Few ManUtd fans are salty because he said something in his interview, so you might not get balanced view.

Imo he is good GK, he did well for us when he played. Made couple of mistakes like his positioning when dealing 1v1 against Salah, for some odd reason it is held against him after years.

Also he played very less for first team, so it's difficult to have proper opinion on him.
@simplyginge this is as reasonable and objective a view as you’ll get on here :)

Us United fans love something to moan about. Henderson’s a cnut ‘cos he wants to play football; Maguire’s a cnut ‘cos he’s happy to sit on the bench

The interview might have been viewed in a more positive light if it had not already been confirmed that alongside LIngard he was the one leaking all sorts of crap from the dressing room to the media during the Ralf Rangnick era. He had well and truly lost all good will by the end of that season and so he was on a hiding to nothing with that interview, of course he still made a knob of himself anyway because that is who he seems to be.
When was it ever 'confirmed'? Rumoured yes, but honestly it felt like the rumours just targeted multiple players who were already unpopular with the fans as they were the ones that were easy targets.

The other thing is the only time we can directly compare DDG and Henderson was when they played in the same season and we were better with Henderson. United fans on this forum get camped into defending or slating players without much objectivity, he is a young keeper who had a huge amount of promise a few years back and then his reputation/progress really stalled. Is he a solid PL keeper? Probably. Is he as great as he thinks he is? Probably not.

Think its early to write him off given his progressed stalled due to being stuck on the bench at United and injury last season.
He'll likely establish himself as a very good PL keeper and push for England.

Its irrelevant though as he's not the type of keeper ETH wants, should have been sold last summer when his stock was a lot higher

Dean is outta here. Forgot about this and assumed it was sorted days ago

Luckhurst butt hurt somewhat that his dressing room leak is on the move.

Should really have sold him two years ago. He had a decent stint at the back end of the 2021 season. We should have made the call then and there as to whether he was going to be the no. 1 or whether we were going to sell him.We didn’t, we backed De Gea while keeping him around, it led to the break down in relationship between the player and the club. £20m is a really good fee though, it’s a very small win for the club to hold out for a good fee with Forest playing around.

One of the best outcomes of the summer! Good riddance

Would have been nice to flog him for a bit more considering City can sell a fecking child with League One experience for as much.

However, we should just be thankful that somebody has been daft enough to take his wages on and pay actual cash money for him of any kind. Won't be surprised for a second if Sam Johnstone benches him.

Personally I think he's pretty poor and it won't look like a good or bad fee. It's just a lowish fee for a low PL keeper.

Haha not sure which is better, £15m plus for Henderson or Luckhurst losing his mole.

I'm not surprised Dean Henderson thinks that, he's always thought of himself as more than his actual worth.

Palace will be in the market for a new keeper next summer.

All his chat, and all these years at United, and I still don't actually know if he's a really decent keeper or not.

World class at rubbing people up the wrong way though.

Pleased he has finally gone but surprised it was to a club that already has Sam Johnstone and, until recently, seemed happy enough with Guaita (also still on their books).

What is this obsession with every club in the top flight having like 3 viable senior keeper options? Surely this is not the best use of funds. Unbelievable scenes that a club like Palace have two of England's rotation on their books to "compete" with each other.

Don't really get why so many hate him. He's a confident keeper who's confident in his abilities, what's the issue with that?

People have let their dislike for him cloud their judgement, he's a very good keeper who I wouldn't be surprised if he joined a top 6 club in a season or two.

He is a competent lower PL keeper at best and the stats from his starts last season back that up. He is not a modern keeper so don't look for him to be sweeping, his kicking is rather poor and he has a tendency to be beaten by shots from long range more often than he should. He graded out in the bottom quartile of starting keepers in the PL last season and that is his level, he will never be anything other than a backup at a top 6 club and this move is as good as he could have hoped for.

People got more annoyed about him saying the club broke promises to him than at the club for actually breaking the promises and some unproven notion he was a leak in the dressing room when there were plenty of suspects for that

Well to be fair the only evidence that the club broke promises is Dean himself claiming they did. If the promise was made, that he would be the starter at the beginning of the 2021/22 season, it was not and could not have been broken because he was out injured until the end of September and so he lost his place. Bad luck yes, broken promises no.

The notion around him being the leak is unproven but is strengthened by the sheer volume of "broken promise" stories that Luckhurst published during that season and has been strengthened today by the frankly bizarre meltdown Luckhurst is having over on Twitter now that the deal has been completed.
