Day 5: Switzerland vs Cameroon | Uruguay vs South Korea | Portugal vs Ghana | Brazil vs Serbia

I don't know much about Uruguay's coach but they have no gameplan. They might as well play 5 defenders and 5 forwards, it's all long balls to their forwards hoping their talent will do the difference. It might work though because they are very talented.
We are missing de Arrascaeta linking things up. De la Cruz was the closest option but for some reason we've chosen to hold a Suárez testimonial.

A lot of the teams that you'd think would do well look shite tactically and still relying on old farts to get them through in comparison to teams like Japan, Canada, Korea etc. who are well drilled and tactically set up.
Isn't that international sports in general?

South Korea the better side. Nunez pointless and Suarez looks like he’s been eating well.

I'm listening to Omar Da Fonseca on BeIn, he is going nuts about all the headers

Good lord this Uruguay team are a chore to watch. Pass around the back for a minute or two only to hit it long.

How is Godin still playing in 2022? I swear he experienced both world wars along with Chiellini.

Terrible decision making yet again

I'm watching without sound because I'm working, even though I'm not working at all, but I dont need sound to imagine Omar going nuts about something :D

South Korea are another Canada and Cameroon where there’s some real nice stuff but completely lacking in the last third. Klinsmann said it at half time that the chance they missed simply may not come around again. They can’t create shit. Hopefully they find something.

Good to see Cavani again, such a shame what happened to him - Ronaldo coming and he just decided one promise too many had been broken, I think.

Honestly, Canade played some amazing attacking football, they just lack the finishing product unfortunately. Cameroon was toothless throughout the entire match

This has 1-0 to Uruguay written all over it

Stupid dribbling, put the damm ball in the box decently

He's still only 36. I looked it up and Caceres is only 35.

Both feel like they've been around forever.

Korea seemed to have tired
Paulo Bento coward tactics also appearing. Was the same at Sporting and Portugal always with the same dreadful results

This World Cup is so underwhelming compared to the last one. Russia 2018 had so many late goals and comebacks.

Lee is off Lee is on. Good change

Pellistri isn't very good
He looks petrified re conceding possession. In fairness, he has applied himself tactically in a very disciplined way. He is certainly not the one I expect far more urgency and output from.

He seems to have a task to cover for Son's runs also, which keeps him tactically more conserved.

Another borefest, has there even been a shot on target?

It's been less shit than some of the other shit.

At least it has felt like something could happen, unlike that Poland/Mexico game.
