Darts

Excellent from Dobey, massive disappointment from Smith though. Has to be MVG or Humphries for the win you feel.

Hopefully yesterday was just a one-off for Humphries and he gets back to his usual self tomorrow.

Ando also looked very composed just now, albeit against inferior competition of course. But yeah, MVG looks locked in this tournament so far.

Yeah the fact he hasn't won it for 5 years is really driving him on to beat whoever he faces

Gary Andersons post match interview with the press was something else. Really put the boot into the media as regards Luke Littler. Saying how you've no idea how they hyped Josh Rock up so much that it's going to set him back 2-3years.That they don't know darts the amount of young players that have come through the ranks in the last ten years and where are they now.
As regards Littler he said was with him yesterday and between zoom calls, photos interviews this that and the other just let the boy play darts because if it does go tits up then they're to blame.

Good on him. Littler's been brilliant, but he was even on the front page of Telegraph's site, like they ever gave a shit about darts.
The expectation has been mental. Even MVG struggled with it years back and it's taken Smith, Humphries, Dobie, Asp etc years to win majors.
Hopefully Rock and Littler don't fade like Kirk Shepherd.

Getting down to business now, some tasty looking match-ups today.

Cross way too good for Clayton. The QF against Dobey should be a cracker.

Brendan does it again!

No nerves from Littler in the opening set.

Sad Ando's out though. Dunno how long he can be arsed to continue.

You can really tell he's spent most of his youth in the pub.

I mean he looks 40 and has the body of a 40 year old regular.

Blimey this is unreal. Not trying to pick on the kid more a suggestion but if he physically looks after himself from here on in he could achieve crazy things. Hope someone close gives him some advice in that regard he's so young but it's worth thinking about long term.

Really expected the occasion to get to him and see him freeze, especially with all the media attention that’s on him. He looks totally unaffected by any of it, if anything it’s Barney that looks shell shocked. He’s getting blown away.

Littler smashing the doubles leaving barney feeding off scraps

You'd think his best chance is to drag him into the weeds and see how he copes with a long match but he's not even getting a chance at this point. He's at risk of a whitewash here

I remember watching Barney win that final in 2007, Littler wasn’t even born
