Cristiano Ronaldo | Signs for United! Fcuk City

If he goes to ManCity his status will fall a bit but he will still be adored by us. He knows where his home is.

It is like Peter Schmeichel when he made a slightly misstake by joining ManCity. Even if this is on higher fame level.
Oh the fans will show their adoration alright. It's a big drop in his status if he moves to City. Hopefully, he still has some sense in him to realize that. He doesn't strike me as a man who would be okay with lowering his status.

Give Juventus Martial,
Cavani gets the Number 9 Shirt,
We regain CR7.

Or he fecks off to the States. He will be hated by many if he moves to any Prem rival, especially City.
Business-wise, this will be the worst decision ever taken by a football director.
Football-wise, I would have no problem with it, since I'm absolutely done with Martial at this point.

Also, the idea of Ronaldo in a City shirt is kinda heartbreaking.

His home is Madrid

Good one.

Don't be fooled pal. He was a slave at United remember? The guy doesn't give a shit about united. His main club to him was Real Madrid! We were a stepping stone for him, yet people treat United as his true home
Exactly this, we were basically Real’s feeder club where he was concerned, really don’t get the fawning over him and I couldn’t care less where he ends up.
He was a great player who happened to play for us, nothing more and nothing less

There's a rumour Mendez is in Paris. This could be all a smoke screen to force psgs hand

I don't understand why United aren't getting involved

He was never back to Old Trafford to watch single game of football, unlike many legeneds who are there every few weeks. He goes to watch random tennis match, F1 race, NBA match, but he never returned to watch United in CL even when his team was out, and yet people were obsessed how he loves us. He was never a fan, just a player who chased individual records and achieved more at Madrid, and I am not sure he loves them either. And that is fine, I don't blame him, he choose that kind of life and he acts like true professional but he also seems very emotionless towards many things except individual records. How some people never got that is beyond me, and him signing for City will make some people look ridiculous. I have spent years here, but that kind of love for Ronaldo was the only thing I never understood, but finally they will realise how stupid they were for years.

But as my mate just said, if him going to Real Madrid who were nothing special back then when he was on absolute top with us didn't hurt people and didn't make them change their opinion on him, him going to City when he is going for last paycheck won't probably change it either.

People are reacting as though Fergie and Cantona held a joint press conference to reveal matching Liverpool tattoos. It really isn't that big a deal.

I am sure that i am going to get a lot of stick for this.

Yes, most of the United supporters are in anger and in shock. Ronaldo joining City is totally unexpected. Still, i am sure that City was not his first, second or even 3rd choice. He would have preferred to join Real, PSG or United. But none of them were interested in signing him. I am sure that all these clubs knew that Ronaldo was trying to join a team where he has a better chance to win CL; may be his last chance to win it.

Now, i also don't think that it's about money for him now. It's about trophies, CL and may be even winning Ballon d'or for one last time. I also think that Messi joining PSG played a big part in his decision to find a team with better chances of winning the CL. He is a very competitive person and he is at the very end of his career. He doesn't want to fall far behind Messi in terms of trophies and records. United decided not to sign him and most of the other top teams did the same. So, his only option other than staying with Juve was to join City.

Tricky one, if United has a chance to win the title but Ronaldo scored a last minute winner to win it for City, I'd probably be very very sad as United fan but proud as Ronaldo fan. Its mix of feeling very sad and proud, so its complicated. Its like losing a match which means alot to you, but also winning a bet which earns you a good amount of reward. Life is never as simple or linear as you might think it is.

What kind of mental gymnastics is this :wenger:

I haven't given a shit about him since he made his slave comments and always found it infuriating how his United fanboys drooled over him despite that disrespect and clearly not caring at all about United. If him going to City opens people's eyes to what a prick he is then so be it. I have always said he's no United legend, some of the dross I've seen on here from people that said he's our greatest ever player was pathetic.

We could re-sign him tomorrow and like in 2009 I wouldn't cheer or applaud anything he did. Grade A wanker.

This would be bigger waaay for City than for Ronaldo. I think that a fair amount of Ronaldos fans are United fans from the beginning, and while some may be more Ronaldo fans than United fans, he will loose quite alot of followers with this moove.

Not enough that he would, or should, care but still.

Never said that did I? Smart ass. Yeah his wages would be high but I reckon we'd get two good years out of him.

Signing Ronaldo is all about wages, signing on fees, agent fees. No good saying it’s £25 million to buy him when it’s double that, maybe triple that just to have him.

Never a legend of United. Regardless of if he goes to City or not. He was a legend in the making at United, but he never reached that status for me.

Legend of the game. Legend of Real Madrid.

