I agree. We are lacking leaders on the pitch and in the dressing room. Someone to guide these young players through a game and give them confidence.Possibly, but the percentage of youth players that actually make it is so small you just don't know. Garner is definitely a talent but plays a role that players usually don't make their own at a high level until mid 20's. I'd love to see him come through, but for a big club like United we should never not buy players because we think we have young, unproven players coming through.
If Garner is good enough, he will break into the team, if not then so be it. Competition should only be a good thing, the goal of young players should be to develop their game so that they can break through, not United choosing not to invest in the squad and taking chances on young players instead.
Same with Greenwood, Gomes and any other youth players. Bringing them into the squad now might do more harm than good. People always reference the class of 92, but compare the players they had around them vs what we have now. Poor examples and lack of leaders/role models, combined with a team lacking confidence is not a good environment to bring young players through.
As good as Partey for me and has been in top form all season. Raphael Honigstein was waxing lyrical about him last week and said he does the job of three and referred to him as 'storm Denis'He should be a priority for us this summer. Brilliant performance again today. Proper box to box midfielder who makes some crucial plays on both sides of the pitch.
He will be very expensive. He's probably Gladbach's most important player, they will likely be in the Champions League, and other clubs will be in for him.He should be a priority for us this summer. He can play both the #6 and #8 and it has been reported that we're looking for midfielders that fit that profile. If he's a box to box midfielder, then he shouldnt be a priority, in my opinion. A holding midfielder and/or an attacking midfielder should be priority.

The only reason such players are called specialists is due to them being limited going forward and the chap at Leicester, Ndidi is one example. Zakaria could easily sit and play to a high level but has alot more in his locker depending on what the manager expects.Reported that we're looking for a midfielder who can play as a 6 and 8? I havent seen that.
I personally believe we should be looking at a specialist to play as a 6, rather than someone who is decent in both positions. We have Fred and McTominay who can do that.
Conversely the reason these players ‘can do jobs’ in two positions is because they’re not good enough to specifically tick all the boxes for that one specified role. The only reason such players are called specialists is due to them being limited going forward and the chap at Leicester, Ndidi is one example. It would severely limit someone like Zakaria to make him just sit and concentrate on shielding the defence. He could more than do that against top level opposition. But against 90% of the teams we come up against, you just don't need such a limited player when there's players like Zakaria who could do both.Conversely the reason these players ‘can do jobs’ in two positions is because they’re not good enough to specifically tick all the boxes for that one specified role.

It's actually a no brainer signing him and I posted tweets in January where it was reported that we were looking for players who could play both the #6 and #8 role, which I'm strongly in favour of.

That's very high praise Adnan, if that's the case Zakaria should be a priority. I rate Ndidi highly by the way, but he would cost a fortune and I feel we do lack a proper CDM, someone that will shield the defense much better than past it Matic and easy to bypass Fred. The only reason such players are called specialists is due to them being limited going forward and the chap at Leicester, Ndidi is one example. It won't be easy to sign him if Raphael Honigstein's piece on Gladbach and Zakaria is to go by. Honigstein says that most of Europe is watching him very closely. That's very high praise Adnan, if that's the case Zakaria should be a priority. He can shield the defence and can also play at CB and is also very good at breaking forward from midfield hence Honigstein labelling him 3 players in 1. It would be a great signing if we can get him IMO.
If I was to guess I'd say he could be bought for around £45m give or take alittle. How much is Zakaria valued at? and how does he compare against the likes of Soumare?

They're similar players and I'd be happy with either tbh. But I am leaning towards Zakaria slightly due to his ability to play as a CB and he's also a more physically imposing player too in comparison.Seems a similar type player to Partey. I guess the one positive is that he's younger but they are likely to cost the same, as Partey has a low release clause for a player of his quality. I'd be ok with getting either of the two, it doesn't make sense for us to get a Ndidi type when we get so much of the ball usually and we need more dynamic and forward thinking players.
Put it this way. You can have Zakaria or carry on with Lingard-Pereira. Who do you want?Rated highly ?
