How can Chelsea be involved?
I bet he can't wait to join their two banks of five and have zero shots on target the whole game -- every striker's dream.I read he's Athletico bound
Is it just me or does it look like a prem keeper would save all those? That last one was a really odd decision making from the keeper.
Jackson Martínez and Morata tooIf Atletico wants him, we should be going all out and getting him ourselves. Atletico are brilliant at buying strikers. Forlan, Falcao, Greizmann, Costa etc. I’m sure i have missed out a couple too
Aguero.Jackson Martínez and Morata too
You think we won’t be signing any players? Ownership will be sorted long before the summer window opens. How can Chelsea be involved?
If we get him, I'm hoping he's more Diego Costa than Lukaku. Costa always looked technically off but it somehow worked, he was impossible to tackle with his back to goal, rolled people and his shots always seemed to find the corners by hook or by crook.
Nunez does seem to have some of that but hard to judge. His slightly loose touch my have him found out at a higher level.
I don’t think you’re in an auction for a 70m player while suffering sanctions, no. What can you even tell the player about your future plans? How can anyone know what direction your club is going? Will the new owners even spend 70m on a player? You think we won’t be signing any players? Ownership will be sorted long before the summer window opens.
I think it’s more the fact that you have one player who looks amazing as a striker and another who cost you 100m on the bench, I’d imagine it’s the last position you need a big money signing in.You think we won’t be signing any players? Ownership will be sorted long before the summer window opens.
Benfica can feck off, 70 million for a player with average technique. We really need to flex our scouting abilities and find some bargains because these types of signings aren't sustainable for non-oil clubs.
Uh, what? The club itself isn’t under sanction, Abramovich is. As soon as we have a new ownership in place we’re back to “normal.” We almost certainly won’t be shopping in the very highest bracket anymore (or at least not as often) but this summer will be business as usual in terms of signing players I think. A brand new owner will want to make a splash and show the supporters their ambition.I don’t think you’re in an auction for a 70m player while suffering sanctions, no. It’s ludicrous
Yeah, I’m not saying we’ll try for this guy. Just that we WILL be making signings.I think it’s more the fact that you have one player who looks amazing as a striker and another who cost you 100m on the bench, I’d imagine it’s the last position you need a big money signing in.
It’s April! Nobody has a clue what your spending will look like and time is running out since the end of the season is 6 odd weeks away.Uh, what? The club itself isn’t under sanction, Abramovich is. I’m not talking about entering negotiations right now. I’m talking about us signing players this summer. Which we will do.It’s April! Nobody has a clue what your spending will look like and time is running out since the end of the season is 6 odd weeks away.
And Chelsea are under sanctions because your owner is under sanctions. You can’t even replace your jerseys without permission never mind enter negotiations for a 70m pound player
Only 8 weeks and 4 days till the Muppet season begins. You think we won’t be signing any players? Ownership will be sorted long before the summer window opens.
We’ll likely have an opener in place within a month. And it’s not like the opens and closes within the span of a week. We have months to work on deals even if the ownership situations drags on.Only 8 weeks and 4 days till the Muppet season begins.
It's not certain at all.
But you have no idea about budgets etc. you can’t even sign someone like Rudiger to a contract. You’re burning up your cash reserves as you are laying in limbo.I’m not talking about entering negotiations right now. I’m talking about us signing players this summer. Which we will do.
And even despite sanctions right now you’re foolish if you think agents and intermediaries aren’t talking with Chelsea currently behind the scenes. We’re one of the best operators in the market. It’s impossible to think those who run the club are just sitting on their hands right now in some sort of paralysis.
So yes, you’re right, we probably aren’t going to spend 70m on this guy. But to think we aren’t sniffing around and talking to potential targets because of sanctions is wrong.
To add to this: Benfica bought him from Almeria for 20m euros in the first place, who hold a rumoured 20% sell-on clause.Well players, particularly strikers, are not priced on their first touch. And why on Earth would a club want to sell a 22 year old 30 goal striker for less than 70m euros anyway?
So, Chavs want to drop a fortune on another striker?
£100M on Lukaku, didn't work out, bin him, try another. Didn't Lampard spunk a fortune on a striker who didn't work out either?
Chelsea get such a free ride, when, actually, they're little better than City.

This guy is going to flop big time.
Keep in mind guys like Jackson Martínez and Slimani were much better in Portugal then Darwin has been.
Could be some of my Benfica hate giving In but I don’t think he will be top striker in the game. Midtable EPL seems about right.
I'm getting sick of these fees. 70 million for Antony. 70 million for Nunez. 80 million for Tchouameni. These players have just started and already costing an arm and a leg? Who even knows if they will come good when playing at the very top? Big money and a lot of risk. I wanted us to go in for him, but at around 40-50M. We should have gone in for Alvarez.

There’s no way to prove this either way but if it was important to get Ten Hag in for us so we don’t get left behind in chasing transfer targets then God knows how that doesn’t come into play when it’s actual owners involved. You literally can’t make any promises to a player. It really seems like wishful thinking.