Can people please stop referring to Ronaldo as a club legend? He's no where near, it's disrespectful to actual legends to suggest that.

Just because he's one of the best players ever doesn't mean he's OUR best player ever, don't confuse the two.

Idk why people keep bringing up Schmeichel. He went there when they were nothing more than mid table fodder. He was declining too. Ronaldo scored 30 goals last year. They need a striker and he is a striker. And no, no one here is going to adore him if he goes to City. Wasn’t a Tevez a fan favorite here? Is he adored by anyone here?

What are you basing this on exactly? PSG have categorically ruled out signing him.

Basing it on, as it stands it as accurate as the city rumours.

No one has a clue what's going on, haven't seen one solid link yet bar Ronaldo looking out of Juve as they not willing to pay his money.

The fear of him going to city, and size of United based news traffic is mostly fuelling what we are seeing at the moment.

Who would've guessed we'd all be sitting here praying for some sort of Hobbs & Shaw-esque union of Messi & Ronaldo in Paris? Strange times.

There goes United's season in the league this season. Have to go again next season.

Pep is certainly very obstinate in getting a top striker in this season.
It’s so cute you actually thought we can win the league this season.

I don't know why so many fans are surprised or upset by all this. Seems everyone forgot how he actually left the club.

In all honesty, I have never really understood the love for him from the fans at almost every game. At least everyone can see it now.

The good thing is we'll all now come together in a collective despise for City and Ronaldo and in agreement that we can't actually win the league this year.

Bang out of order…a total turncoat of he does this. Fergie Groomed him to be one of the best players in the world and he looks to be doing this. I hope we win the PL now to rub it in his face

With Sir Alex's blessing after staying a year more than he was supposed to?

His status will be well and truly tarnished if he goes to City. Then again, I don’t think he will give a f*** about that, as long as he wins trophies there then that’s all that will really matter to him.

We can never have a transfer window where we blow the other teams, can we?

Frustrating if this gets done but then again does it change much? City are going to win the league and he'll get a premier league and maybe a CL winners medal

Someone pass me the sick bucket

Really sad that things always end so horribly. Why do people give people memories if they will just betray them later?
everything in life is great in the beginning then ends sadly. Everything!
Seen some absolute fecking drivel posted in here. People need to realise he has no loyalty towards United and never had, he used us as a stepping stone.

People saying he's bigger than MUFC, well I've seen some awful opinions on here but that tops the lot.
No loyalty to the club that supported him since he was a young boy and got Rooney sent off, we all backed him when the nation vilified him. Gave him the platform to become the best in the world and fulfill his dreams, we gave him a standing ovation when he returned playing for Real and showed him love but its now cool to play for our city and title rivals? this would not be acceptable in any sport

This.
Fans get so obsessed with players. They are just people earning a living. If I was a player who played for a European club I wouldn't give a crap about going to their rivals. Fans are fans, they all sing and cheer the same. Don't make a difference to a player.

Unless you were born and supported the club as a kid (Gary Neville) then I can understand it.
And you'd be hated and seen as a snake like Kevin Durant. Unlike you some players have genuine connection with certain sports clubs. Look at Ole and United. He is basically a Manc. If lebron left to play for the clippers now he'd get hated. Shaq is a Laker and they have an everlasting affinity for him etc. Figo got a pigs head thrown at him. With Ronaldo he spent his formative years here and was basically like an academy prospect due to his age. For him to return with our city and title rivals would be some hoe shit

I can only speak for me and a group chat of about 30 Utd fans but this is entirely different. Leaving for the club of your dreams in your prime is hard to take as a Utd fan but it isn’t disrespectful and I don’t hold any ill will over that move. Moving to a despised rival who have actually been better than Utd recent is an absolute low blow and shows he never gave a damn about the club. Make no mistake this move would cost him the love of millions of Utd fans!

Even though I know this guy is an egotistical maniac I never could have imagined he'd finish his career at City. What a nasty snake.

Just because he's one of the best players ever doesn't mean he's OUR best player ever, don't confuse the two.

He is a legend, I don't even think that's remotely contraversial to say. One of the very few Ballon D'or winners we've had at the club - Law, Best, Charlton, Ronaldo - of course all of them are legends. He was instrumental in multiple trophies as well as influencing only our third ever European cup, scoring for us in the final.

If you personally don't see him that way, that's your prerogative but if you don't think he's widely regarded as a legend then you're the minority, not the other way round. His song is still sang regularly and with passion.

No idea who you think you are either to be the gatekeeper of what people feel about our ex players. Some no mark on the Internet doesn't want people thinking of him like that? Right.....
