it was three penalties and a tap in mate
Tell me, do you complain when Lewandowski score tap-ins for Bayern?

Of course not. I am also not hyping them up.Tell me, do you complain when Lewandowski score tap-ins for Bayern?
So Ronaldo leaving the game improved Portugal is what you‘re saying..?I'm not sure if you watched the game or not but to answer your question I think his injury is what broke France rhythm, they were relentless on the first minutes and it seemed inevitable they were going to score as Portugal was being overwhelmed. Ronaldo did try to do the right thing by trying to hold the ball and slow down the pace of the game but when he got the opportunity to receive the ball and do that he was fouled and injured.
It's probably not the answer you wanted to hear but him being injured did had a great impact on the game, after being injured until he came out the mood in the stadium changed dramatically. The game was stopped for several minutes and you could tell everyone in the stadium was upset about what happened to him. So I think all of this played into Portugal's favor as this interruption of the game is what broke France rhythm, they were able to catch a break and better accommodate defensively. To be honest it's very likely had Ronaldo not being injured France would have gotten ahead in the score quite early on. I also think him being injured and visible devastated inspired the team and he also was very vocal while being on the bench.
I mean I'm not going to say he had a good game as he barely played as he was injured but he clearly had an impact on that game, Renato's goal and him being injured is probably what everyone will remember from that game so it isn't like his presence was inconsequential and that Portugal was going to win anyway if he didn't exist.
Of course not. I am also not hyping them up.
That is a different question and has nothing to do with what i wrote. So please don’t put words into my mouth. So, you dont think he deserved Ballon Dor in 2020 then, good to know.

But if you are really interested in my opinion (which i somehow doubt): i believe that the Ballon d‘Or should go to the „best“ player, not the one who‘s team managed to win the most trophies. For me Messi is the best player and he should have won the last 10 or 15 Ballon d‘Ors.

Mate, I explicitly wrote „in my opinion“.Well that’s a daft metric. Performance and ability, married to success has to be a metric.
If Messi;
- missed a penalty in the last game of the season to hand Real a title
- Scored an own goal in the WC final to gift Brazil the win
- Got sent off in the first minute of the CL final as Barca lost to United
… he’d still quite obviously be the best player in the world, but nobody is going to hand him the Ballon d’Or that year. He could average two goals a game for a whole season that year and still lose.
Mate, I explicitly wrote „in my opinion“.
I know what you’ve said, but it is still a wrong post under wrong thread to a wrong poster.
You have to admit it's very funny that after 5 years of Messi's fans criticizing Ronaldo for his Portugal win, he goes and wins the Copa America with two relatively ineffectual performances in the last two games.
So Ronaldo leaving the game improved Portugal is what you‘re saying..?
No, i understood. Ronaldo getting injured was good for Portugal since it changed the mood in the stadium and inevitably lead to their win.More like interrupting the game affected France and his injury changed the mood in the stadium. Then again that was my perception but if you didn't watch the game don't take my word for granted.
Imagine living in a time in which two of the best players of all time, are playing at exactly the same time, and spending all that time tryito decide which is better.
It’s a new disease. I love Messi. I wish I’d seen him more. I love Ronaldo. I’m glad I saw him lots. At no point do I go near a thought of a binary ‘who is/was better’. It’s such a reductive and stunted mindset that really says something about those that engage in it.
I wonder how many posts in this thread of 224 pages mention or reference Messi. A depressing number I bet. I’ve just added to it of course. Nobody wins.
You can appreciate both but still argue about whom you believe is better.
I always find people who come into these threads and act as if they're some elevated being because they don't comment who they think is better to be equally as tedious tbh. Humans are naturally analytical and social otherwise this forum wouldn't exist. People are also tribal, hence you can find people who live in Mumbai or Vancouver and have only watched United through their laptop having an irrational hatred for someone just because they happen to have a contract with Liverpool.
In a world where there are people arguing if the world is round or flat, people arguing about the two best players of this generation on a football forum shouldn't surprise you. It's not that serious mate![]()
Messi was carrying an injury. Given you are a Ronaldo fan, I'd strongly recommend you NEVER comment on performances in finalsMessi was poor by any standards in that final, my first post that day was to congratulate him on finally winning something with his country, but let's not pretend his contributed much in the last 2 games of the competition.
Anyway, it's not about Messi, we can take it to that thread if you really want to argue who did less in their country winning the final.

I give it up. Your are arguing like a kid here, or stubborn old man.Only thing wrong is your reply.
Lads, I know some of you are overly excited about Messi finally winning trophy for Argentina, but please take all the Messi vs Ronaldo talk in another thread. Really there is no need to keep invading Ronaldo thread to prove a point, there’s already a huge thread out there for the battlefield. The last few pages here has been 80% about Messi vs Ronaldo. Behave…
Well it’s easy to blame it all on one poster isn’t it? We are not some 5 year old kid or someone named Trump, and it doesn’t work that way. Everyone have to somehow draw the line and behave…I
It started at post 8660 from a CR7 fanboy btw
Just saying

I am not blaming particular group, but afterall this Ronaldo thread, do you think its appropriate place to keep talking down Ronaldo here while keep mentioning Messi? Sure for Ronaldo fans there no right for us to talk down Messi here too, but we do have many “home fans” here for Ronaldo, and I know many Messi fans like to come here from time to time for the intention to provoke, we have to protect our own ground too.Well in your post, you specifically mentioned “some of you are overly excited that messi finally winning something for Argentina”, it is obvious which camp you are trying to blame.
I merely pointed out it started not by the messi fanboys but by a CR7 fanboy.
If you truly meant “everyone has to somehow draw a line”, then you will not have pushed the blame to the messi camp in your initial statement, but rather addressed your statement to both camps.
You are right we are not 5 years old, it is not difficult to read the context of your post. Oh also, you have also easily blamed 1 camp.
Oh, so it’s carrying an injury now is it? Funny that didn’t apply when Ronaldo played injured in the 2014 WC.Messi was carrying an injury. Given you are a Ronaldo fan, I'd strongly recommend you NEVER comment on performances in finals
Again, Messi was carrying an injury in both those games.
Regardless, he won both the golden Boot and the best player of the tournament award. He had the highest assists, created the most chance, was near the top of dribbling charts etc etc.
Without belittling Ronaldo, he was nowhere near as good for Portugal in any tournament.
Messi was carrying a hamstring injury in the semi and the final. This was confirmed by his coach. And he wasn't just Argentina's top scorer or assister but led the way in pretty much every attacking statistic one can think off in the whole tournament. Messi has been voted player of the tournament 3 times.Oh, so it’s carrying an injury now is it? Funny that didn’t apply when Ronaldo played injured in the 2014 WC.
Ronaldo won the golden boot at the Euro too, or did you conveniently forget? He was also Portugal’s top scorer and top assist provider when they won 5 years ago.
But let’s not let facts get in the way of a good anti-Ronaldo rant.
He wasn't brilliant in either tournament. Really good for his age in 2021 but not among the best performers and (rightly) didn't even make the team of the tournament. In 2016 he did well, but again, not a standout performer or even close to that.Oh, so it’s carrying an injury now is it? Funny that didn’t apply when Ronaldo played injured in the 2014 WC.

But just to be fair, more often it’s a case of reaction to provocation, from either sides. So I am just saying, everyone have to try to behave abit here…and take the battleground to elsewhere if possible.
so what options he has in 2022?
Hold on to your nipples, it's offside!!!SIIIIIIUUUU
Premature there bud
