Daniel Gore

It would be so cool if we could get an entire midfield of academy players in the first team again a la Beckham Butt Scholes Giggs.

Garnacho Gore Mainoo Iqbal Rashford maybe?

Our first team is lacking a midfield metronome imo, but at youth level we seem to developing a number of players who fit that profile. If one of Mainoo, Iqbal, Gore or Hannibal made it into the first 11, as a play-making #8, then that would be fantastic.

A whole midfield consisting of youth players would be amazing to see but probably unrealistic imo. But i'd be disappointed if at least one of the aforementioned youngsters didn't make it. I don't think I've ever seen as much creative midfield talent in our youth teams than what i'm seeing right now.

When you see Garner being moved on for a relatively small fee, it really seems that the chances of an academy lad holding down a place on the first team are so slim.
McTominay must give them all hope. He was less heralded in the youth teams than many others but has really pushed on. He's an easy scapegoat at times but ETH seems to trust him.

I think Garner was too slow, like Charlie Savage. Sadly reminds me of Galbraith and Zidane. McT is more of a runner and hustler and Gore has that. Mainoo is quick and with technical skill so this is why he stands out as well. Hansen and Shola worry me as well as even though they have amazing skills, their movement isn't the quickest and they don't seem to be able to dominate at this stage compared to the juniors.
However, Bruno, Ericksen and Scholes were the same and they made the elite so who knows.

I haven’t really seen this kid much… he’s very like the ginger prince. It’s the nonchalance with which he plays. “Another 60y pass” “Another spin out of a challenge”… and always head down afterwards.

I don’t think I will ever get tired of watching our counter-attacks against arsenal. Long may it continue.

With Mainoo injured, is there any chance that Gore could step up and get a few minutes that Kobbie would have gotten. Seems like a tidy player and seems to be able to handle the physical aspects despite being slight himself.

Depends how long Mainoo is out for but wouldn't be surprised if Gore is on the bench for the early League Cup matches

I think with the rumours of other older squad players potentially leaving there was potential for him to get minutes regardless of the Mainoo injury. For all his skills really think the boss like his determination. Really good mentality despite the recent sending off.

Do we know what's happening with him? Any updates on his injury?

With Hannibal and Scott gone there should be a place in the first team squad for him and/or Collyer. Makes sense to keep Casimero around so these guys can learn from him and they can do some of his hard yards.

Quality technical player for me but lacking in physicality. All our youth players like Minnie, Garnacho, Amass and Dan Gore all need some physicality, to a lesser extent Mainoo.

Collyer seems to be the only one ready physical much as I can see

Any update on his injury? He has been out since beginning of year without any update?
Could do him well to get a year on loan if he is injury free. With Collyer in the team this year and his long-term injury I do not think he will get many chances here

He had surgery on his dislocated shoulder around 5 June. As far as I know it can take several months to recover fully so that you can join full contact training.

Is the shoulder injury a different one to the one that ended his Port Vale loan spell? If it's the same one, why did he only have surgery in June? What was happening for the previous number of months?

You’ve got to present that question to the medical department.

If it's the same injury it does seem bizarre

Hopefully he'll be back soon, though no doubt the timing is off. Collyer might have over taken him in the pecking order

I guess sometimes there is a decision to be made whether to go for the surgery or let it heal? Not an expert by any means, just wondering if they thought they’d see if it healed naturally first and when it didn’t they proceeded with the surgery.

He’s back!

Touch of Billy Gilmour about him? He looks a really good footballer but I can't shake the feeling that he won't make it here for some reason. Maybe because there's so many other young CMs coming through behind him?

Looks tidy, composed and has a grittiness' but I feel like I've watched numerous midfielders like him over the years in our reserves.

Statistically he probably won’t but he’s a very talented lad, I rate him a lot higher than anyone coming through behind him though, he’s probably the best young midfielder we have at the club now (not playing first team football)

Better than Fletcher?

Actually thought he looked better than Mainoo based on last summer's tour, really unfortunate that he was sent to Port Vale causing him to get injured and hampering his progress. Hoping he can recover fully, it would be a darn shame if he ends up being sold for pennies without getting a chance first.
