Descent action film but doesn't come close to the first one. Possibly the second best after that.
I loved that part. It really was an excellent film. It had a shit load of explosions, humour a fit bird and Bruce Willis. What more could you want?

I saw that jet scene on CNN and thought "wtf?" and decided to not see the movie.
It's fecking hilarious at the end when he and his daughter are in the ambulance and he says to the guy:"Hospital".Where the feck else would he be going?

Its a very fun entertaining action movie.
I don't care whether it's unbelieveable or not, if its being realistic, McClane will be dead long before the middle of Die Hard I.
Overall I'd give a 7.5 out of 10 simply for being entertaining, catchy one liners, fit birds, and Maggie Q

I just finished watching die hard 4.0 and it was fecking ace. i was also quite suprised to see flyleaf make an appearance right at the beginning, and the ninja asian bird was well fit.

wouldn't exactly go that far. It's certainly a great film but you can't beat the third one - the combination of Willis and Sam Jackson was genius

The funny thing is that Sean Connery was the very first choice for the role of Simon Gruber. He turned down the role of course.
Third one was the most real as well.
As stupid as that sounds, it was the one that didn't make me think 'wow this is completely ridiculous' although it obviously was. I think this one was too much, although it was enjoyable and entertaining, it was just a few too many completely impossible scenes that took some of the fun out of it.
I think the next step is to get Keifer Sutherland on the set and do 'Die Hard 24'. That would feature those two going through an entire country of terrorists and law-breakers, with a death tally nearing the millions.
To be honest, I haven't seen the new die hard but from what I've seen and heard it doesn't look as good as the 3rd one, or even the 1st.
The 3rd one had one of the all time best movie plot storys ever and as you said didn't go over the top with the action.
From what I can remember, the 1st one had great action and a not to bad plot line.
The 2nd one was crap if I remember off the top of my head. No action and an average at best plot. It kind of reminds me of Alien 3. But at least Alien 3 had an ok plot.
