If Dortmund are interested then he must be ready for more game time, they wouldn’t buy a player like Gore to sit on the bench.

It happens with every club, there are regulations on the length of contracts for young players.

Dan Gore’s contract doesn’t expire next summer anyway so it isn’t relevant here.
That’s not true (and now we’ll have everyone panicking like they did with Garnacho)

Well done @pascell

Sons crying.
The OP on page 1 spreading fake news, it needs updating.

Had an impressive pre-season, imho. A loan till the end of season is better for his development.

There's no desperate rush for a loan. Has he even had a full season in U21's?

They can have him for £150million plus add ons. Not based on his ability, just based on them being fleecing bastards!

Makes no sense this loan, none at all.

Port Vale are a poor side, who play poor football in a weak division. If we want him prepared at all for first team football then a Championship loan should be the minimum we should be accepting for him.

Middlesbrough or Ipswich would be nice for the romanticism.

Yeah, seems a bit low down the ladder this. I'm surprised there aren't any Championship teams with a spot in their 11 for him.

Well he isn't going to play much here, might as well go there if they genuinely do intend to play him.

Probably a case of the fact that no championship team interested in him would guarantee game time. He hasn't really played enough to show he should be starting in a championship club. Half a season there and maybe next year he'll have more suitors looking to take a risk

I'm a little surprised at the level (bottom half league one) that he's dropping to.

Him starting to be in and around the first team squad suggested he was closer to getting chances than the calibre of players who tend to drop down to league 1 / 2 / National League.

I understand the loan if senior midfielders are returning from injury. But if they think he'd struggle for game time at even championship level at this stage, then it suggests he's not really thought to be too close to being ready for our first team squad yet and was just an emergency option due to all our injuries.

Does seem a bit low for his ability. I've got a mate who is a Vale fan and he's excited by it though. Seems they've relied a lot on loans and had Alfie Devine from Spurs up until recently so this seems like a replacement.

Its only half a season, and if he's really as good as people are saying he should be the best player in the league by far.

If he shows that, he'll get a full championship loan next year.

Fans are always delusional about the level loan players should go to. Last PL season had iirc only 1 u21 player on loan in the PL without a buy option. Yet our fans think we should have multiple on loan in the PL at all times.

The Championship is a really good level and there is only about 3 months left in the season, 18 games. Gore has never played senior football, he’s not walking straight into any Championship side. There is no point going somewhere he has to take a month to break into the starting XI. Then once safety is secured and playoffs are missed for the majority of clubs, they drop all loan players for the last month as they have no future there. No matter how good he is, there is a huge chance he’d be scrapping for less than 10 starts.

A guaranteed spot at Port Vale who have 21 matches remaining could mean twice as many appearances, which is the whole point of the loan.

If he is too good for league 1 then it will show quickly and Championship teams will be queuing up for him next season...simples!.

That has to be the plan. At the very least he’ll be playing football instead of twiddling his thumbs in the first team/u21 void.

Exactly

A feel bad for the lad. I understand he's only 19, but Port Vale?

A young lad at United, earning plenty, on his first short term loan with his whole career in front of him.

I wouldn't feel too sorry for him.

Called it that loan was better choice. EtH's reluctant to play him contributed to this though.
Anyway, Harry Kane's first loan was a League One team. So no harm done.

Beckham's first loan was even much worse.

I too was really surprised to hear that he had gone to Port Vale on loan.
Thought he would have gone to a much better side.

A real shame, as it should have been possible to find a club in the Championship. The dropoff in quality between these two leagues is substantial but hopefully he comes back to summer training without having to recover from a serious injury in the butcher’s league he’ll be playing in.

He seems physically very weak & limited atm. Takes time to build that body to do in men's football.

He's actually quite difficult to shift off the ball - low centre of gravity and he carried that into pre-season.

It's far and away his best attribute.

Made his dayboo today against Portsmouth. Subbed off after 54 mins.

Also, a fan ran on to the pitch and chased the ref

Not a very good pass completion from him (62%), but stats suggested he was better with his longer passing.
