Daley Blind | Ajax Performances

Surprised we didn't get him - especially considering the ex-Utd & EtH connection, and the fact he was on a free. Could have done a squad job for us as DM, LB, LWB, and LCB.

He's been shite recently so I doubt he'd add anything to this team. And his professionalism and never complaining at this stint here has also been vastly different at Ajax where he's been a nuisance ever since he's lost his place in starting XI.

We have a glut of options for every one of those positions and while he was never a physical marvel, he is even less agile now.

Last time I saw him play he was woeful and looked even slower. Not sure if he would be up to much.

He was slow in the first stint too. People need to move on. It was 7y ago ffs.

What the hell! I didn't quite see that going... That makes Schreuder look particularly dumb, and this whole business with pushing Blind out the club was already hurting his reputation in Amsterdam, even if Blind would have gone to Volendam.

He struggled with pace six years ago... why on earth would he be a better option for us now.

Appreciated his time when he was here, but that chapter is over

He's slow as feck, wouldn't fancy playing him anywhere but CB and we have plenty of players above his level in that position.

But he's good enough for Bayern though
He'll be a back up playing mostly in bundesliga where Bayern walk the league. Imagine changing Alphonso Davies lighting speed for Blind's snail pace. Not going to happen in any slightly meaningful game at all.

We can't give ourselves that luxury.

There’s a decent chance they lose this one too. PSV lost Gakpo which is huge, but Feyenoord have the better manager than Ajax

2 of our most important players are out injured for a prolonged time. We are still the 3rd best team in the league.

The Bundesliga is too strong to play players just in the league... There is no matches you just cannot take easily as the lower teams usually play with a lot of energy. It is part of Bayern's success that they take all matches serious.
It is all about tactics. Hernandez played left defender when Davies was out and he is another model of fullback, too. Blind is a more defensive alternative with whom you can play inverse fullbacks, too.

We can field 3 out of the Ajax backline now that got to the CL semifinals in 18/19.

That Ajax manager is an idiot but it sounded like he was done at the top level.

He'll probably hold bench at Bayern

Obvious fit for Bayern for his ball playing ability. Cobver his weaknesses and you have an awesome passer.

You never know what happens. Bayern usually does not have any luck with injuries of defenders. And there is suspensions, too.
Even if you might have to adapt the tactics because of his weaknesses to make full use of him he knows how to play that level.
Playing e.g. a Davies, Blind, de Ligt, Mazraoui defense in a match does not make me headaches. And that is why Bayern has gotten him. He is adaptable to different positions especially to the ones of Hernandez and he is no stranger to the systems Bayern plays and some of their players. And he is not expensive.

Why, welcome!
That's unexpected, but I'll gladly take him as a band-aid on Lucas' ACL injury. Good and needed addition for our 'Handsome 11' too.
