Gaming Destiny | Rise of Iron launch

Did I miss HM? Any of you still needing to do it I'll be up for it tomorrow eve...
I'll run it again, mate. I want to keep going while the loot gods favour me.

@Waldner - Add me, if you want. Brocky36

I'll burn through a few missions with you tomorrow, so you get Cruicible access. I need to do some PvP for an exotic bounty, also.

Just reading bungie's latest news/expansion notes. Seems we are going to be able to level up our exotics to match the newer ones, though in doing so all progress on them will be wiped. Highly annoying. I'm not going to enjoy releveling up a whole bunch of exotics again, took ages the first time round. May only do it for a select few and dump the rest in the vault for good.

 the bungie forum is now unavailable. Seems it can't handle the load from people coming to complain about the latest news.

I shant be releveling any gear, ill just do the new stuff to get to 32.
out side of icebreaker i dont have any exotics id be that desperate to relevel.

"You’ll need three things. First, you need to own the original version of that exotic item, and turn it in to exchange for the upgraded version. It doesn’t matter if this old version of the item is brand new or fully upgraded. To complete the upgrade, you’ll also need to turn in an exotic shard. This recently introduced new material is available for purchase for seven strange coins from Xur, or by breaking down another existing exotic item in your inventory. Finally, each exotic upgrade costs a hefty dose of cash – around 7000 glimmer as of my playthrough of the expansion in mid-November. After turning all three of these things into Xur, he’ll hand you a brand new version of your item with a higher defense or attack value cap.
It’s important to note that this process resets the upgrades on your exotic item, but you’ll now have a new higher damage or defense cap to work towards – so you’ll need to decide if you’d rather keep your fully upgraded old version of a weapon or armor piece, or start over. With that said, the process of upgrading exotic items is now faster, and does not require ascendant materials. Instead, the last slot requires one additional exotic shard, as revealed in Monday’s patch."

Hopefully they'll react to the response. It seems crazy, just shitting on their core fanbase. "Oh, you enjoy the game enough to grind away, levelling gear? Well feck you, that time is now a complete waste"

TBF, it's an 'opt-in' thing. You can keep your exotics at their current level, if you want to.

Whether doing so means that you would be so less effective in the new raids that they become nigh on impossible, or not, is what counts, I guess.

They messed up by not mentioning it at same time as the patch came out so people would have warning. I hadn't dismantled any exotics yet so I'm not affected by this as much but plenty are.

I am not sure I really understand the uproar.

Yes it's annoying they didn't tell people before the patch, so many have wasted an exotic shard already fully upgrading an exotic.

At the end of the day though they are still further upgrading that armour, the only downside is you lose the perk on that piece for a little while. That is made up though for the extra armour/damage it will receive.

Depending how long it will take to level back up, that could be the make or break. My icebreaker took ages to upgrade, but the perks are hardly fantastic so the damage is the important thing.

Hopefully they change it that if it's already fully upgraded you don't need a exotic shard to buy the upgrade version.

That would be true, except that you can do the same upgrade on a gun that hasn't been levelled at all. So those that put the time into upgrading now have absolutely nothing to show for it compared to someone who picked up the gun and never used it. It would make more sense if the gun had to be fully levelled in order to exchange it.

Oh yeah, of course. I just don't see how it justifies the insane internet rage that's going on. Yeah, they should have probably mentioned it before the recent patch, at least....but it's going to take most people a couple of days to have a weapon back to max. Less, if you use one of the booster thingymabobs. It's really not a huge issue, imo.

On a side note; I personally think that Exotics are not exotic enough. For me, legendaries should have a drop-rate on par with the current exotic setup. Tweaks would have to be made to either weapon damage or enemy resists to compensate, of course....but I would definitely make the really good stuff slightly less abundant, if it was up to me.

Completed HM, still no VoC :(

Been trying to find a normal group for my Titan but getting people to learn how to kill Templar is so painful.

Me and 2 friends will probably be doing normal tonight if your interested. Will let you know for sure later.

I will jump in with my 27 Warlock, if possible. Not sure how he will fare, though, as I have really only done HM with my Hunter.
Yeah 27 should be fine. You will feel the same way you did at 29 on HM really. It's much easier to do aswell as you can be revived.
I'm up for that assuming this illness hasn't killed me by then.
Ha! sleep up, take some medicine and get your war face on soldier.

Who is up for HM tonight? I've got the oracle checkpoint
  • me
  • afro
I'm in. But would anyone mind if I did a lot of switching? I need to do the oracles with my warlock, the templar with my titan, then probably the rest with my warlock.

Nice, got another Ice Breaker at the postmaster. Don't know if I got it in the raid last night (most likely thing as I only got three awards that I noticed for beating Atheon instead of four), the weekly today or the daily today.

I'm fine just doing whatever by the way. Didn't need to do Cerberus Vae but was a nice way to just use some of the many resupply codes I've got
Yeah, i had a couple of bounties to get out of the way and I need glimmer.

@tom33 - You boosted into me on your Sparrow, slammed me into a door frame and killed me stone dead.

Haha! I wondered what had happened. I was pissing about with the raid sparrow, using the double boost until it exploded, to see if it hurt enemies when it did. For the record, I don't think it does, but it can obviously kill teammates if I hit them hard enough!
