I didn't say any of those things, yet more strawmanning. The laughing smilie is for children too, try being an adult for this discussion.

My point is this - Greenwood, Pogba, and Rashford were all exhausted by the end of the season. That isn't "easily disproven", it's by theirs and the manager's admission. You forget the lack of a break between the previous season, lack of pre season etc by just focusing on minutes. You don't agree with me (or them/Ole) on that, OK fine, but that's why I think we need to add depth, not maintain it.

You might as well be saying those things:
  • You say Pogba and Greenwood were overplayed - I point out they sat on the bench plenty and played a very normal 3000mins
  • You say we didn't have a quality option on the bench last year - I point out Greenwood/Pogba/James (the latter of which you can replace with Sancho for this season) sat on the bench literally every game
  • You say we need to keep Dan James for quality depth to prevent us from playing an injured Rashford ("overplayed" as you call it) - I point out James' presence didn't stop us from playing a limping Rashford last season
You've never admitted you were wrong on any of these things, so I'm concluding you still believe them, which just makes me laugh

You'll ignore you and I said any of these things and go on about how you're being straw manned/ridiculed, "let's agree to disagree", etc.

How can I admit I'm wrong on something I didn't say? Let's go through point by point, as I haven't made any of those arguments.
  • I said Pogba and Greenwood were exhausted. I didn't say overplayed. They did play a high but not silly number of minutes, but they both played a lot the previous season too and had no pre season nor a proper rest before the season which meant that they were more tired than usual towards the end of the season.
  • I said specifically that we didn't have a quality option on the bench who was fit, as Greenwood & Pogba needed to rest. I was also referring to the EL final mostly, in which both of those players played, while exhausted.
  • You're right that James didn't stop us playing an injured Rashford, but I'm saying specifically that adding Sancho and keeping James would allow that, as opposed to bringing in the former and getting rid of the latter (Sancho plays instead of Rashford, and James the half season he did last season for example).
Does that clear things up? Our disagreement still seems to come down to whether Greenwood and Pogba needed more rest. You feel they didn't, I agree with Ole that they did. Given that difference of opinion, it makes sense that you would think we don't need more depth, and I would think we do.

Wolves 0:1 Man Utd
He was far better than Sancho today, believe it or not. Looked more dangerous and actually put some decent crosses in.

He made 6 passes and misplaced 5, he's not built up for a top team.

Very good at getting into the position and receiving the ball. And, who knows after.

I'm once again asking Man Utd to sell him.

Probably the among the worst performances I've seen in a United shirt.

Someone do a montage of each of his touches because it was a horror show. I counted him losing possession 3 times in the opening 20 minutes alone.

Himself and Lingard have to be sold/let go/whatever the feck just get them out.

Have to agree with this. He actually gets on the ball a fair bit, but his passes seem to be under-hit or wayward. Can't fault his effort, but I also don't think he can improve much more beyond what we've seen from him.

I was shouting for him and Sancho to swap sides. He did much better when it finally happened but then he was subbed almost immediately. Why oh why? We were so shit, just take the chance much earlier!

It's getting more and more frustrating watching him start important league games. He gets chance after chance, something a youngster like Amad would never get. It's time to sell him while his value is reasonably high.

Ole has is favourites that’s clear. Needs to go ASAP and hope he has a good career but I read he’s been involved in 70 odd games for United…..how in the hell has he managed to get that many games I’ve never seen such a mediocre player get chance after chance.

Players like him and Fred stink up the place week after week yet others like Donny never get a game it’s really frustrating.

Competition winner.

Elanga couldn’t do any worse, and would provide a goal threat.

We've seen enough, that he's just not good enough. How can our coaching staffs not see?

Need him gone to eliminate any chances Ole just plays his favorites and stupidly risk a result. Greenwood bailed us out with a individual brilliance moment; but without it this game could have ended up a draw, even a defeat with the chances Wolves had been able to create. We can't always get away with this kind of unnecessary risk like this. With the squad, and investment we've recently done, we should aim to challenge for title with maximum efficiency. Why are we still doing thing like this? Baffling.

He has a Peter Parker likability but he offers very little on the ball and he wasn't even doing the tracking Adama job some claimed was the reason he started.

James is clearly not good enough. Playing Elanga away against Wolves in the PL would be a terrible idea. It would be a great chance that it would be an bad experiance for him and he do not have the experiance to do the tactical job needed. Working hard and doing a solid job is something you actually can count on James doing.

Loan him to Brighton or somewhere and keep Amad at the club. I think there’s still a good player in there for James. Who knows he may be a late bloomer

But he's not even doing this solid enough, is he? I didn't see him helping to minimize the Wolves obvious attacking potent; nor he can help with ball carrying, ball retention. If anything he's wasteful with possession and adding to the team issue. All he did is running hard, but that alone is hardly counted as contribution: doesn't stop, slow Wolves down, nor an reliable option for our attack.

Throwing Elanga in may sound extreme, but Lingard is a better option than James at the moment. Why playing Pogba deep this game to compensate for players like James, instead of moving up the pitch on left wing? Pogba creativity is much much higher, we don't lack a better defensive player (midfielder). Fred is better at all action running , and harassing opponents. Why forcing him to be a sole defensive holding midfielder, which he's not good enough?

Just because Ole played his favorites and used a terrible tactic for the game, doesn't mean people should justify it by vague claim about "tactical job". Top managers wouldn't resort to this type of players when they have numbers of options for different tactics.

The fact that, before Ronaldo came in, we were thinking about keeping him, but loaning out Amad seems criminal to me.

It's not his ability, it's his fecking brain. I've never seen someone run with their head down as much as he does, except in the park.

Every time I watch James play I change my mind about wanting him to stay and play a backup / squad role.

Never makes it past 60 minutes when he starts games. I can only assume he started today because he was fitter than a few players on the bench.

He will leave before Tuesday I'm pretty confident of that. I do wonder if others will follow to be fair.

You know what you are going to get with him. Hard working but lacks quality. I like the lad but with the signings we have made and prospects we have coming through, it’s hard to see where he fits in. Would do well at a Leeds sort of team.

The word better shouldn't be used in regards to his performance today though, especially not with the "far" bit. James was very poor. Sancho was worse.

Also, if the idea was to make him mark Wolves' overlapping player and let Wan-Bissaka handle Adama (which would make sense on paper), it didn't work out.

The words "nice lad, but this isnt his level" spring to mind. To good to be playing for Watford, not good enought to be playing for us. Shame Sunderland arent still around.

He just stands out like a sore thumb at this level unfortunately.

Even when he just stays wide and tries to run down the line and cross it, he barely actually gets it into the box.

Greenwood is so so much better on the right.

Elanga scored against Wolves away last season.
