Alaba - Everybody knows him. Bayern love him and want to keep him. Very good professional and very (!) versatile player. Pep called him super super super. (Well, he called everything super super super but I think he was honest when talking about Alaba.) And it's no secret that Real and Barca want to sign him.

According to AS, Real is offering 80 mio Euro this summer (and offering him a spot in central midfield since Alaba would prefer to play there while he has to play nearly everywhere such as LB, CB in Munich.)

Any thoughts? For example by the Bayern fans? Should the club let him go fo 80 mio?

He is a fantastic talent but 80 million is a huge sum. However seeing that the likes of Stones is going for nearly 50 million pounds, Bayern should take Madrid to the cleaners.

80mil euros won't be anywhere near enough unless Alaba wants to force the move for some reason.

80 mil is not a matter of joke for any club. Alaba, as good as he is, is not really someone who will win you matches individually.

In this market it kind of is. Bayern isn't short on money, and they'll be strengthening a direct contender for the UCL.

It's more about who can they get in to give them the same value he does, rather than money in the bank.

Just signed a new contract and AS is a shite source.

Bayern are paying a maximum €80m for Sanches. No fecking way they accept at for Alaba.

He signed a contract till 2021, as far as I know, that's true. And I think that Alaba is a loyal type of player, so he feels well in Munich and wants to stay. However, his father and agent, who hardly say anything usually, were cryptic in the last weeks. ("Real? We are honoured and we don't want to say more about that.")

My feeling: Alaba will stay. But Madrid is doing a (good) job there that Alaba will maybe sign for them in future by trying it again and again and again.

Yeah, classic Madrid move. Next we will have Zidane praising him repeatedly the next season or two.

And replace who? The last guy they bought from Bayern to play there?

Those Alaba to Real rumours by AS are just ridiculous. They startet with around 50mio € (or something like that) after alaba just signed a 5 year contract and hinted bayern would sell him for 70 or 80 mio €. As if real would call bayern and make that silly offer and bayern would response in a way like that. Bayern doesnt sell players they want to keep and espcially not if they are on multiple year contracts. Journalists just think they have to present crazy rumours every day so they can get clicks on their news feed, just annoying. Like for example almost every bayern player was linked to city from time to time this summer just because of the obvious pep link....

I enjoy this. Truly a battle between two very unlikeable entities.

Is Alaba really that good as a CM as I've only seen him play there for Austria and he wasn't particularly impressive. Has he played there for Bayern much?

Who would he replace in their midfield though? Modric-Kroos is an ideal combination.

bayern isn't going to let one of their key players go that easily without trying to thoroughly fleece the buying the club.

Not sure about Alaba in Madrid's midfield. Would he be happy to play in Casemiro's restricted role? Or are they offloading Modric already?
Plus I can't say that he completely blew my mind when I saw him centrally.

Didn't Bayern reject our mega offer for Muller. They have also rejected many approaches in the past for many of their players like Ribery. Even getting Hargreaves, who wasn't one of their key players, was a pain in the arse. Bayern have always been able to hold on to their players and it would be task and a half to lure away their prized possessions.

No chance of Bayern letting him go. When it comes to their key players, Lahm, Neuer, Muller and Alaba, don't think they'd sell for anything. Obviously rejected 100m euros+ from us for Muller.

In b4 Real throw some money at City for Yaya in desperation at the end of the window.

There are 0 reasons to let him go, even if they offer 80+ mil. What would we do with the extra money that we couldn't do right now?
Who would we get as his replacement? You can count the number of LBs on Alaba's level on a bad lumberjack's hand, so getting someone of equal caliber is next to impossible. Add to that the fact that he can also be used as a CB, CM or LW and you got a player you just have to keep no matter the cost. It's also easy to forget that the guy's only 24 (!) and has his best years ahead of him.

So no, the club shouldn't and won't sell.

@The Taurean
Much like Martial, Sanches was bought with some additional clauses (more money for a certain number of games played, Ballon d'Or etc.).

I agree, but they have a great squad. What's there to improve?

If they play with 3 in the middle then probably you can indeed find an improvement for Casemiro, if he's their regular. If he's not, I have no idea.

It's not even about improving to be fair, it's about them buying fancy toys at will. They can't do it anymore. Not with DDG, not with Pogba. It's not like James was an improvement on Isco yet they bought him.

That really isn't always the point. I remember Fergie, mentioning many times, the importance of transfers upon completing a successful season to freshen things up and create healthy competition.

Makes no sense to let one of the best young players in the world let go for pennies which 80mil is. Bayern is no Juventus, they dont need money and the player I am sure is happy there..

Yep, it's most likely about Casemiro. And I disagree with the second part, Real can improve a great deal by replacing Casemiro with a top class player, especially (but not only) in possession. And they can at least theoretically improve even more in terms of tactics and teamplay, where they lag behind Barca and Atlético in my opinion, but I don't expect a lot in that department for this season. I hope Zidane proves me wrong, though.

But they can't get Alaba, that's for sure.

Madrid could put a 1 in front the sum and Bayern would still not pick up the phone. There is literally no better player Bayern could get for the roles Alaba fullfils for them.

I partied with him for about all of 5 minutes in Vegas last month. Seemed cool, probably flattered I recognised him. I thought I may be able to get some left over vaChina if I could make it look like we were friends for long enough.
