Cristiano Ronaldo - performances 2017/18

Majestic goals.
Vs the best team in Italy
Vs one of the Legendary GK
At away game, at one of Italian sanctuary stadium.
Respected by Juve's fans, even the Ultras ones.

Dont care what Messi Fanboys say, there's only one best scorer of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo...

So do you think it was better than Rooney's against City? Both amazing but I would say that Rooney's was better.

No way was Rooney's better. Ronaldo hit it cleaner and had to get about half a mile up into the air to connect with it. It's the most gravity-defying and technically perfect bike I've ever seen. The only way Rooney's is better is if we add a lot of United bias into the mix.

It was £80m Still a steal in hindsight but it was a massive fee at the time and paid in cash.

It was not a massive fee at all for a once in a generation player like him. Just a Few years later daniel levy dug his teeth in bale deal who was half the player ronaldo is and got more than ronaldo and inflation was not through the roof back then like it is now. Look at what price madrid will sell asensio if ever he wants to leave to have a upper hand in the market, We gave ronaldo for a discounted price back then for a player of that level because of our lack of vision in the market.

Rooney's was better placed but he shinned it. This one was the prettiest I've seen, Hugo Sanchez was a master

Let's stop up with this. He wanted to leave. What are we supposed to do ? Face it Madrid and Barca for most players are the pinnacle of football, the ultimate target for most footballers. We can't help this.

The mistake wan't using the money for selling him to get proper replacements.

Nope. The mistake was not offering him a better contract and keeping him. There is no reason United shouldn’t be at least at the same level as Barsa & RM. What we really need to stop is accepting a feeder club mentality.

He wanted to come to Madrid, it wasn't a question about money.

Cristiano scored a peach of a goal. Rooney's always felt kind of ugly to me.

But in terms of importance for me personally Rooney's felt so much emotionally, I remember screaming like a maniac when it happened.
It was like "feck yes, feck city, feck Liverpool, feck everything"

I started to really dislike him when he came out with that idiotic slave comment but you can't deny his greatness. Amazing that he's performing at this level at his age scoring anytime, anywhere against anybody. I personally rate Messi higher, but in these last couple of seasons Ronaldo has made the discussion a lot tighter than I thought he would. Absolute all time great.

I'd pick Rooneys goal personally.
The cross for Ronaldo was flatter, Rooney had more to do with the ball.

Did you saw how high Ronaldo jumped for this goal? Incomparable. Ronaldo's easily the greatest bicycle kick goal ever in history of football.

Messi doesn't turn up in big games like CR

CRonaldo's cl campaign last season is the best ever recorded by any player in history. Most assists, most goals, he is easily on par with Messi when it comes to playmaking. Look at his assist today for Marcelo.

If you put Ronaldo in our current team we would win the EPL with 100 points

Yes I forgot about the champions league finals Messi dominated vs us and how he's the all time leading scorer in el clasico games, what a load of absolute nonsense.

Ronaldo is not on par with Messi for playmaking and there's years worth of data to support it, Messi absolutely trounces him in dribbles/key passes/assists and every other metric you can see to measure influence.

@meamth
Rooney was a mile up in the air as well though.
Its like a flat cross v a looping cross, you have to do more with the former.

Don't take his posts seriously.
He is probably trying to reverse jinx Cristiano.

The thing that makes ROnaldo's goal so impressive is that he isn't standing in one spot and jumping up for the overhead kick. He is running away from goal and flat footing one of the greatest keepers of all time. This was an absolute amazing goal...

That is not true, not even the best scored in CL.

Nah.. the ball for that goal was floating toward him, and he had much more time to adjust his leg, and focus his kick. Saying that, it was still a great great goal.

Ronaldo's though. That was a cross from the side (higher speed), and further away from Ronaldo's initial position. He had to judge the trajectory of the cross, and had to timely run for the ball at such of high height also.

to each his own, but a bicycle from 25 meters, beating the keeper near post is going to top for me.

Imagine him winning both Ballon D’or and Puskas award by end of year

Well if anything he has one-upped Messi today, for the most beautiful goal scored between the two of them. Clearly Messi has a few of those mazy dribbling runs where he scored but the pure visual aesthetic of today's goal is breathtaking. Only bad thing you can say about it is he didn't land back on his feet!

Just re-watched both. I always thought Rooney's goal was just a simple off the ground bicycle kick, no need to jump.

Whereas Ronaldo, that is something else, he ran towards the ball, jump as high as Barzagli's shoulder and put his foot to land a perfect hit on the ball.

True, but I find Zlatan's to be even more impressive. His anticipation and improvisation while running away from goal are truly amazing. The way he took down that ball from that height and managed to put it in the net from such distance is genius.

It may be the most outrageous bicycle kick in world football, but in terms of importance that goal is just an exhibition.

Ronaldo's might be an iconic one if they win the CL again.

1. Pele
2 or 3.Messi/Ronaldo
4.Maradona
5.Cruyff/Beckembauer/Di Stefano

Is this a fair way to guess most people current GOAT's rankings ? At this rate, Ronaldo will end up being considered better than Pele and really alongside Messi.

Pele ?

Scoring 1000 goals in a garbage league doesnt make you great.

Most people will have Messi ahead of Ronaldo and probably Maradona as well

I don't think Pele is the GOAT actually, but most people do. For me Messi has passed him and Ronaldo is on that path too. Anyway, people think more about the World Cup when it comes to Pele, you can't deny his impact there.

The Messi vs Ronaldo debate is hard enough, adding in different generation players in Pele and Maradona makes it even harder. That debate will be a subjective one and probably better to take to the Messi vs Ronaldo thread. For me personally, not having seen Maradona and Pele much, Messi and Ronaldo are both at the top for me.

Btw anyone would take Cris at United now?

as at start of the season, most of us didn't wanted him:lol:

Him and Lukaku together would be an incredibly powerful combination. The only reason I maybe wouldn't take him is because it could stop Rashford's development, but other than that, hell yes, the club should offer whatever it takes in the summer.

people have misconception that Pele is just about WC, when his Santos career was equally impressive.

Santos actually came to Europe and beat Benfica with Eusebio at that time, I think great players would play well anywhere, it doesn't make sense the people who say Pele wouldn't do well in europe right

the garbage league which gave players who won two consecutive world cups and whose teams used to shit on European gaints of that era.
Santos of Pele, would have walked over every freaking league of that time.

reminds me of La Liga being crap league because RM/Barca dominating it, EPL extremist used to give, while Spanish teams kept on winning CLs and ELs, while kicking English side in their ass.
