Day 7: Tunisia vs Australia | Poland vs Saudi Arabia | France vs Denmark | Argentina vs Mexico

Wonder what Argentina will turn up against Poland. There's the potential there for a much better team... but you can tell they were all playing under so much pressure. Chance to play with some confidence in the next game?

They definitely need to start Paredes & Enzo together in midfield and Alvarez in for Lautaro to start with, but will be curious to see.
They still need to beat Poland anyway. If Saudi Arabia beat Mexico and they fail to beat Poland, they are out.

Is he reliant on the belief that the levels Alvarez and Enzo are bringing is exclusive to them coming off the bench? I'd be starting both.

Enzo fernandez is yet another young player that united should have signed before he showed up at a world cup. Now benfica will ask for 100m

Amazing how he changed the game and took the midfield for his side. And that goal to top it off
Benfica will probably ask more than 100. He's class. He has been very good in the Portuguese league but even better in the CL

Not enough have questioned the pain on this page.

Two great goals but it overall a poor team performance. No way they go far

The absolute pain on here just because Zielinski scored vs Arabia is palpable

When Argentina bunker down they will be very tough to score against. Knock outs could be different gravy with this team

Looking at De Paul's reaction at the end even he knows he was utter shite.

On what basis? Saudi scored 2 against them and this Mexico team were toothless.

I will never understand why managers handicap themselves by making these baffling decisions
International managers, with the exception of Enrique, are cowardly conservative.

They always prefer to stick by what they know instead of taking risks.

Overall a rubbish game. Argentina got better after the subs but Fernandez and prob Alvarez, based on what he and Lautaro Martinez have each shown so far, should be starting. Still wouldn't feel too confident about them beating Poland tbh. This is the worst Mexican side I've ever seen. They're truly terrible.

Will Mexico score a goal this tournament? I say no.

What do Mexico need to go through?

Hmm. Unless I have my numbers wrong...
Mexico would need to beat Saudi (not happening based on the first two displays).
Poland would need to beat Argentina (possible).
That would put Argentina, Mexico, and Saudi on three points each. Goal differential then goals scored.

second half was a decent performance, kept the ball, mostly in the mexican half, didn't look like conceding...
but didn't create chances either.

first half was league one level.

Romero, Otamendi and Lisandro with Emi Martinez behind them is very hard to score against. Even Brazil, with all their attacking brilliance, have struggled to score any goals against Argentina for some time now.

I don't know why, but I was really hoping to see Licha and Messi hug. They did. It didn't disappoint.

It's a shame, but probably a fair call. Mexico are usually good value for a bit of entertainment and giving things a go at a World Cup, but my shite Wales side has somehow offered more of that so far.

On watching them for a while. Saudi caught them out early in the 2nd half, when they were under pressure to find the second after the offsides. Against bigger sides they would look to shut up shop

Tomorrow looks like a fun day of football

The absolute pain on @Joel Miller just because he was reading the wrong website is palpable.

Given recent events, Messi goals are probably being celebrated like United goals in most quarters in these parts.

Mental take from the newbie.
