Guess you're not a big LvG fan then ?

For a guy that wasn't suited to the Premier League as you say he managed to hold down a regular place in a foreign position in that same League to such a level some said it looked as though he'd played there for years.

And this isn't 60/70's Serie A that was played at walking place and 0-0 was considered a positive result, it might not have the intensity of the Premier League, but some of the fastest players on the Planet ply their trade there, let's just hope Daley can avoid them.

Was a love / hate relationship. Loved his way with the media, disliked alot of what he did "on" the pitch. I never rated Blind personally thought he was hazardous because of his lack of physicality but my father a life-time United fan thought the opposite. So I'm well aware of the divided fan-base when it comes to him. ( Have had a few heated arguments with my father about him ).

Won't lie that I've watched Serie A intensly but the little I've seen I have to say it's a bit slower paced and more tactical but then again I'm no professional it's just an opinion. Still think Serie A will fit Blind better than the PL though.
 
Good for the club to recoup whatever amount of money they could here

Do we even need one?

Young & Shaw as a left back. CBJ & Riley came back from on loan. Darmian can also play as a left back. I think we cover up the left back spot until end of the season.

Smalling, Lindelof, Jones, Bailly, Rojo. We also cover up the centre back spot until end of the season.
 
^^Not to mention Lindelof and Rojo can cover at RB and LB respectively, in a pinch.

Honestly, after Martial's improvement and now we got Sanchez, I hope Mourinho is going to cut off his squad to 21 players. Basically 21 players of over 21 age. And 4 or more of teenagers (21 or under). Just not typical of Mourinho to have such a big squad and rotate them. Some players that we got are flexible with quality who can cover many positions as well like Sanchez, Mata, Rashford and etc. We shouldn't be worry too much on injuries.
 
While on paper, he's surplus at this point and he should be better playing more games elsewhere, I still selfishly want to keep him around until summer. We're not that fortunate with injury, so safety first.
 
Like him as backup a lot, but fair enough if he wants more.

In an ideal World we'd have 25 specialists in the first-team squad but that's totally unrealistic, so if Blind isn't kicking up a fuss about not playing more regularly i'd keep him(he'll be on relative low wages)knowing that if we do get hit with serious injuries(when don't we ?) he can come in and do a passable job at centre-half, left-back, left wing-back, and as a no.6(wish Mourinho had given him a run of 3/4 games there when Pogba was out, and Matic needed a breather)where his football brain would have compensated for his lack of pace and physicality.

If he goes I wish him well, and thank him for his efforts, but there's 5 or 6 i'd want to see leave before him.
 
Roma can piss off if they want a loan deal. Either he goes permanently or he stays at the club till the summer where we still have plenty of cup football to be played. I hope Jose sees it that way too
 
Blind hasn’t played since Shaw has been fit. Would be fine to sell him now rather than later.
 
He's useless at the moment. Young and Shaw are covering the LB position and we have 5 defenders who are all better than him.

Nice guy and top professional but definitely not good enough. Sell for a good price.
 
Hopefully we sell him for more than the 13M or so we bought him for. Good player but is down the pecking order in all the positions he can play.

Actually have to agree with you on him getting a shot in midfield, because we havent really seen him there and he has the skill-set for it on top of that if he makes a mistake there there it wouldn't normally result in something dangerous. I'm not saying he's more prone to mistakes than our other players but because he lacks speed and strength he seldom recovers. Bailly does as many mistakes if not more in defence but his speed and strength gives him a chance to catch up and recover, Blind is done for when he does, especially when playing in the defence, we've seen it a couple of times in his time here.

I personally don't want him in our defence because I feel that his lack of physicality can't be balanced out by his skills. Hes out-paced and wrestled in to submission to easily. I'll even go as far and say I rather have Mensah as backup than him for our CB position. I'm not in the camp "good riddance" because if he would accept a role as the backup incase we have alot injuries, I wouldn't mind at all having his skills as backup at the club, but not as a rotational player in defence.

But now I would really want to see him in a midfield role after you mentioned it.

I completely agree with your points.
Perhaps he was never suited to the midfield due to lick of pace and physicality, but he always found the right pass and could fill many holes. It's an important characteristic for a squad player, and he always had a great attitude as well.

20mil should be the target for us. He's 27, still a lot of time on his hands and can give Roma some great options.
 
I can see him leaving the club but in the summer. Shouldnt be getting rid of players at this stage knowing how frail our defenders are.
 
He's like the defensive Mata. If he had the pace or strength, he'd be a brilliant player. As it is, very good, but never really suited Mourinho. Still he was a reliable player who played a big part in all our positive moments over the past 3 seasons since he came, so all the best to him. Was one of the few signings I'd brand a success from LvG's tenure, along with Martial and Herrera.

Decent player and does the job, nothing more or less. If we can get decent money then why not? Shaw is back, young is there and so is Darmian. Hope he has a good career wherever he goes.

Mata's 1 year extension looks pretty ominous for him as well. I reckon next window he might be replaced.
 
Is it permanent transfer or on loan?

He is not playing regularly so wouldn't mind selling him to Roma if we can get decent fee.
 
He’s out of contract in the summer? Let him leave. We’re better off replacing one of the youngsters in his role. But he has been played mainly as a cb, worst case scenario if there are too many injuries, we’d just play Carrick there instead.

Blind’s an ultimate professional. I liked him. Hope he has success if he leaves.
 
He deserves to play more. Him and smalling held our defense together for the Europa league run in and in LvGs lest season so an fa cup and Europa winning center back. He should be fondly remembered.
 
Italian club are skint. FFP ruined their football. So I won't be surprised if they push for a loan with right to buy. I would have hoped we would opt for a fee + blind for a player though.
 
Not happy that he is leaving during the winter window if it materializes, but I can understand his wish to go. He has been a very good servant IMHO, especially at centre-back and to a lesser extent at left-back. Never complained, top professional, did well last season for our Europa League win and helped the team in a number of positions over the years. I understand that Jose likes to use specialists in pretty much every position, but I'd rather keep Daley until the summer, even if it's only for the odd game here and there.
 
I cant see who would by him atm. Isnt he injured with an ankle injury?
 
Should keep him until the summer with Axel going on loan recently.
We would barely get a decent fee from Roma anyways so better keep him as an option for the rest of the season and let him leave for free.

I quoted your post because it was smug and cavalier, I see it a lot these days from our fans bashing our own players. It's fine to not rate a player but at least when he plays for United and gives his all for the shirt i'll respect them. When he won the Dutch POTY in 2013-14, he played as a CDM under de Boer, which everyone agrees is his natural position.

Would feel sad to see him go, always liked him as a player but seems to have fallen down the order. Darmian on the other side....
