Day 2: Wales vs Switzerland | Denmark vs Finland | Belgium vs Russia

Such a weird situation. Feel for Finland a tiny bit here from a competitive POV as anything other than a Denmark win would feel wrong now.

Not the full truth that. The BBC could easily have pulled the broadcast. I understand that the panel in the studio might not have been composed enough to go straight to them, but there's other ways it could have been handled rather than just letting those images get broadcast.
They probably have to arrange things in the background. You can't have a blank screen for x-number of minutes.

Why do people always assume the worst? I can see why players would want to finish the game if they know Eriksen is well and stable.

Amazing that they're continuing the game.
All the horror / gravity of situation stuff aside, they've been sat cold for best part of 2hours.

Best result was always Eriksen was fine and they could get the game played though - just thought it'd be tomorrow at best.

Odd to still stick to playing the last 4mins, then have 5mins break though. Surely they could just have a 49min half!

The Danish FA had someone trained in CPR. They saved his life. Perhaps the right people weren’t brought in at the right time but describing that as piss poor is clearly misguided.

It was piss poor that the Danish team staff didn't recognise he needed CPR and we had to wait for the medics to finally get over from the opposite side of the pitch to get things going.

Simply not good enough in my opinion. This is the highest level of the game.

I really, really hope Danmark score the first and only goal in this game. The country needs that moment.

And how do you know that he didn't have a pulse when the team staff got to him? Stop with the guessing.

You have literally no idea what the players are thinking. It was at the player's request to play the game. Stop being a moron.

I'm not being a moron. Feck off for even saying that.

And the players could be thinking whatever they want, i'm not even going on about what they feel or what they want.

The simple fact is that they are in a state of shock. And as such, they should not be allowed by UEFA to play anything.

They should all have been taken to councling and ptsd protocol should have been performed.

You're telling me about the mental state of people you don't know. That is moronic.

Sorry but this is wrong. For example the Superbowl - they have to do this every single time there is a commercial and none of it is fixed timing. So it really is simple.

Even if he's lucid & talking and sent a message saying something like "I'll be fine lads, you crack on", it's still being to be difficult for both sets of players to be focused and unemotional.
Yeah, I have no idea how any of the 22 can focus on football.

American sport and tv work differently than football. American sport is almost a 'filler' for tv advertising

This thread doesn't half show the best and worst of human behaviour doesn't it.

Some great sentiments, communal spirit, and some halfwits insisting on arguing pointlessly.

Don't like to see anybody banned, but in his case there is a case, at the very least he should be banned from the EURO 2020 pages.
While I was and am troubled by his posts I don't think he broke any rules. His posts were callouses and heartless but not against the CAF's rules.

A German media outlet has reported this:

If that is indeed the case, then I can see why the players would want to continue.

I'm amazed at how much the restarted match resembles a normal football match. I just feel like you'd be obvious moments of despair in players' body language or something.

Fair play to them for getting back out there. Hoping its true that it was directly at the request of Eriksen.

Cant believe this has resumed. I would be too distracted if I was a Denmark player I would never be able to concentrate on the game.

Fair fecks to all of them from both teams for going out and playing.

The idea of the authorities having a duty of care for the mental health of the players can't possibly be considered moronic.

They've gone through a traumatic event, i doubt they're thinking that clear. Half the pundits are struggling never mind playing after being stood next to your mate thinking he's dying.

Fair play if they think they can carry on, shouldn't be their decision in my view.
