I'm not bothered about his decision making or success rate of shooting.

As a United winger, the base level I expect is that he's able to consistently beat his full back and cross the ball. Yesterday was a bit more promising.

But putting together all of his performances into one bundle and judging how many times he successfully dribbles past opponents, it hasn't been nearly enough. His one glimmer of hope, in my opinion, is that he hasn't played enough games on his favoured side. Hopefully he keeps getting games on the left and hopefully he keeps at least trying to run with the ball.

If anything, yesterday just served as more confirmation that he is way out of his depth. The opposition was incredibly poor and his shooting is really bad.

His shots on goal are just basically deft passes to the goalkeeper. The power on it certainly isn't harming any man, woman or child.

Imo lad did ok but he needs to look around a bit before shooting. With his pace, tenacity and work ethic he would be a pretty good player. I understand his selfishness as he's been under pressure to perform. But the more he keeps continuing like this the further he'd be from the line up. Hope someone tell him not only goals count, assist or key pass are greatly appreciated as well.

I think his most underrated moment yesterday was when he decided to smash into Allan St-Maximin who'd spent the entire first half showboating, well worth the yellow if you ask me.

He got into much better positions, and was more involved yesterday. I also liked that he played with some intensity - like when he fouled Saint-Maxinimin. Ultimately he was let down by his decision making and end product though, and I fear this is not going to improve much.

When we do use him, it should always be on the left though. He is awful on the right, and continuing to play him there will not help him.

The biggest issue isn't him playing on the right or left, it is that his best performances are always against dross sides.

People mention Wales, but the teams he has played are arguably Championship level, and some even below that: Bulgaria, Finland, Ireland.

Newcastle was pathetic yesterday; they were just that bad.

I feel for him. He has heart, unlike some of our players, and I think gives his all but struggles at this level. For me jury is still out, but I like him.

I'm a bit surprised at the reaction in here. I thought he was somewhat bad, actually. He's very good at running into space, but it's shades of Andreas Pereira when he has to actually do something with the ball. Every pass is at least ever so slightly misplaced, ruining the flow of attacks. His shots and crosses aren't good either. And even his runs weren't really very good, as often he ran straight into the space occupied by another United player. His initiative (i. e. running) makes him look better than he is.

I like his attitude, I just don't think he's ever going to be good enough to even sit on the bench.

He's good at running with the ball and helping his fullback. He's not so good when he actually needs to show some sort of end product for all his work. A bit limited as a footballer but this was a decent game for him if you accept his limitations.

Man Utd 0:0 Chelsea
Why is he playing? What does he offer? Garbage.

How is he better than Lingard??
Let's be sincere with ourselves & stop being defensive for players who don't deserve that because of mere sentiments.

Didn't learn anything new here. We know he shouldn't be playing unless its against lower teams just to rest better players. Starting him against Chelsea is mind boggling.

He is really bad player, runs into player instead of attacking the space. Giggs comment about we are dying for a forward when we need a proper winger but we got James ffs.

With all due respect, James has no business playing for the club. He can’t dribble, pass or make a right decision.

Hopefully we never play him in a big match again unless we're forced to or something.

Zero end product. Very poor today as he has been for 12 months. Shouldn’t be playing in big games As his qualities are lower level.

Was as abysmal as I expected him to be. If it wasn't a united player I'd find it funny how he messes up pretty much everything that he comes into contact with. When was the last time he had a single positive contribution to a game of football? A shot, a decent cross, a decent link up. Anything. A run where he ends up running into 4 men doesn't count. Answers on a postcard

Don’t think he’s fit for the PL, let alone United. As a defender, you literally need to stand ahead of him and tackle, cause he will run straight at you without looking up like a headless chicken.

And I bet Mata could absolutely destroy him physically. How can you be so weak?

But more than anything, it was a baffling decision from Ole to start him. Why? We had so many better options on the pitch. Honestly think Lingard would have more of an impact than him.

Just absolutely worthless and shouldn't be playing for us. Just another deadwood we could've moved out to get closer to affording Sancho

He will go out of the team for a while and then Ole forgets how bad he is and brings him for a run of games out of nowhere.

He was geniunely pathetic and collapsed around 50th minute, but to be honest it's not his fault.

He's clearly out of his depth and not ready for this level. It's on Ole if he thinks James can do it and should be a first team player. Not getting a proper winger is biting our ass from the very beggining of this feckin season.

This transfer looks more and more Bebe-esque.

I like him, but he needs space to play. Not good enough for us. Think Chong or even Elanga might offer more than him.

His decision making is poor, and can't shield the ball either. With him and AWB, it was honestly like playing with 2 men less in possession, at least AWB makes up for it in his defending, James offers very little in even that.

The manager who decides to start with him should be questioned.
