Ozil has started exceptionally well. Shutting up his haters, best #10 in the World.
 
Crap defending from Portugal. Shame because they had Germany coming apart at the seams.
 
That was weird. It was like he got stuck in the pitch. Seemed like an easy tackle on Gotze.
 
I thought it was a pen, but not a red. To be honest, I hate to see reds given for clumsy tussles like that to be honest. They were both trying to go for the ball, but neither of them could really get control of it.

It's got nothing to do with how mean it would be, it's all about applying the rules as they are written.

Except an actual goal, you won't find a clearer chance of scoring.

Professional foul... pulled him back when he was in on goal. Have more sympathy for a fella genuinely attempting to tackle and ar$ing it up, but no, he just pulled him down.
 
I think it's a soft pen BUT it is a pen.
And if it is a pen it's a red because he was clearly the last defender there.


That said I'm glad the ref only gave a yellow. Better for this game and for both teams.
 
Paulo Bento and his stupid stubborn self...our midfield is getting completely run over, same crap as Sweden game

That one wasn't a clumsy tussle though, Goetze had a clear goal scoring opportunity and he was pulled back.

To me the penalty is enough punishment along with a yellow card.
 
As The Guardian says... one thing the World Cup is great for is that every tournament we get to find out what Hugo Almeida has been up to for the past 4 years...

Agreed. The idea that because a because a pk was given that the foul which denied a clear goal scoring opportunity is daft in the extreme. The only question is whether it was a clear goal scoring opportunity. Reasonable minds can differ on that with the two other defenders to cope with.

Its like watching United of last year. Overrun in midfield, hoping our attacking talent will bail us out...
