Day 20: Brazil vs. Colombia

I think this game will end up in a high scoring draw. And Brazil to win in penalties again.

This game will be interesting tactically.

Key for Colombia is to get Ibarbo vs Alves and Cuadrado vs Marcelo one on one where they can create or alternatively make space for James Rodriguez and Martinez centrally.

As for Brazil they need Neymar, Hulk and Oscar to turn up creatively.

Expecting the midfield battle to be pretty close otherwise. Brazil have the better defenders centrally but then Colombia seem pretty well drilled as a team.

Predicting a narrow win for Colombia here.

Calos Velasco Carballo the Spanish referee who is not that great and has been poor this WC has been appointed to this game, btw and could result in sort of a controversial decision somewhere in such a high intensity game.

So a dodgy penalty to Brazil and a harsh sending off for Colombia then?

You got it spot on, the wingers are key and also the full backs overlapping, they need to find different ways as the Brazil midfield 3 will just try to deny him any space. If one wing isn't working then they need to switch to the other constantly. Ibarbo can blitz Alves and hopefully he has am end product to go with it (unlikely).
Interesting to see if Col opt to sit deep and play on the counter to shield slow Yepes..

I hope that neither fred or jo starts the game for brazil.

Can someone explain to me why Brazil get so much hate on here but everyone wanks over Argentina?

Going for a scrappy, probably undeserved 1-0 or 2-1 win to Brazil.

am i the only one that doesn't think hamez is that good?

i mean he is decent but people are going way overboard.

what am i missing about hamez?

5 goals in 4 games at the biggest stage of all is what the fuss is.

His 5 goals and 3 assists? Or just his all round technique, intelligence and inventiveness?

Yes, the hype has gone overboard.

He's very classy and talented, of the classic 10 ilk. But he lacks physicality and athleticism; he's a bit soft, doesnt have significant pace, and not really strong 1 on 1.

Bit of a luxury player who needs to be shielded. He's fantastic and a joy to watch though.

I still believe James is having a bit of a fluke tournament. He's never displayed this level of prolificacy in either his club or international career before. He'll fall back down to earth like Sneijder did.

He is having a great tournament, but many players have done so in the past. I think he has got great potential but people go way overboard as usual. BTW I read somewhere that he is named after James Bond. Is his name really pronounced as Hamez then?

He's shining in the best team in the tournament so far. It's probably the quality of his goals which are separating him from Cuadrado right now, who I think has been very good for Colombia.

Deserves the recognition for now. Inconsistent he may be at Club level, but he's still a kid.

So Brazil are planning to win the World Cup with Fred and Maicon in their team. This is actually a bit insulting.

Think there is a reason Monaco splashed out 45 million for him though, they knew he had talent and has the potential to be one of the best. Dont think it's a fluke tbh because the kid has the talent.

Fifa won't allow Brazil to lose. The riots would be uncontrollable. Saying that, I hope the quality of the match is better than today's other "spectacle".

First, its kind of ignorant to think that Brazilians would riot uncontrollably because of football.

Second, why did Fifa "allow" chile to beat us? If hulk goal is allowed or penalty given no one says anything
First, very idiotic to think

Brazil winning is what is best for business.

The goalscoring (which is mainly why he's receiving so much hype) is definitely a fluke in my opinion. I've seen nothing in his all round game to suggest he's better or will be than the likes of Cazorla, Isco, Mata etc so far.

Watching the matches on the Spanish channel. The Hype around Rodriguez is getting to be a bit ridiculous, to the point where if he doesn't score and Columbia don't advance, it will seem like a disappointment.

I dunno, they obviously value the link-up play that he brings. Martinez is a better goalscorer, no doubt.
Ramos brings both and is in my opinion the best option. Not many people seem to agree with me though. Certainly not Pekerman, by the looks of it.

That Brazil side is packed with distinctly average players compared to their historic sides.

Colombian and Brazilian babes together in one stadium

And yeah, hope for a good match too
