Day 17: Morocco vs Spain | Portugal vs Switzerland (Last 16 7&8)

Just the 8 midfielders today, then.

Well it's actually more similar to the status of Gibraltar as British soil in Spain

Has been mentioned in another thread that Spain and Morocco had discussed a joint bid for 2030 World Cup but didn't go forward due to all that political wrangling
No, it's the same as NI. Mainland soil stolen. Gibraltar is an island nowhere close to Britain. It could be it's own, Moroccan or Spanish. The canaries should definitely be Moroccan geographically. But Ceuta and Melilla is something else entirely. That's Moroccan mainland separated by weapons and fences.

Have a look at a map - Gibraltar is not an island, it's mainland Spain. In fact British hold over Gibraltar is probably one of the reasons the Spanish cling on to Ceuta

But anyway let's focus on the football - fingers crossed for Maroc !

Spain's attacking options are pathetic compared to their midfield. Why haven't they been able to produce a single world class striker since Torres and Villa?

Spain favourites but I expect them to have a difficult match, unless Morocco completely collapses out of nowhere.

Diego Costa. Not exactly a Spanish though

It would be a tragedy if this Spain side won the World Cup. This is not football. Give me route one/long ball football all day over this.

The crowd will have to do a lot of whistling against possession FC. Someone give em some Vuvuzelas.

Hoping for a Spain win. Don't want an easy game for Portugal

I hope I'm wrong but I think this will be a very boring match. I just can't find Spain matches entertaining (bar the occasional Costa Rica)

Spain play very good football.

Gavi, Pedri, Olmo? Seriously?

I liked 2009 to 2012 Barca, but I've never been a fan of Spain in regard to their possession. It's just so slow, never really incisive either. Some call it good football because its technical, but I really don't think it is. It's quite defensive imo. Man City play good possession football. Possession without consistent incision and threats isn't very interesting.

For that we have to pass Switzerland and I'm not sure we do it. Specially with the Ronaldo vs Santos issue from last days. Ronaldo fecked us with the perpetual circus around him.

I think you'll have too much quality for them. I rate your squad

Good players. I don't consider passing the ball between your defenders 800 times as good football, however.

This notion gets overused incorrectly. Like Liverpool and the back pass rule or Nunez being a useless donkey. People who actually watch and understand football think differently. :p

For the moment Spain are making Eredivisie and Ligue 1 look good.

Nothing new with that.

That's a weird take. So any possession football is good football and if you don't think so, you don't know football?

What happened?

The term 'good' is pretty subjective. The problem is that their CBs aren't solid enough and they don't have attackers of real quality. Morata and Torres form 2/3rds of it and neither are very good.

Who's the commentator on ITV, he's terrible

Well the circus with United doesn't mean anything to us. Having a go at manager (that I DETEST) days before we face a crucial elimination match is extremely stupid. Made me side with Santos (feel dirty admitting that).

So in summary - they don't play "very good football".

What is Portugese media and public opinion about interview and all that what followed. And his performances for us and you?
There, little something to do, so you can stop being nervous before the game, at least for few minutes.

Good lord Spain are so boring, feck them and their anti-football. If everyone played like this all games would end in 0-0 draws. Play with some passion and intent. Come on Morocco, feck them up and do us all a favor.
