Day 6 | Croatia vs Albania | Germany vs Hungary | Scotland vs Switzerland

Surely it's worth giving him a shot at the WC qualifiers over Clarke though (if he'd take the job)?

Moyes will wait for another prem job. Fulham feels an ideal job for him if Marco Silva leaves in the next year. Could also possibly go back to Everton if the takeover happens and they have money again.

Second half was a bit dull but it makes the Hungary game interesting with both having to go for the win.

So much better. Why were we so fecking negative against Germany?!

Scotland couldn’t find a better manager than Steve Clarke? The guy is out of his depth. This Scotland team has some good players. Robertson, Tierney, mctominay, Gilmour, Mcginn. Adams is a handful too. And he plays a rancid putrid football.

Burnley would be a good job for Moyes to take

No chance he'd go there. He's finally won a trophy and had 6th and 7th place finishes in last few years so that will get him another prem job in next 12 months

Only really concentrated for the last 15 minutes, but Scotland were so predictable. Play it out wide and whip the cross in. It's a very limited way to play

He's got them to 2/3 tournaments and they weren't far off making the World cup either. Some excellent form in the qualifiers aswell.

Before that they were in the wilderness for decades with hardly any serious qualifying attempts apart from Euro 2008.

My Scottish mate nicknames him McSouthgate and there nothing I can really say back to that. The perfect combination of self deprecating and rival banter.

Clarke is just Southgate 2.0 for me. Both decent managers but lack that next step which can push on a side beyond their means.

We're a very limited team

Yeah I get it, but it really would do to play it through the middle more often. It reminded me of Kenny's Liverpool team in 2013 when we'd bought Andy Carroll for a huge fee and needed to use him. Just the same thing over and over again with no variation. It was maddening. At least give them something else to think about.

All this is based on 15 minutes mind you.

So what do "Anyone but England Inc" need to get through?

Germans wont want to finish second so they've got that to their advantage but Hungary are no mugs. What's the deciding factor if Scotland and Switzerland finish on 4?

Would it? Burnley played good football in the championship. Tried playing good football in the Premier League. Just abondon all off that and play Moyes football?

Burnley litterally had Dyche football for about 6 years so I doubt there fans would be put off by the thought of Moyes football.

Before that there weren’t so many players playing in some top teams. Now you have Mcginn playing for villa, mctominay for us, Robertson, Gilmour etc. Not to mention players like Armstrong, Adams, Christie, tierney. A good manager can achieve more than just participating with these group of players. Every tournament they just look hopeless. I believe they can do better than that.

I think he's waiting for the west ham job ...again

Don't hold back mate, let it all out.

Moyes is available, would you prefer him?

Their CBs are championship standard though so only so much you can do with those options (and their defensive record in qualifiers under Clarke is actually good).

Compare that to Swiss with Schar and Akanji and that's a huge gulf in a very important position for international football.

They never produce a decent CF either, Adams doing his best running around but he was just giving needless free kicks away at the end.

Shankland has done really well in recent seasons but we don't play him.

You will go through if you get 4 points . No doubt about it . The 4 best 3rds go through

Yeah at SPL.

I mean produce a forward that a prem club picks up and he scored 10-12.

Fraser Hornby was supposed to be a prospect at your club but wouldn't have a clue who he even plays for now, Ollie Burke anoher who looked exciting but never kicked on and now getting relegated as a bit part player with Birmingham City.

Last one I think was perhaps Kevin Gallagher at Blackburn in the late 90s so a long time ago now.

Agree on the CB’s part. Their midfield is decent though. They could play a more potent football with them especially with Robertson and tierney on the sides.

Kris Boyd scored loads when playing in Scotland but struggled after he moved to England

Yes, he was utterly dreadful for Middlesbrough. Kevin Thompson too looked a world beater and he was crap, mainly due to injuries, but even when he played; awful.

Another prolific scorer in Scotland; Scott McDonald, was poor in the championship too

Main observation today - Sane is a very weak link for Germany. He looks terrible
Which is why he doesn't start. After his health issues it feels a bit like Nagelsmann subs him on to play him into form again.
