

Not optimistic we'll get anyone through the door, we don't even need another CB. Way to fill your current CB's with confidence Jose making a complete song and dance about it to the media, just get it done or don't!

Simon Stone and Luckhurst tweeted within minutes of each other with virtually the same line not long after Sky's breaking news, that United did make contact but he was due to sign a new contract with Athletico. An obvious briefing from someone within the club.
 
Our scattergun approach to signings is desperately pathetic. Typical of Ed Woodward, unfortunately. Why put out that we have approached Atletico Madrid for Godin and then let it be known that that approach was rejected less than an hour later. It's just deflating.

Not only that, it was firstly a loan, then we find out he has a £18m release clause, then Godin agrees a contract IN PRINCIPLE with Atletico.

Now if there remains an £18m release clause why talk about loan, just buy him. Stop messing about! Godin is head and shoulders better than what we have in central defence.

Having said that, it's not the area of the pitch, I think is the priority for improvements, anyway. Again.

Our top two targets seem to be Toby and Maguire. Its not that random

What a player though. But you cant just keep saying '..sign for United because we will double, triple your money...' that's no way to build a squad, you just create a culture of individuals.

Mourinho is going slightly mad. I honestly think this. And this reflecting poorly on Ed Woodward . This is his fourth Manager under his stewardship. Does he appoint managers and just say ' tell me who you want and I will write the cheque...'.

We are spending money like no tomorrow, yet we always seem a fragile squad.

There is no way this will happen. In fact, I doubt there was even a bid for Atletico to reject.

Ed has the list for months. Jose has been quick to point that out.......It's on Ed and the owners whatever their reasons for not delivering. They are trying to make it appear they are trying but the proof is in the pudding....

Whenever a player has a release clause, Ed's on it, but not otherwise. Maybe a negotiation problem?

How is this putting pressure on Levy when all of the media has reported there is virtually 0 chance of this transfer happening.
 
Is Godin a ball player CB? I thought that was the profile we were after? Something about our CB not being able to start attacks being the reason our football is awful.

I don’t understand what our approach is.

Zouma yesterday, Godin today... I am sure there will be more before the end.

Don't believe everything they say, it's just to fill the papers and get betting money.

I would question if there was an £18m release clause, because if it exists, why not activate it and get him in. He hasn't signed his new contract. Now if Godin isn't interested in a move, that's different.

Got to say when I first heard of this one, I just couldn't see it happening. It sounded, to me, like a bit of last minute desperation.
