Darwin Núñez / signs for Liverpool

Really hope this guy flopps for Liverpool. Can’t see him having the same impact as mane does though. Saying that they do create a lot of chances and Nunez will more then likely put them away.
These types of things have to happen, and I do think it was definitely the end of the cycle for that front 3, but a Mane — Firmino — Salah seems a lot stronger on paper than a potential Diaz — Nunez — Salah combo will be. I guess it’s up to the first two to show up under Klopp to replicate the type of form their predecessors had

Football isn’t as simple as that. Whatever we say about Liverpool, Mane, Salah and Frimino were not just class players, they were mentally tough. They all played as a team and did so much work off the ball. To play week in week out, never getting injured , scoring so many goals and most importantly living up to the expectation of playing for a big club is not something that can easily be replaced.

Nunez, Diaz and Jota may all look great on paper, but they will never ever repeat the consistency of a peak Mane, Salah and Frimino. (Btw Having Salah at the club running down his final year is not healthy for the Club or player).

Reread my post - that’s what I just said?

It appears we can't multitask, we've put nunez on the back burner till we sort out de jong. Meanwhile the dippers swoop in and make it happen making us look like right mugs for saying we never wanted him.

If ronaldo can't smash it every game or worse gets injured then who the feck is going to score goals ? Don't tell me martial or rashford, both of them deserve to kicked out on their arse.

We're done and we've hung another manager out to dry.

What makes you think the dippers haven't scouted him for ages? A lot planning goes into a 100mm pound signing, people don't just 'swoop in'

He's just not what we need. Not for that price, nor for that position. If our recruitment is prioritizing 3-4 other smart signings in other areas, then it's ok

It is quite curious they often sign players they play against immediately after, see Diaz and now Nunez. Maybe they scouted them before as well, but playing against them and them performing seems to make the final decision to go for signing them.

Great video again. I seen quite a few of them that you've done. Very insightful. Keep up the man.
In your opinion, why do you think Antony's goal and assist stats last season are somewhat mediocre if he's the player you think he is?

Yep - here's Melissa Reddy (sort of Klopp/LFC mouthpiece) talking in April about Liverpool already locking into Darwin Nunez "he's been looked at for a long time" -

Goes to show how detached from reality this premise that "other clubs just swoop in as a result of United's inability to multitask" really is

Very disappointed on this one but understanble we can't spend so big with other areas.

Bit concerned as the striker market is so small. And our previous option of Greenwood being our future is rightly in the toilet.

Not sure where that leaves us going forward.

Liverpool's attack is literally insane.

Salah Firmino Diaz Jota Nunez and Elliott. That has literally everything in it. Hard not to be very jealous. Would help if we where better in other areas but they also got a vastly superior Midfield and defence.

Prioritising a centre back over a centre forward. We fecking need both !

In my book Id order our priority as
1: CM to replace Pogba
2: DM
3:Attacker (Ideally a Striker if not a RW)
4: RB
5:CB

At the very least to not be complete shit next season we will need the two centre Mids and the attacker but don't get me wrong a RB and CB is still vital. We need them all.

Don't forget Carvalho they picked up from Fulham for just £8m!

Uniteds recruitment has been dire for a very long time, it genuinely feels like we only work on deals during the transfer period, completely neglecting the fact you need to be talking to these players for months/years to get them to want to play for you.

Do you make these yourself? Great job if you do, keep it up!

I specifically appreciate how on to point it is , but you might wanna add some clickbaity stuff If you want to grow, great quality nonetheless.

In reality, that's 6 players for 3 forward positions, pretty standard.
For our 3 positions, we have Ronaldo, Rashford, Sancho, Elanga and Martial. If we sell or loan Martial, we'll need to sign 2 players. If we keep him, we will only sign one. Probably, a forward that can play on the right hand side.

The other glaring issue is quality. Big difference in quality between ours and theirs. Therefore any player that comes in, needs to go some way towards closing that gap. If Ousmane Dembele didn't have so many question marks, he would have been my pick. I suspect we'll end up with Antony as ETH already knows him.
It'll be good if we can upgrade Elanga as well. Personally question whether he has the right quality.

I think Ole already realized that United's scouting tended to bring up more expensive players or targets who are too inexperienced. That probably explains the focus on signing youth players and grow them in the academy, so that we have multiple options to boost the squad. I strongly feel that the academy will be our biggest weapon next season, the crop of talent are quite promising. The type of tactics that ETH is going to play is also key, as our attack is strong enough to play a variety of formations.

As for us going for Nunez, I feel that the club did not have a strong interest. Unlike the way we are chasing De Jong, there were only mere glances at Nunez while Liverpool went in strong for him. I am afraid Nunez will be a hit at LFC, because Klopp has been looking for players with better finishing and positioning capabilities to make use of the pin point passes coming in from Trent, Thiago, Henderson, Keita etc. It has been their weakness last season and coupled with Nunez's workrate and strength, it will be a boon against tougher and strength relying defenders.

Cheers mate - appreciate the kind words.

