Del Piero is a forward. Though I doubt that he is not a "big stage player", and his style may also not suitable for England.

listen, i've seen him a few times and he's never lived upto his billing.. actually, he did when he first replaced baggio, for a season or two........

Does Champions league count as intn'l stage?
Cuz I have the feeling that he is the best Italian scorer in CL... despite being a midfielder and all.
