DirectX: DX9.0c or DX10

Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.2GHz, or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
2 GB RAM
12 GB of free space
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB, or similar

is the recommended requirement.

fecking hell. I need a top-range NVIDIA Geforce 8800 GTS to run the game smoothly.

I tested it a couple of days ago but it was unplayable. There is no point in playing a average FPS on low settings.

Playing on a two year old system its surprisingly smooth, 1280x1024, medium settings. Haven't tried upping it any but I'm sure I could up the settings quite a bit with no problems.

1280? What are your specs?

Athlon 3200+ (think its overclocked) 2 gig of ram, Radeon X850.

Haven't pissed about with my PC for ages, can't remember what's in it exactly. Most of its at least two years old though and still runs most stuff great.

Bought this today, just need to wait for my new PC to turn up :( Tempted to try and run it on this PC but I'll only hurt myself

I will play this beauty when I finally upgrade my shitware to DX10 compatible. No rush, but the screens and gameplay clips are speaking the truth.

DX9 generation is still good platform to have fun but for maniac like me it's like an alert.

I'm addicted piece of shit when it comes to gaming...

hows this?
2.4Ghz quad core
4GB RAM
nvidia gt 8600
600GB storage

Recommended Specs are:

CPU: Core 2 Duo/Athlon X2 or better
RAM: 1.5GB
Video Card: NVIDIA 7800 Series, ATI Radeon 1800 Series or better
VRAM: 512MB of Graphics Memory
Storage: 12GB
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible
ODD: DVD-ROM
OS: Microsoft Windows XP or Vista
DirectX: DX9.0c or DX10

Obviously a bit extra wouldn't hurt I guess :D

How's 8600 GT?

I'm looking to get one.

How big of a hole did it burn in your wallet?

not my comp, it's a cousins. Think the total price came to just under 1000 pounds but that was with an insanely good monitor. Not sure what the name was, but it made up a large chunk of the sum.

except in price :)

the GT even outperforms the GTS in some scenarios according to reports at hardware sites like Tom's Hardware

That's true. Here the 8800 series costs around Rs - 40000. For that much money, you can buy a decent motor cycle. But still there are a lot of people going after them.

But anyway I wouldn't.

After new year, Nvidia should make prices lower of their new stuff, so it could be even better to wait more for it.

As for now 8800GT is the best choice... 8600 models are quite good, too, IMO.

the 8600 is ok but the price/performance ratio of the 8800GT blows the 8600 out of the water

they might be a bit scarce at the moment though, in January they should be available in the sub 250$ range (at least in the US)

Crysis should run on 8800GT with no problems on high level of details... that's for sure.

I have a 8800GTS and I can wack everything up to high. I've read that the 8800GT just about out perfoms the GTS and it's cheaper.

Really ?! This sucks, man...

I thought Crysis will run smoothly on any of 8800 series.

So, the question now is... What do you need to run Crysis smoothly on high details.

8800 GTX, 8800 Ultra ?

you misread BRobson.. he says he can play with everything on high on his 8800GTS

Yeah, I should pay more attention, sorry.

So... I'm changing my main question to: What do you need to run Crysis smoothly with high level of details.

if you want 60fps in 1600x1200 with every detail on you'll have to wait for the next gen cards.. the 9800 or whatever it will be called

No no, not really... for great graphics I need 1024x768 with Antialiasing x 4 with smooth animation.

I don't need any higher than 1024x768, for real.

Can 8800GT can handle it in Crysis ?

yeah I would think so, 1024x768 is low enough res so you'd probably be able to run with a great level of details on

I have a 2.66 core 2 duo, 8800GTS and I'm running on Vista 64 so i'm using the DX10. It runs smoothly, but I know it would run alot better with a quad core.
Are you building from scratch or upgrading?