@Frank White Arjen Robben didn't break past 10 goals a season until he joined Bayern (bar one season in Eredivisie). Similarly Salah didn't break past 10 goal mark until he was 24 - Antony is ahead of the curve compared to most great wingers in terms of his development. That is not to say Antony is going to be better than Robben but young wingers, especially one who contributes so much in the build up phase like Antony does are not going to be breaking league records for goals/assists.

For me it is his performance for Brazil that caught my eye - he didn't seem overwhelmed by the occasion - so I think he has the mentality to thrive at a big club and enjoy that stage.

He looks like a killer in the right situations, but also a bit like Pookaku when it comes to first touch... If we got him at a lower price I would think it's worth a chance, but spending the amount mentioned I'm glad we're out (we're we in to begin with?). I fail to see how he'll fit in at Liverpool and the way they play, but Klopp is undoubtedly a great coach and seems to have a plan for him... I truly hope he'll flop and that he becomes the next Andy Carroll

This is like paying 100m for Calvert-Lewin at the beginning of last season.

Of course there was interest and we were talking to his agent as we will be for numerous player - but there’s no way we wanted him for the price he’s going for - we have far too much to do this summer to spend 80m on a player who only plays where Ronaldo does.

Again it's the framing as if it's our decision, the lad seems to have chosen Liverpool. They're the much better option so it's going to happen no shame in it.

We have to be smart, quickly move on and pick up the best of those not going to the current top clubs. Sometimes we'll get the better player for less anyway.

He's a finisher, not one of those who will link play for you. If you give him service he will finish which is why Klopp wants him. The Liverpool team give their forwards plenty of service through their fullbacks. They just need someone who can finish off those crosses.

He's just not what we need. Not for that price, nor for that position. If our recruitment is prioritizing 3-4 other smart signings in other areas, then it's ok
Agreed. We have all said on here that our midfield needs sorting out for years. Finally we might get a replacement of sorts for carrick. Some who can control our tempo. 1 signing doesnt fix the midfield but its a step in the right direction.

Not sold on Nunez personally reminds me of the summer when our choices were lukaku and Morata. It was slim pickings. We stole lukaku from chelsea. But he was never the long term answer. Nunez to me seems like that. Liverpool can have him.

My idea of an Ideal united center forward is Benzema, Lewandoski, Haaland level.
But if we can't get someone of that level make sure his weakness are down to finishing and not things like general link up play. I'll prefer a younger Benzema type over a Lukaku type all day.
This is why I'm skeptical about this guy.

€6m net a season is £190k a week gross. Serious investment from Liverpool into this guy who will go straight in at a higher pay than most of their squad.

I'd hate if it didn't work out and upset their harmony.

Just wait and see how Liverpool journalists will report that he is on 75K per week and caf will lose their shit.

And as usual, in annual FY report, their wage bill will be 2nd or 3rd highest.

I don’t think Mendes would want Nunez to come to United and put his most valuable client on the bench

The reality of it is yes he was a player on our list, yes we’d have been interested in him for the reported 60m euros by ornstein 2 weeks ago - but there’s no chance we have any interest at that price. They haven’t beaten us to him if we were never prepared to pay the fee. I also agree for Nunez Liverpool makes more sense - more likely to start up top and stylistically suits klopp perfectly.

Agree with this. Our defence looked a lot worse this season because of the lack of protection from midfield. Clearly we can improve the CB pairing but we need two midfielders first. I hope we go after Raphina for RW.

Ok, last I read was page 40 something less than a week ago and this is now on 71. What the feck happened?

Good Video. Subscribed. Will watch the other ones. Think you'd get more subscribers if you could do analysis on Utd targets or those we have been heavily linked with i.e. Neves.

Great video. Can't take credit for it though, it's @Raees. Getting FoMo for Nunez after watching it even if blowing our whole budget on one player makes absolutely no sense.

I agree, he looks like he belongs in that Brazilian team, bags of potential. Will most likely be an absolute star once he refines his game. Still seems a bit raw compared to Rafinha, the latter is PL proven. I'm now subscribed to channel look forward to seeing more videos from you on our targets.

Why did Carvalho go there though? Could have played every game for Fulham this year but instead he might barely get a sniff. Particularly if Mane doesn't get his move.

Diaz Nunez Salah
Mane Firmino Jota
Carvalho --- Elliott

We were up against a team who has regularly reached the champions league over the last 3-4 seasons and been challenging or winning the league, compared to Utd. Its a no brainer for a player who has no affinity to us as well. We just need to look elsewhere. We need to build from a low position so if we say Nunez is a 10/10 for this purpose, we will be better with an 8/10 striker as apart from Ronaldo our best are 5/10. Once we start finishing regularly in the top 4, then we will attract the best. De Jong would have already been here imo, if we had have been in the Champions League next season.

Given the quoted transfer fees. Nunez was never realistic for early transfer business because we would have blown more than half of our budget. Either we won't sign him since we won't have enough money left (if ten hag actually wants him) or we sign him in a late window after we sell enough players.
