De Gea contract talk | Signs new deal

This is one of the most stupid things I’ve read on here. Doesn’t have the balls to chat shit publicly about “new challenges” while being under contract here? Yeah what a great guy Pogba is compared to De Gea sho stuck through all the mess and never went public.

Who said "Pogba is a great guy because he publicly declared he wants out"? The thing that bothers people with De Gea is he never speaks about what he wants and the contract renewal sagas go forever. Take a look at the time this thread was created. It's nearly 2 years old and it was exactly the same with his former contract. He drags it out as long as possible and people understandably get irritated with that. "stuck through all the mess" my ass.

If it wasn't for a feckin fax machine (+ a new fat contract after that) he'd have been in Madrid for 4 years now. Both Pogba & David can leave tomorrow and I won't care one bit. Stop portraying the situation as if De Gea doing us a favour.

Is it true that we have new goalkeeping coach? What happend to Emiliano?
Still at the club but he's going to be mainly focused on DDG like he used to be, the new coach is a more general one.

Contract negotiations should not be done through the media so Fistikci from redcafe can stop talking absolute shit about things he has no clue.

For all we know he probably told the club what he wants and they haven’t given him that. And yeah as you said if it wasn’t for a tax machine he would have probably been at Madrid with a couple of CL titles under his belt. Instead he stayed and plays for an absolute mess of a club and maybe just maybe it’s not only about the money. Believe it or not top class players want to win stuff as well and De Gea might be on his last chance, we obviously ain’t winning shit for the foreseeable future.

He ain’t doing us a favor he is paid handsomely for playing here, but he has been the most consistent player we have and very professional. Still there are fans like you with a memory shorter than your tongue.

No meaning in continuing this saga. If he is not interested in signing a contract by July then we should tell the world he is for sale for €80m and move on with Henderson and Romero next year. Let us make it serious and clear that next year will be a transition year and make it known for the world that we want to continue with players that want to develop themselves and be proud of playing for United. I am sick of his contract talks every single year.

surely if he is refusing to sign a contract, we should be selling him? i'm somewhat confused as to why this has all gone silent. we could very well lose him for nothing at this rate.

Perhaps we’ve resigned to losing him on a free next season, I suppose we prefer to keep him for another season, and then give Henderson the no.1 once Dave leaves next year.

which makes no sense whatsoever. we'd have been better off just giving him the contract he wants, at least we would retain his transfer value.

I don't see any big club being interested in him. I think he'll accept our offer and stay reluctantly.

May as well just pay him at this point. It would cost a lot to replace him. More than the difference he's seeking in his wages.
What if he is actually on the decline and the performances from the end of last season become a regular occurrence?

De Gea never really provided more than out-of-this-world shot stopping. If that goes, he will be useless for us and another reason the club would be wasting vast amount of money.

It's a gamble in that sense but I'm sure a PSG or a Juve would still be keen in 12-24 months and we could shift him for a decent fee still. Letting the contract run down makes the absolute least sense of any option.

They haven't exactly been beating the door down to sign him. I'd have thought clubs would have been sniffing around like sharks when they heard he was unhappy.

Wait and watch for Juventus to sign him for free next year.

Dunno, szczesny is better than De Gea for me

Improved a lot at Roma and Juve

Donnarumma to Psg probably

The only one club remain Bayern Munchen

Szczesny wasn't even better than De Gea last season, DDG's worst in his entire career let alone better overall

Laughable comment that it truly is

He faces about 1 shot a match  crazy

I am torn on this one. The last few months could definitely be the start of a decline but I don't think that is the case. This points to him being distracted due to the contract situation. The goals he conceded were basic schoolboy errors and not due to him losing his reflexes as people seem to have convinced themselves about.

Having said that, now is the right time to cash in on him if a suitable offer arrives. Despite being one of the greatest shot stoppers I have ever seen, De Gea has very obvious limitations coming off his line, organizing the back line and with distribution and makes me hesitant to pay £300k+ to him. The other option is to let him play out the final year of his contract but that means we lose out about £50m in transfer fees plus De Gea has already demonstrated that he can't be relied upon when his contract situation is not clear.

‘United also still hope to tie goalkeeper David De Gea - out of contract at the end of next season - to a new long-term deal’.

From the Telegraph.

Poorly formatted post
Can anyone remember szczesny at Arsenal? Him and Tottenhams Gomes were The worst Keepers In the League .

Please do not compare David DeGea to any of these sort of players.

Here's hoping, I love that guy. His best is yet to come.
You really think so? I fear it's the opposite.

DDG is almost 29 and I was really hoping he would be an all-rounder by now. Apart from his god-like shot stopping, he has never really developed any other aspect of his game. I'd willfully trade the world class saves he makes every other game with better aerial and box presence, becoming a commanding and organising voice at the back, whilst also improving his distribution as to me it actually seems he is seriously regressing in that department.

Not sure the Spaniard is worth the quoted £350k per week in wages, although I highly appreciate his legacy at the club. However, we are at a place where Manchester United cannot afford to be sentimental anymore. De Gea is not doing well and has lost his first 11 spot at the Spanish national team as well, so we need to keep all of this in mind to decide if we should cash in this summer or not. He's been in shaky form since the World Cup and right now the club needs stable performances more than ever.

This may well be the case of club trying one last push to get him to sign . We as such are in a bad position with reinforcements this year and would desperately want to avoid a goalie replacement if possible.
It looks like he wants to leave but there are no takers at the moment where as on a free there will be certain big clubs that would swoop in next year.

It would be a bold move by the club, but I think that if we cashed in on De Gea this summer, replaced him with a more rounded keeper and spent the windfall on a commanding CB, the defensive unit would end up stronger as a whole.
