Gaming Death Stranding

Never finished on PS4 and keep on meaning to, so a fiver seems a worthwhile upgrade...but the file transfer process is just awful.

After 20 hours: Must. Keep. Delivering. Get. S. Ranks. Improve. Connection.:D

Really enjoying this again and it's easily one of my top 5 PS4 games and it looks gorgeous on the PS5. Downside is that it really hasn't offered a ton of new features but I shouldn't expect much for just 5 quid.

Really wish they added a cassette tape to listen to the songs in the game. That's would have been perfect.

The only upgrade I wanted.

My only guess is it would take away some of the magic from moments when there is music and it might also undermine isolation themes of the game. But yeah there really should have a cassette tape upgrade after you've finished the main story.

Finished this again last night and I completely forget how long the ending+ credits go on for.

Still, looking forward for a potential sequel.

Man, i'd love a Death Stranding sequel but i didn't think it was that well received; certainly not a flop by any means but kind of divisive.

Easily one of my favourite games of the PS4 era

That would be awesome. Although it took a while to get going, the first was one of the most immersive experiences I've had with a game in years.
Yeah for me at least it’s the best game I’ve played. The main story overall decent and interesting

I quite liked the the 12 monkeys time travelling and the BB stuff with Mads mikkelsen

But the game really something else with the core gameplay loop of just walking and delivery packages. It was very meditative, reminded me a lot of Andrei Tarkovsky Stalker.

Never played a Kojima game but will try this when it comes on PS+.
Good place to start imo. The Metal Gear stuff is great but there isn’t really a good one to start with(Maybe MGS1 but it’s a PS1 game)

I gotta get back to this and finish the story. Even though I had no idea what was going on

You're right about the meditative stuff. When I first played it I had a kid who was going through the argument phase, another through the puberty phase, another through the "I'm two therefore everything in my path must be destroyed" phase. Playing DT for a couple of hours each night was like medicine.

It always annoyed me when people called it a walking simulator. It didn't do justice to the depth of the gameplay mechanics - like every Kojima game. Folk go on about how self indulgent he is but, at the end of it all, the guy and his team know how to envision and deliver a "fun" game.

Yep. It's pretty much an anti-game at times but excellent how draws the player in, making Sam's laborious journey feel like the player's too.

The story is not the best IMO but it shines due to the themes - loneliness, hopelessness, but ultimately perseverance. Playing it mid-pandemic was *chefs kiss*.

Excellent game.

Bit of a misstep at the final leg but overall really loved Death Stranding.

I'm in the process of trying to platinum it right now. But my god I was hoping kojima was doing something different. Horror or whatever else. Didn't need a second one.

Excited about the potential of a sequel. Not sure where they would go with Sam story wise, but probably not wise to try to second guess what Kojima will do anyway.

I would love another, Kojima is such a master he could take it anywhere and make it work.

Kojima will rustle up some mumbo jumbo hocus pocus with Norman Reed and his funky fetus. I won't have a clue what's going on but it won't stop me building roads for 100 hours.

Couldn't get into it when it first came out but tried again once the directors cut came out and loved it. Ended up being one of my most played games of the year iirc

Was a perfect game to just chill and zone out too for me. Making roads and planning out ziplines was so addictive

Tried getting into it when it come out and I switched it off as soon as that baby started crying after I fell over. Such an annoying mechanic.

Tried again more recently, managed to get to the point where you take the boat to a new place (which is where I heard it gets good) and I just decided I still wasn’t feeling it.

Gave up on this. Found it cool at the start but I did get bored very quickly.

Is Directors Cut worth playing on the PS5? The original was great when I played it on the PS4. It doesn't seem they added much content.

There's a little side mission integrated into the main story and a few little new gimmicks here and there but its not paramount really.
If the DLC is dirt cheap then I would recommend it just for the full experience.

The PS5 experience is better though without the DC. It runs more smoothly, graphically more defined and you don't have to wait for ages for loading times.

Just started this and even though I've barely done any actual playing I'm intrigued.

Terrible news. Excellent music to give great emotional weight and texture to the game.
RIP.

That time of year again(For whatever reason I always think of this as a winter game), so I’ve booted this back up.

Spend an hour holding down the R2 button so I could carry by hand a giant barrel of fuel. Held it all the way through BT areas, climbing up hillside, running with it through the mule camps, downing pints of monster energy, etc. Only to let go of the fecking thing right at the end and watch it slide down a giant cliff.

The guy at the delivery port complained and gave me a b rating. Pretty sure the same person has a order of heart medicine coming up soon but that’s not happening.

Seems like you are playing it the right way!
