Dani Olmo

We need attacking mids and we need it sharpish. This guy is going to AC Milan for 20-30 millions and our move for Bruno looks over. 1+1=2, huh? Never for Manchester United, looking at the current state of the club.

You dont buy players you dont want just because you cant get the player you do want.

So what happen if you can't get players that you want? If the Club say that they only want Messi, would you be Ok for the Club not buying anyone?

Also. You don't sell the players you don't want, just because you can't sell the players you want. Nothing Olmo can do that Jones can't. We're fine.

So what happen if you can't get players that you want? Also is there a reason to not want this guy?
You look for someone else you want.

No clue who he is.. but if we arent interested, we arent going to be because we cant get bruno and AC milan are apparently signing him for 20m.

As bad as our squad is, I wouldnt swap it for AC Milan's.. not even close. If they want a player, its hardly a shining endorsement of his abilities.

Signing average players on long contracts is what put us in this mess.. I'd rather go a year with half a squad and get the players we want in, rather than signing deadweight on long term contracts who we'll try and fail to shift in a year.

I mean Dani Olmo was one of the star players in Spain’s U21 team along with Fabian Ruiz. He came from the Barca academy and has been linked with a return to Barca as well as other big clubs around Europe.

If Sporting are being unreasonable he seems a good alternative for a lot less money and could be a really clever signing.

I thought he was invisible for Spain at the U21s - Ruiz and Ceballos were the standouts. Plenty of players come through La Masia as well, it’s not an indication that he’s capable of playing at the high end of top level football.

That being said, he has been very impressive in the Champions League games I’ve seen - highly technical, a relatively explosive dribbler and generally very inventive in possession. He reminds me of a typical attacking midfield player for Wenger’s Arsenal (Hleb, mostly, perhaps). I like that he has been effective across the pitch which is quite rare (though I would still say he looks most comfortable in the inside left channel, and looks like he prefers moving from in to out rather than vice versa).

He is desperate to move on. United obviously aren’t interested at all, but I think he’s a quality player and would be a good signing regardless of whether Fernandes comes in or not.

Exactly. You don't bring players in when you already have worse players, you could stifle young Lingard's development or cause Martial some form of upset.

Look what happened with Morata and Lukaku’s respective moves

Neither worked out for either club so sometimes you can’t do the right thing no matter what you choose

You say you have no clue who he is, then go on to imply that he is another average player you don't want. I would advise you to first check out the player, then go stating about something you don't know.
Regarding the player, Dani Olmo is hardly a nobody, being previously linked to us. A former barca product and a prodigy in the Spain U21, with great control and skills in addition to an excellent footballing brain. He is comfortable in the middle as well as the wings, and is quite good in the final third chipping in with some superb solo goals. Has long outgrown Dinamo and also, has been linked to barca return, before the Milan rumour. Physicality and adapting issues aside, I have no doubt he is headed to the top level. But yeah as you say, he is average as compared to Sir Lingardinho.

Dani Olmo is class, if we aren't in for him we are idiots.

If we can't attract the big boys or are shying away from that strategy, we need to be all over the next gen of stars. Like Liverpool we need to get back to making stars not buying them.

There are no guarantees in football especially with young players but Olmo and Ziyech seem to have the attributes we need in our team and what they need to make them top players.

Exactly. But it shouldn't stop Clubs to buy players. There should always be alternatives, unless we prepare to pay whatever it takes.

Tell that to Ruud Van Nistelrooy when we couldn't sign Shearer, or Cantona when we couldn't sign whoever it was Fergie wanted (david hirst?)

Klopp didn't even want Salah as first choice, he was about 3rd in line

Dwight Yorke- Kliuvert.

We got Solskjaer instead of Shearer in '96.

Talking the 2nd time (I might be wrong but the point stands)

So apparently Dani Olmo is heading to RB Leipzig for under 20 million. What an absolute steal, he will be worth triple that soon.

Havent seen that much if him and liked (not loved) what I did see, but you have to ask yourself why nobody else is in for him. Time will tell if we missed a good one here

I've seen a dozen clubs being mentioned with his move. Basically nobody knows shit. The media I mean.

It's a sad state of the sports journalism in our country. How many articles can they generate in next few days?

Sportske Novosti used to be a good, reputable papers and were always held in high regard but that was some 20 years ago.

Just look at all of the Olmo "news" that they launched since the last summer summer; Olmo in Ajax for 25mil€ and 40% of the next transfer (lol at that), few days later United offered 40mil€ and negotiations were in advanced phase (some people on Reddit lost their minds over that) . After all of that there was a narative that Dinamo refused every offer because after Euro 2020 he's gonna sell for at least 40-50 mil Euros. Then there was Barcelona and how everything is practically arranged for 30mil , than there was Milan for 25, Wolves, Leicester, Leipzig etc...

They make things to and are not even embarrassed about it. Sadly they're fit for the toilet nowadays. Not to mention they don't have a clue about transfers after working so many not years but decades in football.

I guess the board are expecting Pogba back in a few weeks, and see no point signing a no. 10. I think Bruno has a lot more experience playing box to box than Olmo, so he probably appeals more as he's specialised in a couple of roles we are light in.

Olmo can play as a winger too or maybe more as an inside forward but anyhow he's really versatile.

What it is about this deal, which seems to have put several big clubs off? It seems an obvious transfer at a good price.

This is what get me fuming. There are bargains to be made if we wanted to. Olmo and Minamino were available, there's still Piatek and Can available on loan with right to buy. These are the players who can make us reach top 4. So lets stop making excuses and lets start signing players.

Honestly speaking, there's nothing to suggest he'd join us over Leipzig anyway.

No value in the market in Jan.... sure

Exactly. We just don't seen to fancy these sort of players sadly.

Now maybe if Olmo was British..

With such massive rebuilding that needs to be done we simply cannot rely on the British Market. That would cost us a bomb. We need to get smart ie we need a horde of bargain signings on the cheap which we can easily offload if things don't work out. United need to be able to tackle a high turnover of players on a regular basis.

I mean take Maguire's and AWB's deal. Would we be that worse of if instead of spending 130m on them we kept Smalling, we got Demiral for 20m, olmo for 30m, achraf for 25m, rabiot on a free, haaland for 25m and the rest of bergwijn or brandt?
