France are actually succesful though.
France basically plays the same as Southgate but does so with even better players and Mbappe.

Is it just me or does modern-day football leave sort of a bland taste in the mouth? Especially when two top teams meet. A lot of controlled stuff going on.. each team trying not to make a mistake to the point where the players seem to forget how to play football and just pass around themselves till an opening presents itself. Less and less spontaneity: dribbling, take-ons, threatening long passes with corresponding good accuracy and lots more that made me and many other folks to fall in love with the game.
I know a lot has changed this past few years in the game in terms of tactics but I just don't get the hype anymore. It is like coaching nowadays just harp on fitness and agility and that is it.
I might as well stick to my consoles.
Off topic though.
If they both win their groups, they'll be set to play each other in the QFGermany and Spain the only impressive teams in the tournament so far. Austria were alright earlier I guess.
Yup. They’ve been the only convincing teams. Every other team has been decent at best.Germany and Spain the only impressive teams in the tournament so far. Austria were alright earlier I guess.
But they make it work.France basically plays the same as Southgate but does so with even better players and Mbappe.
I don't know, maybe I'm getting older, but I haven't enjoyed these euros so far.
Did you get far enough into my post to read the second sentence?France are actually succesful though.
Exactly. This isn’t the first time France have made a complete dog’s dinner of a chance this game.fecking shoot the ball. Bunch of fecking cnuts
I wonder if playing lower tempo in the early stages of the tournament is a stretgic decision for some of the big sides (Italy, England, France).
I mean, the first round of games was entertaining. It’s gotten a bit staler this second round. Kind of like the opposite of the last World Cup.I don't know, maybe I'm getting older, but I haven't enjoyed these euros so far.
Feels like we are getting close to needing a new rule designed to disrupt the META.No I’m with you. Everyone plays too safe, every pass is the obvious one and the majority of the ‘better’ teams so far have shown a real lack of imagination. It’s the same patterns over and over again.
It’s not all Pep’s fault but his influence has made football rather boring in areas.
Compare this to how Georgia played the other day and it’s night and day. I just want to see teams going for it.
I don't think so, but I do think France and England are content with settling into the tournament slowly.I wonder if playing lower tempo in the early stages of the tournament is a stretgic decision for some of the big sides (Italy, England, France).

€35m from Rennes to DortmundFriendly reminder that Barcelona once paid over €100 million for Ousmane Dembelé.
Don't think so, France are just annoyingly careful. They aren't interested in risking anything going forward.
META?Feels like we are getting close to needing a new rule designed to disrupt the META.
And really, fecking Wijnaldum?!?!?!
